Summer Love

In the summer of 2009 Karen got a job at a day camp that she went to from 5-14 y/o. Now that she's a junior in high school, she needed the money. It's your typical summer camp; kids running and screaming, some crying. But all that disappears when she meets the boy.. The curly haired one who she's met before, but who she knows nothing about.

7. Here to help

The day after Harry had asked me to be his girlfriend we acted as if we were just friends. He always gave me a kiss on the cheek whenever he got the chance to or when no one was looking, which I thought was cute. We got to talk during breakfast and we both agreed not to tell anyone. I think it would be awkward if the kids found out and Harry said that Liam and Zayn would make us uncomfortable.

After lunch, the kids left the dining hall and I stayed back with Danielle for clean up. Danielle's phone rang and she stepped outside. I went into the fridge and took out the vegetables for diner so they could thaw a little before Joe cooked them. I was unpeeling and orange for myself when Danielle came back into the kitchen. She looked flustered and amped up. "You okay Danielle?"

She looked up at me and she looked like she might cry. Oh no. I ran to her and stood next to her. "I can't do this alone! It's too much! The kids are too much, the inventory on the food is low, paper work for renting this place still needs to be done and.." She shook her head and stopped and looked to the right. I followed her view to look at what she was looking at.

"Great, and now I have to do six meals worth of dishes." She put her head in her hands and took a couple deep breaths. I put my hand on her back "I can do the dishes Danielle, I wasn't assigned a group with kids today so I can do whatever you want me to."  She looked up at me and she had a look of relief. I looked at her, concerned. "And don't say you can't do it. You're doing the best you can and you've been doing it for so many years. I think you're pretty damn amazing." She flared her arms up and gave the biggest hug I've ever gotten.

She squeezed me tighter and whispered "thank you" in my ear. I smiled and she let go. She led me to the back room and boy, there were a lot of dishes to be done. I gave her a slight smile as her phone rang again. "I'll see you later!" She answered her phone and left.

I approached the giant double white sink and pushed up my sleeves. I did the dishes at home a lot so I had my own routine. Silverware, plates, bowls, cups, then anything big; pots, pans, and cookie sheets. I took out my phone and I put on some music. I knew I was going to be here for awhile. I placed it on a convenient shelf that was about my head level.

I turned on the hot water and poured a good amount of soap in to make sure the water got extra soapy. I was about to put my hands into the water when I heard my phone vibrate. I grabbed my phone and unlocked it.

Missing you. See you at diner<3

I chucked. How cute. I locked my phone, put it back onto the shelf, and started washing.
