MatiIsNotOnFire & AmazingAeryn (Dan & Phil FanFic)

When Mati and Aeryn move into a new flat, they least expect to be next door to Dan Howell and Phil Lester. It all kicks off when the girls start playing My Chemical Romance at full volume, drawing the guy's attention. Dan wants to join the party, but Phil isn't so pleased - until he sees Aeryn. The guys are shocked at first, when the girls don't recognise them from YouTube, but then they see it as a way to make genuine friends (or more?;). That is, until Aeryn figures it out, but promises to keep their fame a secret from Mati.
Mati and Dan end up being in the same law class, whereas Phil likes to stalk Aeryn to her job, at the bakery. Mati still doesn't know the boys are famous, even when they participate in some videos, thinking it's 'just a vlog'. But what will happen if she ever finds out they're famous?

1. Unpacking

Aeryn's POV

"What the hell is in this box?!" I cry, my muscles screaming at me.

"My comic book collection," Mati replies, like it's the most obvious thing ever.

"... Do you have any Batman comics?" I ask, suddenly feeling interested.

"Yeah, of course I do," she squeaks.

We're moving into a new flat, in London. For the past ten years or so, Mati and I have lived in Liverpool, with our families, as neighbours. We've been best friends since we met, a decade ago. She's three years younger than me, making her nineteen, and I'm twenty two. Mati's studying law, in the University of London, whereas I've got a degree in art and design. For now, I'm working in a local bakery, starting Monday, next week. Originally, I'm from Dublin, and she's from Cardiff.

The drive from Liverpool to London was quite... eventful. I managed to fall asleep, with my headphones on, getting some much needed rest. Unfortunately, Mati knows the code to get into my phone, and thought turning my music up to 100% would be fun. It scared me so much, I almost peed myself, and my ears are still ringing from it. Yeah, thanks Mati.

The door to our new flat is open, so I stagger in, dumping this incredibly heavy box on the floor. Box after box, the hall fills up, and our driver leaves, after we pay him. A lot. Anyway, we move all of the boxes into the lounge area, which already has some furniture, we pre-bought.

There's a large, white, fluffy rug in the middle of the floor, with a pine coffee table on top of it. On one side of it, there's a black, leather love seat, on another side, there's a black, leather sofa, then there's a small, flat screen TV opposite it. Opposite the sofa, there's a balcony, with a good view of London, and the balconies beside us.

Towards the back of the lounge, there's an attached kitchen, with a breakfast bar, which is pretty cool. Everything is black and white themed, with granite counter tops. When I walk out of the kitchen/lounge, there's the hallway, with the front door to my left, and a corridor to my right. At the very end of the corridor, is the bathroom, and before it, there's two doors opposite each other, being the bedrooms, I guess.

I join Mati, back in the lounge, to see she's in her underwear, consisting of a black, lace bra, and matching panties. For the trip, we were classy enough to wear tracky bottoms, and baggy football shirts our Dad's gave to us as kids. Clearly, she prefers being... free. Her hair is slightly messed up; it's dark brown, dead straight, with bangs, almost covering her umber coloured eyes.

Rolling my eyes at her, I rifle through some boxes, until I find mine, labelled 'tech. stuff'. Inside it, I find my docking station, and plug it in, on the breakfast bar. Tapping on a My Chemical Romance album, I put it up to full volume, and begin sorting through my boxes. Mati starts freestyling, dancing practically naked, miming into a hairbrush. I start giggling, and start up with the air guitar.

I find a lollipop in one of the boxes, labelled 'important stuff', so I take off the wrapper, and pop it in my mouth. Quickly, I grab the hairbrush from Mati, and run it through my messy hair, trying to make it look okay again. I have black hair, with bright purple bangs, which I think looks awesome. My eyes are bright blue, and I have a silver lip ring, so I guess you can class me as 'emo' if you really want to. Same with Mati.

In one swift movement, I toss the brush back to Mati, and she effortlessly catches it. We move into the hallway, gathering all of the boxes that need to be taken to our bedrooms. Helena starts blasting from the dock, one of our all time favourite songs. We begin head banging in the hallway, jumping around to the bass of the song. A knock on the door makes me stop, but Mati continues, pretty happy.

Annoyed, I yank open the door, taking the lollipop out of my mouth. Basically, I freeze, as I see two stunning guys. Jesus Christ I'm wearing awful clothes, why now?! Awkwardly, I give a small wave, and a sheepish smile.

