MatiIsNotOnFire & AmazingAeryn (Dan & Phil FanFic)

When Mati and Aeryn move into a new flat, they least expect to be next door to Dan Howell and Phil Lester. It all kicks off when the girls start playing My Chemical Romance at full volume, drawing the guy's attention. Dan wants to join the party, but Phil isn't so pleased - until he sees Aeryn. The guys are shocked at first, when the girls don't recognise them from YouTube, but then they see it as a way to make genuine friends (or more?;). That is, until Aeryn figures it out, but promises to keep their fame a secret from Mati.
Mati and Dan end up being in the same law class, whereas Phil likes to stalk Aeryn to her job, at the bakery. Mati still doesn't know the boys are famous, even when they participate in some videos, thinking it's 'just a vlog'. But what will happen if she ever finds out they're famous?

Aeryn's POV

Honestly, I'm not even embarrassed that they heard us fangirling. We're young, we're allowed to go crazy over boys. Phil's so sweet though, he's just like a ball of candy floss! Okay, forget I said that, it sounds a bit creepy. But he is a complete sweetheart.

It's about ten in the morning, and I'm still lying in bed. My room is flooded in sunlight, because I don't have any curtains yet, so I don't know how I'm not up. I hate sleeping when it's light. Because it was hot last night, I'm half out of the covers, half under. It kind of looks like I'm spooning my duvet, with one arm and leg over it, my other arm and leg underneath it, hugging it. Also, just pointing out, I sleep in my underwear.

Only pointing that out, because Mati let Phil into the flat, and into my room, whilst I'm lying practically naked on my bed.

"Hey, sleeping beauty, wake up," Phil whispers, brushing my hair out of my face.

"Phil?" I mumble, cracking one eye open.

"Yes, Phil," he laughs, his breath smelling a lot fresher than what mine probably does.

"Phil!" I squeak, sitting bolt upright, burying myself in the covers, "I'm not dressed!"

"It's no worse than you being in a bikini," he tells me, raising his hands in defense, "C'mon, I made you breakfast. Come over when you're dressed."

Sighing, half in amusement, half in annoyance that Mati would just let him in, when she knows how I sleep, I get out of bed. Quickly, I change, into clean underwear, a pair of purple skinny jeans (I love purple okay, don't judge), a My Chemical Romance shirt, and some Converse. Too lazy to bother with my hair for now, I pull it up into a messy bun, my bangs falling into place. I spray some perfume, just in case, suck on a mint, and head out to the kitchen.

Mati is sat at the breakfast bar, staring intently at her phone. She looks a little off, with a crease on her forehead.

"Hey, Mati, you okay?" I say, sitting beside her.

"Yeah, I'm fine... Dan and I just had a bit of a heart to heart, that's all," she tells me, letting her hair cover her face.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I suggest, resting my face on the cool granite of the bar.

"... What the hell are you doing?" she giggles, looking down at me.

"Phil woke me up at an unearthly time," I mumble.

She breathes a short laugh, "You know he came in at ten, right?"

"I know! So early!" I joke, hopping up, "They made us breakfast, let's go."

Mati's just wearing her underwear, an oversized, white t-shirt, and a pair of grey boy shorts underneath. She leads the way out of our flat, locking the door behind her, as we head into the boys' flat.

"Wait," I say, grabbing Mati's shoulder before she walks in, "Did you and Dan kiss last night?"

"Only on the cheek, who kisses on the first date?" she laughs at that thought, so I just kind of awkwardly look at the floor.

"Um, yeah, crazy, right?" I say, biting my bottom lip.

"Wait, you and Phil kissed? Like, lips to lips, kiss?" she makes me look at her, jumping around on the spot, "O-M-G you and Phil kissed!"

"Shh!" I hush her, uncontrollably giggling.

She presses her lips together in a smug smile, before asking the question that's clearly on the tip of her tongue, "Is he a good kisser?"

I roll my eyes at her, and shove her into the flat. Dan jumps, clearly not expecting the loud entrance we gave them. Phil's not in sight, probably in the kitchen or something. Anyway, Mati happily bounds up to Dan, wrapping her arm around him, talking about something I'm not familiar with. I smile slightly, glad to see her happy.

I follow them out into the kitchen, stretching from being tired. I yawn too, being the classy girl I am, and my face lights up with a bright smile, when I see Phil. He smiles back, wrapping his arms around me, and pulls me in for a quick kiss. Despite how short it was, it leaves me breathless anyway, and wanting a whole lot more. Dan's cheeky wolf whistle kind of ruins the whole moment, though.

