And when the night gets dark, and there's no way back, I'll call your name, but it's fading, we're fading; After leaving school for nine months, Fenella is ready to go to high school again.... Just not ready to face her best friend and former crush Calum. What Calum doesn't know is that he's the father of Fenella's baby. When given the chance to raise his child, even though both parents are only 16, the opportunity is taken away when he finds out that Fenella is going out with his now ex-friend Ashton Irwin.

11. Excuse Me

Fenella's POV

I felt offended that Calum was refusing to look my straight in the eyes while I was speaking to him. I don't blame him though. He's in an awkward position, facing the fact that I'm pretty sure I friend zoned him yesterday. I looked a mess anyways, Xander kept me up all night and no matter how many times Ashton tried to help, the poor kid just wouldn't sleep.. Until like 2 am.

There was an awkward moment of silence between us both before the 7:30 entrance bell, decided to ring at 7:33, how wonderful.

"How was the homework for you last night?" I asked him.

He hesitated to answer. "I didn't do it, I was too tired from soccer practice. Now that Ashton's gone, I have to work twice as hard on the team."

"I hope you coming over didn't effect that."

"No biggie, what about you?"

"Meh, I didn't do it either, but I have a note from my parents saying that I have to take care of Xander 24/7 since they're away. I can add you to the note if you want, I know how you're famous for not doing homework and how you kinda need this homework grade to actually pass the test."

He smirked at me. I grabbed out the note. He glared for a while. We both ended up laughing before he grabbed the note and copied my father's hand writing perfectly.

'P.S, Calum has volunteered his hours to help Fenella, as well as go to soccer and bass practice.  I apologize for the inconvenience of these two students not getting homework done. You're cooperation is greatly appreciated- Mr. Tates.' I read out loud. I laughed at the accuracy, from how her crossed the t's, to how the e's looked like side way w's.

"Even after a year you can still write out my dad's signature perfectly,"

He simply shrugged, it's a gift he would say.

We walked into the class room and handed the teacher the letter. He looked up and down at us from time to time, as we tried pulling off our most serious faces.

"So, you two are..?" He asked after he finished reading.

"No.. Noooo, not at all. I felt bad that Fen had to be at home by herself and volunteered to come over once and a while to help out."

Offended.. Twice in.. Under less than 12 minutes, I though, checking the clock.

"Well, looks like you two are excused from the day, good luck with what ever is going on at home Fenella, now both of you take your seats."
