18. Her Love Is My Religion

Louis's P.O.V.:

As we're driving home, I notice Eleanor looking at me with distance in her eyes. "El, is something wrong?" I ask, not taking my eyes off the road ahead.

"No, just thinking." Thinking? About what? So many things are flying through my mind. Instead of push her for an answer, I stay silent and drive. About halfway to our flat, I put my hand on her thigh and give it a squeeze. She jumps a little, obviously surprised by my actions. When we finally reach a red light, I look over at her. She has worry written all over her face. "Eleanor, what's wrong?"

"I was just thinking of how you looked at me in that room. I was thinking of how you smiled that goofy smile when I was holding Rayleigh. Have you thought about a future with me?" She answers after a few moments of silence. Have I? I have, but I don't want to tell her I want her for the rest of my life. That might scare her away.

"I have. I know we only met 6 months ago, but I felt like I've known you for years. I'm not saying let's get married, but I have thought about my future, and it does involve you." I say, making her smile. "And if you want kids, that's okay with me, but let's wait on that. We don't need little Tommos running around right now."

Eleanor's P.O.V.:

As soon as I step into the car, my mind starts going all over the place. Does Louis think about a future for himself? And if so, am I in it? Where does he see us in a few months? "El, is something wrong?" Louis asks, snapping me out of my thoughts. Should I lie?

"I'm just thinking." That wasn't a lie, completely. Something is wrong, but it's true that I'm thinking. I can't tell him that I expect him to have a future with him, that would be selfish. I really wish he would tell me. I'm once again snapped out of my thoughts when we reach a red light.

"Eleanor, what's wrong?" He shakes me.

"I was just thinking of how you looked at me in that room. I was thinking of how you smiled that goofy smile when I was holding Rayleigh. Have you thought about a future with me?" I sigh. He needs to know. He looks away and laughs. Oh no, that's not good.

"I have. I know we only met 6 months ago, but I felt like I've known you for years. I'm not saying let's get married, but I have thought about my future, and it does involve you." He laughs, which in return makes me smile.

"And if you want kids, that's okay with me, but let's wait on that. We don't need little Tommos running around right now." He adds. I start to laugh. At least we're thinking about the same thing.

Laura's P.O.V.:

I wonder what's going on? Did Gabby get hurt? I hope not, because I'll kill that Irish fucker. I go against my better judgement and drive to their flat. As I knock on their door, I hear footsteps, which is a good sign. When it opens, it's not who I expected it to be. "Hi, um, who are you?" She asks. Where have I seen her before?

"Hi, I'm Laura, Gabby's frie...I'm someone that both Gabby and Niall know." I can't believe I almost called her my friend. I mean, we never said we weren't, but it would feel weird saying that.

"Oh, hi. I'm Jess, Gabby's sister. She's not here, but I can tell her you stopped by?"

"Sure, thanks. Just tell her that I've been looking for her." And with that, I'm gone. Where would they be? I could call Louis, but he hates me. All the boys probably hate me for what I did to Louis. I guess I'll just go home and wait till she comes back.

Niall's P.O.V.:

When Louis and Eleanor leave, I can see the anger in Gabby's face. "Babe, what's wrong? You look mad."

"I am! Why would Laura go and try to talk to me about whatever when I'm pissed at her?!" She on the verge of tears by now. I walk over and climb onto the bed next to her. "Gabby, you have more friends you can lean on now. The boys would never do that to you, ever. Just, look at me." I put my fingers under her chin and push them up so she's looking at me. "She doesn't deserve your kindness and humor." I reassure her with a kiss.

-------------

I wake up around 8 in the morning to a door clicking open and closed. I open my eyes more to see a doctor. "Mr. Horan."

"I would be him."

"I have some news for you. Would you rather your wife be awake or asleep for this?" Holy shit, what is he going to say.

"Asleep, I'll tell her later." I don't care that he called her my wife. She isn't fiancé, which is the same thing.

"Well, how do I put this. We did some tests on your daughter and-"

"What's wrong with our daughter?"

"Before I tell you, I need to ask you something. Do either of you smoke?"

"No. Why?"

"Your daughter has asthma. It's not uncommon, but most likely occurs when the mother smokes or is near someone who smokes."

"I mean, our friend Zayn smokes and she was on tour with us. Could that be a possibility?"

"Yes, very likely, unless you, her, or any grandparents have asthma." So Zayn smoking caused my baby girl to have asthma. I'm not mad, just surprised and relieved that it's nothing insane. "Otherwise, she's perfectly healthy and you can take her home tomorrow."

"Thank you." I walk over to Gabby and realize that she's fake-sleeping. "Babe, I know you're faking."

"Is it true? Does Rayleigh have asthma?"

"Yes, but nothing more. We can deal with it. Tons of kids have it. Don't worry." I place a kiss on her nose as we fall back to sleep.