One of them has light brown hair, flicked across his forehead with bangs. His eyes are a chocolate colour, similar to Mati's. He's a lot taller than my 5'3" figure, but then again, it's not difficult to be taller than me. He's wearing a pair of black skinny jeans, a plain white shirt, and a blue jacket. Overall, he's very good looking.

As for the other one, he's about the same height, and they have the same hairstyle. However, this guy's hair is jet black, and pair of stunningly blue eyes gaze out from underneath his bangs. He's absolutely gorgeous. I want one.

"Can I help you?" I ask, quite loudly, trying to speak over the music.

The black haired one says, "Can you turn the music the down?"

At the exact moment the brunette says, "Damn, My Chemical Romance, and underwear dance parties, I'm in!"

Okay, well that could have turned out slightly better. The brunette continues to check out Mati, as I awkwardly stand in the doorway, the lollipop between my teeth. Mati squeals, and I'm guessing she's figured out we have company. Sighing, I unzip my jacket, and throw it at her, in a weak attempt to cover herself up.

"Sorry, we'll turn the music down," I sheepishly smile at the black haired one, looking up at him through my eyelashes.

For the first time, he looks at me, and his jaw drops slightly. Wow, am I that ugly? I know I've just been in a car for a few hours, but tone it down a little!

"H-Hi, I'm Phil," he stutters, holding his hand out to me.

"Hi, I'm Aeryn," I grin, not feeling nervous at all.

"Are you from Ireland?" he asks, as the other guy walks past me, clearly to hit on Mati.

"Yeah, I am," I shake his hand, moving out of the way, gesturing for him to come in.

I close the door behind him, and skip over to the docking station, where I turn the music down. It's still playing, but just as background music. Mati reappears, fully clothed in her trackys, and a random t-shirt she must have found. Actually, I think it's mine...

"So, have you guys just moved in?" Phil asks, glancing at all of the boxes.

"No, we just like keeping everything in boxes," Mati sarcastically jokes, running the brush through her hair.

"Yeah, I'm assuming you guys live next door?" I suggest, dragging a box of clothes into my room.

"Yeah we do," Phil smiles, helping me lift the box onto the bed.

In my room, there's a black framed bed, tucked in the corner, without any covers. There's also a walk in wardrobe, but that's it. During the week, before I start working, I plan to buy myself some furniture, like a desk and stuff. Hopefully, I'll be able to create that dream room I've always wanted, since I was a kid.

"Do you want some help, with unpacking?" Phil kindly offers, his soft blue eyes gazing into mine.

"Sure, but you don't have to offer, just because you're here," I tell him, opening the box with the majority of my clothes in it.

"It's okay, I want to help."

Effortlessly, he carries one of the really heavy boxes into the walk in wardrobe, and begins hanging my clothes up. In there, there's also a chest of drawers, so I guess I have a little bit of furniture. Not really enough though...

"Thank you, I really appreciate it," I say, a little bit louder, because he's further away from me.

"It's no problem, Dan and I were just playing some video games anyway," he calls back.

So, Dan and Phil. Their names suit them. They're surprisingly nice, too, so at least we have someone to look out for us. Up until now, it's just been me, Mati, and our families. No one else really cares about us.

Struggling, I try pulling my bed sheets over the duvet, but I'm too small to do it. I end up collapsing on the bed, the purple bedding tangled around me. In case you haven't guessed, purple is my favourite colour. Anyway, I let out a loud sigh, and stand up, trying to untangle everything.

"You okay?" Phil chuckles, coming back into my bedroom.

"Can you help me, please?" I ask, finally separating the sheets, and the duvet.

"Yep," he takes it from me, and in one swift movement, has the duvet inside of the sheets.

"Are you, like, some kind of bedding Guru?" I giggle, taking one side of the duvet.

He laughs, but doesn't deny it, and we place the duvet neatly over my mattress. I follow him back into the wardrobe, to see there's one box of my clothing left, on top of the chest of drawers. On the side, it says 'A's underwear'.

"I didn't really want to go through that box..." Phil blushes, sheepishly glancing at me.

"It's okay, I don't really mind," I say.

Quickly, I put everything into the drawers, with one spare drawer, at the top. I'll use that for random junk, probably. We go back into the lounge, where Dan is organising our crockery, placing it gently into the cupboards.

