The 64th Annual Hunger Games.

In Panem there's a game. It's not a pleasant game, it's just sick.
Children are chosen to fight to the death. Killing each other for the prize to be a victor.
Becoming a victor means you are bathed in riches and are made famous throughout all of Panem. I come from District 1 and were one of the richest districts. We're also trained in the art of survival, I am actually quite skilled with knives.
In my district it's supposed to be an honour to compete in the games but in reality I am completely terrified to ever have to enter the arena.
My father once won the games and he has set a bunch of rules for me if I ever do...one of them is to not fall for any of the other tributes.

And that's exactly why I am screwed.

6. Training. Day 1

Hunter's P.O.V

I had slept really easily that night, falling asleep with a grin and dreams of Imogen. My lips still tingling from hers. Sasha woke me up really early. I don't know how she got into my room!
"Come on we have to get up! We wanna get to know everyone and impress them," she said smirking. I shrugged, what was the point of getting to know them if your going to kill them in the arena anyway. I shooed Sasha away and got into the my training clothes. They were kind of tight and uncomfortable. I walked out greeting my mentor and we ate breakfast. He was a good mentor, he helped a lot and usually gave us good ideas for survival. Though I did say usually! He agreed with Sasha that we should pretend to be "star crossed lovers." They said it would get us more sponsors. But I don't get how we can get more sponsors by that, it's a killing game not a love story. Sasha had taken it way to seriously and can't get over me. We found our way to the training hall to see nearly all the districts already there. I looked around and saw her.

Imogen. I didn't even know her but she was so beautiful. I couldn't see her district partner anywhere so I edged closer.
"Hello again," he said smiling. She went completely red and looked around worriedly. She was moving her head gesturing to someone. Suddenly her district partner was next to her. He was pretty short but still looked tough and intimidating.
"This is Luke. My best friend and district partner," Imogen explained. He nodded with a furrowed brow. He looked a little confused.
"We met in the elevator yesterday," I added but Imogen's eyes cut me off. I realised she didn't want Luke to know about our kiss. We were interrupted by the sound of a women's voice. She was an instructor and was explaining the training procedures. When she finished everyone began to split up doing there own things. I followed Imogen.

She saw me coming before I had a chance to charm her.
"Yesterday meant nothing," she stated. Throwing a knife so it pierced straight in the dummy's heart. I was a little hurt and confused.
"But you kissed back," I began till a thought crossed my mind. "Are you and that Luke guy in a relationship?" She began laughing and I was a little relieved.
"No! But I really don't need to be with you either, this is the Hunger Games!" she explained. I knew she had a point. Suddenly Sasha was beside me and throwing knives at the other dummies. As the knives hit the fake hearts the noise echoed through out the hall. I had a feeling the two girls were trying to "out throw" each other. Soon the instructor was calling us back so we could begin training together.

Imogen's P.O.V

I felt bad for blocking Hunter out like that kiss meant nothing. Because even though we hadn't met before it felt like something. The rest of the training went by quickly and it was quite easy. Showing our agility and climbing skills. All the "careers" did it easily, especially this girl called Sasha who was in the same district as Hunter. My father was in the careers and he said it helps to have allies. I believe him and I want allies, I just don't know about the careers. I know it's like breaking tradition but it's hard enough to kill strangers, what about killing your allies that know your every weakness? We we're finished with training and I was about to go to the elevator when I hand slipped over my mouth and dragged me the other way. The person spun me around and I nearly groaned at the face, can you guess, of course it was Hunter.

"Do you want to go see the Capitol?" he asked excitedly. I frowned where we aloud to leave the building? I sighed and began shaking my head.
"I can see it from my floors windows!" I said turning back.
"Please," he whispered sadly. "Just please. It'll be fun." I felt so guilty I couldn't just leave him hurt. I turned back around.
"Don't make me regret this!" I said. He slipped his hand into mine and we ran out. Past the Peacekeepers and Capitol citizens. I laughed as the rush of cold air blew in my hair. I hadn't been outside for a while and I needed the fresh air. We talked for a while and Hunter was actually really nice. I learnt a lot about him and his life in District 1. His eyes were gorgeous and I couldn't stop staring. We walked around a little keeping our heads low. We stayed close to the main building but far enough to still have fun.

We walked into a little alley way. It was so small we were pressed together, shoulder to shoulder.
"So does Luke like you?" he asked quietly. I laughed.
"Why do you care?" I teased. But then I saw his serious look.
"No I don't think so, we're just best friends," I answered. He nodded but still looked doubtful.
"Don't you see how he looks at you?" Hunter asked. I frowned, I had never seen "the way" Luke looked at me. I thought it was always in a protective brotherly way. Hunter looked concerned.
"Wow he must feel rejected," he joked. But suddenly there was a guilty pit in my stomach. Hunter took my hands in his and stared into my eyes, like he was staring into my soul.
"Don't worry I was only joking," he said. Now his nose was pressed on my nose. I felt his warm breath, it smelt minty. It was too much I let forward and pressed my lips on his. They moved his synch and I felt happy.

"OMG IT'S THE TRIBUTES FROM 1 AND 4!!" A girl screamed. Suddenly there was a huge crowd surrounding us. Shouting encouraging things, how they would be betting on us and sponsoring us.
"Your so handsome, will you marry me? My father has a bunch of cash," a girl asked Hunter. He smirked as he saw me blush. Soon Capitol people were completely mobbing us and I couldn't move. I looked concerned at Hunter but he was having fun taking pictures. I didn't think we were this famous, I didn't think we were famous at all! Suddenly there was shouting and everyone departed. Standing in front of us were ten Peacekeepers and  two instructors. They were staring at us and looked very angry.
"Your all in a lot of trouble!" one of the instructors said gruffly, pulling us along. We came back into the building, shoving us into the elevator. We where probably in a lot of trouble. Four Peacekeepers followed us up. I stepped out at Number 1. Hunter winked at me grinning and I blew him a kiss. The elevator door shut and I went into our floor.

Waiting for me on the couch was Destiny, Luke and Harry. They all looked angry but extremely concerned, especially Luke. They rushed up to me the second I walked in. Checking me over and making sure I was alright. I laughed and pushed threw them.
"Do you know how stupid and dangerous that was!" Destiny exclaimed. She cared a lot about what people thought about her and her tributes. I rolled my eyes.
"Trust me, it was a really good opportunity!" I said. "People like me and Hunter now because we went outside. They got a chance to meet us so now we'll have a lot of sponsors!" I explained. Luke looked very doubtful and Destiny scoffed.
"People of the Capitol don-" Harry cut Destiny off my coughing. She glared at him.
"Maybe she's right it was a good idea they will get a lot of sponsors," he said. It was the loudest I had heard him talk and I knew he was a bit hopeful. Suddenly my eyes lit up, Harry was on my side.

"I have ideas for you two for the one on one training and the interviews," Harry said delighted. I was shocked at his sudden enthusiasim. Maybe all the other tributes were uptight snobs, they usually were from District 1. But I had pulled of this stunt and it could help us! I has exhausted from being mobbed so I decided to go to bed. Destiny was still grumpy, I bet half the reason was because she had been wrong. Luke hadn't said I word since I mentioned Hunter and I, maybe Hunter had been right... My confusing thoughts made me fall asleep and I was soon snoring happily.