"Hey, beautiful," he smiles, his cute, lopsided smile.

"Hey, boo," I reply, without thinking.

When Phil gives me a questioning look for the 'boo' bit, Mati answers for him, "When she really likes someone, and cares about them, she calls them boo. She picked it up from her brother."

"Are you two official, then?" Dan asks.

"No, not yet," I reply, "But there is going to be a second date."

"That's awesome, us too. Shall we make this an actual double date, instead of what happened last night?" Dan suggests.

"Sure," Phil and I say at the same time, and Mati nods in agreement.

"But I have a wee condition," I speak up.

All three of them laugh when I say 'wee', making me deadpan them. Wow, real mature guys. I'm Irish, I'm going to say Irish stuff! It's not like I walk around saying 'top of the mornin' to ya''.

"What's that?" Dan asks, and I share a look with Mati - yep, she knows what I'm going to say.

"You let us take you out," I say confidently, folding my arms across my chest.

"We have a wee problem with that," Dan replies, impersonating my accent, "We're the men, we're taking you out."

Mati and I sigh in sync, and as if we rehearsed it, we say, "I guess no second date, then."

I internally high five Mati for her perfect timing with me.

"Okay, that's kind of scary. Did you plan that?" we shake our heads, "Okay, okay, you can take us out."

Mati and I high five, feeling like we've made an accomplishment. I'm not exactly a 'feminist', but I don't want them to pay for everything. It'll seem like we're taking advantage of their fame. Like I'm taking advantage of their fame... Mati's still unaware, and I promised not to tell her. Maybe Dan doesn't want to date a fan, or someone who's going to use his fame. Not that Mati ever would, of course.

We ate our breakfast, keeping a subtle conversation at hand. Dan comments on my shirt, telling me he likes it, and he used to have the same one. That's a bit weird, considering I bought my shirt from the woman's section on the website... It's Dan Howell, don't question it.

"We've got to go shopping," Mati announces, standing up, "So, see you guys later?"

"Can we come?" they both ask at the same time, and we glance at each other.

Well, this should be interesting.

*

I took a quick shower, straightened my hair, and dressed into a pair of denim shorts, a cropped, white tee, revealing my navel, and a pair of Vans. Around my neck, I wear the locket my Mum gave to me, keeping it close to my heart. My outfit shows most of my tattoos to be honest, but I don't really care. If people have never seen a girl with a few tattoos before, they need to take a breather from their Christian club.

I find my sunglasses, and place them on top of my head, not needing them yet. For the end of August, the weather is decent, warm enough to be wearing what I am. We meet up with Phil and Dan in the corridor outside our flats, ready to go. Phil's in a pair of straight leg, black jeans, and a light blue shirt, the same colour as his eyes.

Wow, that sounds corny.

Phil and I go ahead, because Mati left her phone on charge, again. I don't mind though, because Phil gains the confidence to hold my waist, instead of my hand, so we're joined at the hip. They catch up to us, whilst we wait for the lift to get to our level. They're laughing about something, and they look like a really cute couple. Awww.

Something pops into my head, that I need to ask Phil straight away, "Um, I forgot my jacket, I'm going to go get it," I give Phil the best look I can, to get his attention.

"I'll come with you. We'll meet you in the foyer," Phil tells them, and we walk back down the corridor to our flats.

I unlock the door, and close it behind us, to make sure they can't hear us at all. Well, it wouldn't matter if Dan hears, it's just about Mati.

"What's up, Aeryn? Are you okay?" he asks, as I grab my jacket, as not to raise questions.

"What if we bump into one of your fans? What's Mati supposed to think?" I say, shoving the jacket into my bag.

"You're right... I'll text Dan, he'll come up with something," Phil unlocks his phone, and I see that his lock screen is him and I, in each others' glasses. Awww.

A few seconds later, Phil's phone makes a 'ding' sound, meaning he's got a new message, "He said that if anyone recognises us, can Aeryn take Mati to go look at something girly?"

"That's a good idea. I'll bear it in mind," I grimace slightly, starting to worry about Mati's emotions. When she finds out, she's going to be hurt.

"I don't like what Dan's doing, either," Phil reads my expression, "But he thinks it's for the better, and in some ways, I see what he's trying to do."

"Trying to find someone who won't take advantage of him?" I say for him, "I know that's what he's doing, but I know about you two, and I'd never use your fame! Neither will Mati!"

