22. Riddled

That night, Scott called me and told me that Stiles had called him and said that he didn’t know where he was. I was scared about that, but Scott told me to go to the station and let my uncle know, and he would be there shortly after. I agreed, so I got dressed, and drove to the station. I walked in, and ran into a deputy that I haven’t seen before.

“I’m so sorry. Are you ok?” the deputy asked as he held my wrists to steady me.

“I’m fine, and I’m sorry too, but have you seen my uncle?” I asked as I looked at the deputy.

“Who’s your uncle?” the deputy, whose nametag says Parrish on it, asked.

“He’s the sheriff, and I’m Zaira by the way.” I replied with a smile.

“I’ll take you to him, and I’m Jordan Parrish, but you can call me Jordan.” Parrish said back with a smile as he led me to my uncle’s office.

“It’s nice to meet you Jordan.” I said with a smile.

When we got to my uncle’s office, he motioned for us to come in, but that didn’t last long because Scott and Isaac came in. They told him what happened, so we moved back outside his office, and he told Jordan to put out an APB on Stiles’ jeep, and told another officer to look for any basements that Stiles could’ve gotten into while sleepwalking. I followed my uncle, Scott, and Isaac into his office.

“Okay. Is there anything you need to tell me that I can’t tell everybody out there?” my uncle asked as he looked at the three of us.

“Lydia knew he was missing.” Scott replied.

“Can she help find him?” my uncle asked.

“She’s working on it.” Isaac replied.

“Anything else?” my uncle asked.

“I called Derek and Allison for help.” Scott replied.

“Can you find him by scent?” my uncle asked.

Before any of us could answer, Jordan knocked on the door.

“We got it, sir. We found the Jeep.” Jordan said as he stepped into the room.

I wanted to go, but my uncle told me to stay here just in case someone called in about Stiles, or if he happened to wander in. I reluctantly agreed, but I wasn’t alone because Jordan was there to keep me company. I was checking my e-mail when Agent McCall came into the room.

“Where is everyone?” Agent McCall asked.

I thought it was funny when Jordan didn’t answer, but that didn’t stop Agent McCall.

“Did we get a lead on our sword-wielding maniac?” McCall asked, and I knew that he was getting mad.

“Nope. But we’ve got posters up all over town for your guy.” Jordan replied, and that made my night because I knew that it held a hint of sarcasm.

“Not exactly how I described him to the sketch artist.” McCall said with a bit of an attitude.

“Well, you’re not exactly the highest priority of the night, Agent McCall.” Jordan said.

“What does that mean? What’s the high priority?” McCall asked, and I knew that if I didn’t say something, then it would eat me alive.

“My cousin is the high priority. Sorry if that rain on you trying to find the maniacs that attacked your house the other night, but then I’m not sorry because family comes first.” I said with venom dripping from my words.

I knew everything, well almost everything, that went on in the McCall house, and Melissa needed someone to lean on. It was nice that she had me to talk to, but that also meant that I would hold a grudge against Scott’s dad until the day I die.

McCall didn’t say anything, but asked Jordan to do something for him, which he did, and before we knew it, Melissa came in wanting to help. I decided to go with them, but I got Jordan’s number so I could tell him when we found him. I like this new deputy and I hope he doesn’t end up like the rest.

I was sitting in the backseat of McCall’s car trying not to listen to their conversation, but it was hard not to. I finally decided to text Hazelle, and we finally talked things through. When I looked up from my phone, we were at the den where Malia used to live. I followed McCall and Melissa, and watched as McCall pulled Stiles out of the den, and Melissa calmed him down.

“Zia.” Stiles whispered as he looked up at me.

“I’m here, Stiles. I’m here.” I whispered back as I dropped down to his level and hugged him tight.

We took Stiles to the hospital, and everything seemed fine at the moment. I was happy now that Stiles was safe and sound. Melissa told Scott and Lydia that they had school in less than 6 hours, and that they should go home and sleep. My uncle told me the same thing, and I agreed.

As I was driving home, I decided to stop by the station. When I got there, one of the officers showed me where Jordan was at, and he seemed shocked.

“Zaira, what a surprise.” Jordan said as he looked up from his desk.

“Sorry for surprising you, but we found Stiles, and he is ok.” I said with a smile.

“I’m really happy about that.” Jordan said with a smile of his own.

We talked for a few more minutes before I went home, and went to bed. I decided that I would just stay home and sleep the next day because I needed it. I also knew that Scott would keep me in the loop about everything.
