Broken Sparrow

Verity is young nineteen year old girl, with her life laid out before her, but her life seems to have already ended. The boy she was with since she was fifteen has made her life a living hell, however, her heart belongs to another, but the feral punishments that will follow if she goes with him are unimaginable. People thought London was a city of dreams and prosperity, filled with promise, but now the only promise she is filled with is a nightmare.

It's been five months since I last saw Verity.

I've been stalking her house, waiting for her to leave. I need to explain. The past five months, I've hardly slept. I toss and turn, infuriated that I know who's in Verity's bed. Who holds her, caresses her hair and kisses her softly. She's mine. I haven't touched any drugs since that night, I can't. My guys tell me that I'm losing business, but I don't care, that's not the business I want anymore. All I care about is getting my girl, and destroying Jay.

I never should have hurt her, I was just so angry. It's Jay I wanted to hurt, but I ended up just hurting myself and the girl I love. I didn't realize how badly I hurt her, she was in hospital for so long...

She never went to the police, so that proves that she still loves me. Right?

She finally left the house this morning, with Jay of course. And I've been watching her ever since. Jay drove her to a little cafe, about a mile away from her house. I need to make my move.

I stationed my car in the tiny car park, outside the tatty cafe. My hands gripped the steering wheel until they turned white, as I waited patiently for Jay to leave her by herself. Finally, he went to the bathroom and I slipped out of my car.

Her face flushed white as soon as she saw me, and I knew she was going to scream. I swiftly walked over to her table, and I gripped her arm while she winced. I didn't want to hurt her, but she had to be quiet!

"Verity, please don't scream." I pleaded. "I just want to explain..."

She went frigid in my grasp, and she stopped breathing for just a moment. Maybe she was frightened, or maybe her heart skipped a beat. Either way, I need her. I want to smooth her auburn hair, and tangle my fingers in her mess of curls. I wanted to kiss her thick pink lips, and remember how soft they were on mine.

I pulled her gently and she stood up. "Just come back to my place, just for half an hour, I need to talk to you. I'll leave you alone after this, please."

She didn't say anything, just grabbed her purse and held it tightly to her chest, like a small child clutching her teddy bear. Why was she so frightened? I wasn't going to hurt her. Tears fell down her cheeks as she silently cried. I wanted to wipe them off of her pale skin, and stop her chocolate brown eyes from glassing over with tears. Why was she so afraid?

Her voice was barely a whisper. "What about Jay? He'll be worried." She couldn't look at me. My grasp on her arm loosened when I felt her beginning to shake.

"Just text him while you're in my car, I'll even take you home." My blue eyes stared into her dark ones, and I smiled softly. I wanted her to know that she was safe.

She blinked and more tears fell. She said nothing more as she silently made her way into my car, I got in the opposite side and revved the engine.

She isn't going home.