"I know, I know, but this is up to Dan," he leads back out, and I lock the door.

In silence, we wait for the lift. We're both thinking, about the situation Dan has put us in. YouTube is a huge part of his life, how's he going to hide that from her? This is ridiculous! Of course, I should just tell her, but I promised, and I never, ever, break a promise.

Phil breaks the silence, "I was reading through some comments, on the video I posted of us," he starts, so I nod for him to continue, "Of course, there's one or two negative comments, but the majority of my fans are complimenting you, and saying we look cute together."

"What did the bad comments say?" I dare to ask.

"Aeryn, it's not important-"

"Phil, just tell me," I beg him, lightly tracing circles on his hip with my fingertip.

He sighs in defeat, "They just called you a gold digger, and insulted your appearance, but they don't know what they're talking about. They're not truly my fans, if they try to hurt someone I care about."

I smile slightly, "I don't really care what your fans think, if it's negative. But I'm already in love with these fans of yours, calling us cute."

He seems pleased with my answer, as we step into the lift, with two other people who were already in it. One's a guy a bit older than us, and the other is an older woman, coming up to her middle aged years. Both of them give us dirty looks, but I have no clue why. What have we done? Um, got in the lift with you? Right, now convert your glares back to smiles.

"Hey, Phil," the guy says, with no emotion.

"Hey, I thought you moved out," Phil replies, with an equal amount of emotion.

"I didn't. She dumped me before I could move in with her," a little bit of emotion leaks into his voice, showing the sadness he felt for the loss of his girlfriend.

"Oh, well that's a shame. See you around," Phil says, as we step out of the lift.

Mati and Dan are too occupied with taking photos on their phones to notice us come up behind them. During a picture where they both pout, Phil and I shout 'Rawr!' in their ears. Mati screams in surprise, whereas Dan attacks Phil, but quite weakly. The four of us end of laughing, Phil and I practically crying with laughter. They aren't so amused, as we leave the foyer, heading out onto the street.

Holding back our giggles, Dan leads the way into a shopping centre, Mati on his arm. Phil's hand stays on my bare hip, and I inwardly applaud myself for choosing a cropped shirt. Hehehe. Anyway, we manoeuvre through everyone, as it's Saturday, this place is packed. We don't let the other two out of our sight, but I think having so many people is a good thing. This way, everyone's just trying to get through, there's no way someone's going to notice Phil Lester and Dan Howell amongst this crowd.

Yeah, well guess what? I was wrong.

A camera flashes in my face, making me squint in pain. Shouts of 'Phil!' 'Dan!' come out of the crowd, so I leap forward, and grab Mati's hand. In reaction, she lets go of Dan, and he mouths 'thank you' to me, so I just nod once in acknowledgement.

"I just saw the cutest bra ever," I tell her, as it's the first thing to pop into my mind.

"Oh, really? Where?" she buys it. Haha.

"C'mon, I'll show you. We'll text the boys later, they don't want to see us picking out underwear," I lie, knowing that Dan would definitely want to, considering what Mati's told me about him rifling through her underwear draw.

I find the first clothes shop I can, and run inside, searching for the underwear section, in search of a bra that can be classed as 'cute'. I'm not an expert on clothes shopping, I just like anything that's purple, and leather. Wow, I'm so fashionable. Note the sarcasm. Somehow, I find a black bra, with purple lace trim (yes, purple), and thrust one in Mati's size at her.

"See? So cute!" I cheer, with fake enthusiasm.

"Mhmm, it's cute, but it suits you more. It matches your hair," she muses, picking one out in my size, and holding it up to my chest.

"Really? You think so?" I actually gain some interest, "But it doesn't really matter if it matches my hair. It's not like everyone's going to see what underwear I'm wearing," I say, checking the price label.

She smirks, "Not everyone, but a certain someone who's name begins with 'ph' and ends in 'il' might," at that point, I playfully slap her arm.

"Shut up!" I giggle, "We're nowhere near that stage, don't get ahead of yourself."

"You're getting there pretty quickly though, you kiss each other like you're a long term couple," she picks up a pair of matching French knickers, to go with the bra.

"What do you mean by that?" I frown, not sure which way she meant it.

"Like making each other breakfast, and just greeting each other with a kiss. It's cute," she smiles, and makes me buy the matching underwear.

"I'm probably never going to wear this," I laugh, putting it into my bag.

"When you and Sir Philip do get to that stage, you'll thank me," Mati links her arm through mine, leaving the shop.

I laugh at her, "You better be right, that was expensive."
