The 64th Annual Hunger Games.

In Panem there's a game. It's not a pleasant game, it's just sick.
Children are chosen to fight to the death. Killing each other for the prize to be a victor.
Becoming a victor means you are bathed in riches and are made famous throughout all of Panem. I come from District 1 and were one of the richest districts. We're also trained in the art of survival, I am actually quite skilled with knives.
In my district it's supposed to be an honour to compete in the games but in reality I am completely terrified to ever have to enter the arena.
My father once won the games and he has set a bunch of rules for me if I ever do...one of them is to not fall for any of the other tributes.

And that's exactly why I am screwed.

4. The Capitol.

Imogen's P.O.V

Destiny led us over to a huge silver train. It was long and elegant. We walked into the main cart, where I heard we will be eating. It was so grand for a train. Everything was polished and diamonds were incrusted in almost everything. Some of them looked familiar, maybe they were the ones our District made. We went to the couches, they were plush and comfortable. When I sat down I sunk into them. In front of us sat a man, he looked familiar from the Victors Village. He was very skinny and seemed to be shaking a little.
"Hello, we're this years tributes," I said extending my arm. He refused to shake it, he refused to even look at us. I knew why. District 1 did win often but it must be hard to mentor people only to have to watch them die.
"Harry," he said stating his name. I nodded.
"He's a little shy and traumatised by the games. He has been ever since he became a victor," Destiny whispered to us. I nodded and tried starting conversation. He ignored us and continued looking out the window.

It was finally time to eat and I could smell the Capitol food from my cart. I wandered over and saw plates being served. It was chicken, a dish we had quite often. I sat down and tuck in. This chicken was so different from the one back on, it was delicious. As soon as I put a piece in my mouth I felt explosions. It was spicy, bitter, sweet. I saw Luke go for seconds. After wards we had desert. Something called chocolate mouse. Destiny served Luke and I, drizzling some liquid on the top, she said it was called Melted Chocolate. I had never tasted chocolate before but my father had told me about it. He says it's an honour to taste chocolate.
The cake was sweet and delicious, the sauce was something I couldn't describe. But I was suddenly craving more chocolate, probably from the sugar. I looked around the table, as if Luke had read my thoughts he asked, "Where's Harry the mentor?"
Destiny wiped her mouth and shrugged. As if planned it he trudged through the door. It looked as if he had just woken up. He sat down beside Destiny so he was facing Luke.

"So..." I began trying to break the silence. No one spoke up.
"Got any advice for us in the arena?" I asked Harry. Destiny looked slightly worried by this question. Harry's cutlery clattered on his plate.
"Don't speak to me about that place," he said.
"But your our mento-" I was cut off by Destiny. She had coughed and was glaring at me. Harry stared at me with a sad look in his eyes.
"There were only four of us left in the arena, including me. I was nervous because I didn't think I could ever win. There was some rustling in the bushes near my camp. I slung my knife before I realised who it was...my district partner. She was also a dear friend or crush, and I had just killed her," he explained his story about the games.
"The rest of the games I waited at the other end of the arena, I think I was nearly at the boarder. I was there to wait so the other tributes could kill each other because I couldn't do this anymore. I am surprised the game makers didn't send some mutation on me but it worked and here I am today. Living in shame and regret." He finished and then rushed out of the room.

Luke was staring down at his food and I felt a bit guilty. Destiny sighed and went to her room.
"Get some shut eye before we get to the Capitol," she said before leaving. I was full so I decided to go back to my room, followed by Luke. We nodded to each other and went our separate ways. I flopped down on the bed, it was silk and soft. Soon I was under the covers and asleep. I fell asleep into a nightmare.....

I was in the hunger games being chased by some brutal mutations. They were hollowing and screaming. I ran and ran, smashing into trees. They were following me. I bumped into a tree and fell to the ground. I was stumbling to get up when one of them was already on me. They ripped at my skin tearing me apart. I fainted while screaming.

I screamed, sitting up in bed. Sweat was dripping down my forehead and my head was pounding. The door crashed open and Luke was standing in the shadows. He flicked on the light and came over. He embraced me with a hug.
"I heard screaming?" he said. I told him about my nightmare.
"Don't worry Imogen, your safe here," he reassured me. Then Luke tucked me in and then lay beside me. He put his arm around me in a brotherly way.
"I am scared for the games Luke," I admitted.
"Me too," he said yawning. We fell asleep but were soon woken by Destiny. She led us out to the main cart. It was dark outside yet the Capitol was glowing. Colourful lights lit up the whole city and the buildings touched the sky, in very abstract shapes.

"It's beautiful..." I whispered.