"I'd offer you guys a drink, but... We only have water," I awkwardly scratch the back of my neck.

"It's fine, we only live next door if we get thirsty," Phil gives me a reassuring smile, "Do you guys have any food? You just got here, we don't want you to starve."

"Um no, we'll just fast until tomorrow, when we get a chance to go shopping," I say, my stomach already aching from the thought of not eating.

"We'll take you out for dinner, it's on us," Phil immediately offers, and I blush.

"You don't have to do that. You've already helped us with unpacking-"

"What if I called it a date?" Phil interrupts me, and my heart stops.

"A-a date?" I stutter, completely taken off guard.

"Yep, a date. I'm pretty sure Dan would also like to take your friend out," he coaxes, and Dan eagerly nods from beside us.

"Wait-" Dan butts in, "Don't you know who we are?"

"Um... Should I?" I question, confusion taking over me.

Phil and Dan share a look, before Dan speaks again, "No, no, sorry, just had a stupid moment."

Well that's clearly a lie. I've read fan fiction, when someone says that, it means they're famous, but they're trying to keep it a secret. Most likely, it's because they think we'll treat them differently if we know their true identity.

"You guys are famous... Aren't you?" I raise an eyebrow, folding my arms across my chest.

"Look, please don't tell Mati. Let's keep this between us, yeah?" Dan urges, almost dropping one of the plates in his grasp.

I think about it for a minute, "Okay, fine, but if she finds out, the blame's on you."

"Thank you," Dan lets out a breath of relief, before stacking the plates neatly.

"So, will you go out with me?" Phil asks, holding one of my hands.

"Am I going to be attacked by your fans?" I ask, liking the feel of his hand on mine.

"No, our fans are reasonably sane, when it comes to girls," he reassures me.

"Okay then, I'll go out with you," I smile, already liking the thought of maybe having a boyfriend.

"Yay!" he does a small jump, and pulls me into a tight hug, "Come over at seven, we're the first door to the left."

"I'll be there, don't worry," I glance at my phone, to see the time is three, in the afternoon.

So, I've been here for an hour, and I've already got a date tonight. World record, right here! Then again, Phil doesn't know much about me, he might not like me when he gets to know me. Or what if his fame gets in the way of us? Or we might just have one date, but then he tells me he just wants to be friends...

"What's this about a date?" Mati asks, appearing next to Dan, to help him with some cups.

"Phil's taking me out to dinner, later," I give Dan a bit of a glare, hoping he'll ask Mati to come as a double date.

"Aw, that's sweet," she smiles, struggling to reach the highest cupboard.

Dan leans over her, taking the cup from her hand, and places it on the shelf easily, "How about you come with me? Make it a double date?"

If Mati was still holding the cup, she would have dropped it by now. Shocked, she looks at Dan, trying to find some sign that would tell her he's joking. When her search returns negative, she dumbly nods.

"Great! We'll see you two at seven," Dan chirps, "We better be off, I think we left the door unlocked."

"See you later," I wave slightly as Phil, and he gives me a heart stopping smile.

We hear the door click shut, and we start cheering. Jumping on the spot, we hug each other, squealing over the fact that we have a double date tonight. Giggling like pre pubescent girls, we start high-fiving, skipping around the lounge.

A loud knock on the wall gets our attention, "We can still hear you!" Dan shouts.

We both break down into a fit of laughter, literally rolling on the floor laughing. All of our important stuff has been unpacked, but a few boxes remain, dotted around us. I think Mati has unpacked the bathroom stuff, so we can shower, and actually prepare for the date.

Mati goes to shower, whereas I find my laptop, and connect to our new broadband. I type 'Dan and Phil' into Google, and begin looking through the results. So, they work for BBC Radio 1, on a Sunday, 7-9 PM, and they're 'YouTube famous'. I subscribe to their YouTube channels, before watching some of Phil's videos.

For starters, he's absolutely hilarious, and he is the cutest thing ever. Dan's videos are also really funny, but he seems to dress like a woman in a lot of them. Anyway, I like their videos equally, and I begin to watch some more YouTubers. There's Marcus Butler, JacksGap, KickThePJ, Crabstickz, like literally loads of them. Phil, Dan, PJ, and Chris are the 'Fantastic Foursome', whatever that is.

Mati emerges from the bathroom, her hair slightly damp, her make-up perfected already.

We have a date.

With two celebrities.

But only one of us knows of their fame...
