And when the night gets dark, and there's no way back, I'll call your name, but it's fading, we're fading; After leaving school for nine months, Fenella is ready to go to high school again.... Just not ready to face her best friend and former crush Calum. What Calum doesn't know is that he's the father of Fenella's baby. When given the chance to raise his child, even though both parents are only 16, the opportunity is taken away when he finds out that Fenella is going out with his now ex-friend Ashton Irwin.

26. Help Out

Calum's POV

There was a moment of silence as I hid my face from Fen's attempts to get along with my mom. Knowing her, I was afraid that the friendliness wouldn't last long. So much for first impressions.

Before long, I heard slippers shuffling against the hardwood floor. My mom, in her night clothes, with a cup of tea. She looked a bit lonely. Dad was on business and I was usually the only one with her. I tried making eye contact with her, but didn't even get a smile in return.

"About time..." Fenella mumbled under her breathe.

"Be nice.. Remember?" I whispered, before taking a large step into my house, before she could walk in.

I just wanted to give my mom a big hug when I saw her, but waited to see how angry she really was .

"Look, Mrs. Hood. I know you don't know me very well, but something you should know about me is that I would never do anything to put your son in a condition that would ruin his life. Calum is my best friend. I wouldn't want to do anything like that. I know you might be mad at him for doing that stupid little thing, which has now created a big problem, but instead of being mad at him, I'd rather you take your anger out on me. He's your son. He's human. He makes mistakes. Everyone does. For as long as I've known Calum, he's been nothing but perfect, and I know he tries to make you happy. He's done nothing but try to apologize to you and explain, but you won't even give him a chance. Don't you miss having him around? Knowing you have someone in the house with you? Someone to like wash the dishes and watch television with you? Calum has been simply peachy staying with me, but he misses you. Alot. I know you might want nothing to do with the baby, but remember, he is your grandson, even if Calum and I aren't together as a couple. He has traces of your DNA and no matter how much you hate him, I won't care. He has me, and that's all that really matters. I'm not going to force this child on you, because that would be wrong. I just want you to open your heart to this idea, and put into consideration that Calum, the boy that you gave birth to, loves you so much, and just wants his mom to love him back. Now. Mrs. Hood. I really do hope you put into consideration what I have. Thank you for letting me into your home, I hope you have a good day. Calum, I believe it's time to go."

She got up from my couch and walked outside, where it had just begun drizzling. She acted as if she didn't notice and kept on walking.

"Bye mom..." I walked out with Fenella, closing the door behind me, hoping for some kind of response from her soon.

"Well, that was surely interesting."

"Indeed it was Calum," she responded, trying to shield herself, finally putting knowledge into the now pouring rain. I took my jacket off and put it over her head, wrapping my arms around her as we ran in the rain.

We were about a block away from her house when a loud beep was heard from behind.

It was Ashton. He slowly pulled the black SUV over to the two of us with a familiar look of anger on his face.
