The Spying Game

The 'old school' spies are no longer here, all of them have either switched and gone to the other side or been killed fighting for their country. The times of kid agents are high. It's time for kids to show the adults just how it's done. Tori is set on this, proving herself to her dad, that one day when he looks down at her and says 'Tori, I'm proud of you' is the day she will be able to rest. The spying game as begun.

5. Waiting for some care

I looked at the clock, 8:45. Where was Martha? She was never usually this late. I guessed bad traffic. 5 minutes went. I went up to my room.

My room was pretty typical for a teenage girl. I had quite a lot of stuff, most of it from HeadQuarters as a way of saying sorry for taking my Dad away so much. I could never stay angry, those guys were like my family. No, they were my family! They knew everything about me and they knew when I was happy or miserable. They were the family I wish I had.

Don't get me wrong, I love my dad's side of the family and everything but there wasn't many. Gran and Gramps were getting old and a tad bit confused (they forgot where they lived once... They were in their own house at that moment), My dad sister, Aunty Sandra was nice but snobby, she had one daughter, Alice. Alice was a mini version of her mum, snobbier even. Her and me never hit it off well from the start. That's basically it. You can see why I prefer my HQ family.

I sat down on the floor of my bedroom, feeling the fluffy rug underneath me, another present. I reached under the bed and brought out a medium sized rucksack and I started packing my stuff, just incase. I pulled open the doors of my wardrobe.  I pulled out the essentials, a few tops, some tracksuits, my fluffy socks (what, they are fluffy).

But then my prized possession...

*FLASHBACK*

"..And this is the comms room, short for communication room..." the man droned on and on. I mean I know I wanted to have a tour of HQ and I loved all the special rooms and equipment but this man was sucking the life out of it, like a mega vacuum whose purpose was to destroy all fun. I would much rather be shown around by my dad but of course, he was away fighting crime. So I was stuck with a boring instructor to 'babysit me'. I am not a baby!

We moved down another corridor and passed an odd looking door. "This is the..." the man drivelled on. 'Now's my chance' I thought to myself. I checked once again at the instructor who was still talking. That gave me 3 minutes at the most. I slowly slid out of the door we came through, making sure no one saw me, and went back the way we came looking for something interesting.

Of course it was this door. All the other door were plain and silver with a plain, thick, black curved line that shaped into a circle. But this door had a lot of saying written on it by famous inventors. Before anything else, preparation is the key to success - Alexander Graham Bell. To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk - Thomas Edison.

There was a whole lot more as well, all the lines went round and round in a spiral until the spiral could get no bigger. I was very curious to say the least!

I finished packing and slid the bag down the stairs. I looked at the clock again. 8:55. I was really getting worried now, what if something happened to Martha? My racing thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. I went over to it relieved that Martha was finally here.

I couldn't have been more unprepared for what was coming.
