Kiss Me

Niall Horan had never had a problem with not having a girlfriend while all the lads had one, until now, especially when the only girl he wants sees right through him. Niall tries to get the girl of his dreams, and lifelong best friend, Juniper (who he calls Junie and sometimes Jay) to fall as deeply in love with him as he is with her.

11. Rose And Charming

Juniper's POV
"Y-You remember?" Niall asks nervously, meeting my eyes.
"Of course I do," I answer, shifting slightly so I'm sitting sideways with my legs draped over his and my arms in my lap. I look down at my hands. "And if I remember correctly, the promise goes two ways," I add quietly.
"If the thought of it makes you uncomfortable then we can pretend it never happened," Niall suddenly says, making me shoot my gaze up to his.
"What?" I say, dumbfounded and a bit heart broken.
"I don't want to make you think you don't have the freedom to leave and date other people and, if you wish, marry them. I don't want a simple promise to keep you captured," He says quietly, tar shining eyes meeting mine.
I immediately take his hand in mine and put my other hand on his cheek. "I don't want to pretend it didn't happen. I made that promise because I meant it," I say, smiling weakly at him. His eyes light up immediately.
"Really?" He asks.
"Really really," I answer, smiling wider.
He smiles back and says, "Not now, of course, but I will propose in the future."
I giggle and reply, "In the future sounds good."
He smiles again and wraps my in a tight hug, his large arms wrapping around my petite frame and his nose nuzzling into my neck. His warm lips leave a kiss there and warmth travels from the spot and throughout my body, making me shiver.
I pull back and look into his gorgeous blue eyes, so bright and full of life. They are the most lively eyes I've ever looked into. Niall feels with his entire heart always. His feelings are deeper than the sea. He loves and hates and he does so fully. He is funny and giggly and childish. He is strong and caring and protective. He is my best friend, and he is absolutely beautiful.
He leans in and kisses me strongly, sending another round of shivers throughout my body as the kiss sends fireworks to dance behind my eyelids. I almost forget to breathe. I love this boy more than I can ever explain. He is my perfect other half, and, as cliché as this sounds, he completes me.
"Ready for bed, love?" Niall asks after he breaks the kiss. I nod.
He untangles himself from me and stands up as I yawn. I stretch my arms out to him, signaling for him to pick me up. He laughs and does so, and I wrap my tired arms around his neck. He carries me all the way upstairs and to the bed, laying my down gently and hovering over me. He kisses me very softly. First on both cheeks, then my eyelids, then my nose, and finally my lips. Then he pulls the duvet over me and runs around to the other side of the bed. He crawls in bed behind me and scoots over to me. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me close, kissing my head.
"Goodnight, Rose," He whispers, calling me by my middle name. I smile.
"You've never called me Rose before," I comment, bringing his hand to my mouth and kissing his knuckles.
"Is it weird?" He asks, making me chuckle.
"No, Niall, I love it. It could be your name for me," I reply, smiling dumbly to myself in the darkness.
"Like mine to you is Charming," He says.
"Exactly," I say.
"Well, goodnight, Rose," He says.
"Goodnight, my Prince Charming," I reply.
I feel his breathing become slow and even and his muscles relax, signaling he's fallen asleep. I untangle myself from him and go back downstairs for some tea. I'm not tired yet. I have too much on my mind to allow sleep to find me just yet.
I pour the tea into the cup and take it upstairs to the mini common room at the end of the bedroom hallway. I open the balcony doors and slip outside, shutting the doors behind me. I pull my hoodie closed and zip it up when the cold air makes me shiver. I huddle my tea cup close to my chest and let it warm me. I gaze out at the brilliant view the snow-covered, moonlit mountainside offers me tonight. The moonlight dances on the snow that lies peacefully on the ground. The new snow as smooth as baby's skin, yet to be touched by anything. The trees are swaying to the song the wind is playing. I can almost hear the moon laughing and the mountains singing along. The busy silence is awake tonight.
"Junie?" A voice says from behind me. I turn to see Liam coming out onto the balcony in his pajama pants, slippers, and a sweatshirt. He smiles and comes to stand by me.
"What are you still doing up?" I ask, looking back out at the landscape.
"Couldn't sleep. Figured walking around a bit would tire me out. What about you?" He asks.
"Busy mind," I answer plainly, taking a sip of my tea.
"Want to talk about it?" He asks, sitting down on the cushioned couch on the balcony and motioning for me to sit too. I sit next to him and sigh.
"I'm just scared," I say quietly.
"Of what?" He asks.
"Of losing Niall."
"That's not possible. He loves you too much to ever let you go," Liam says.
I nod, but I'm scared of losing him in a different way. A much harder, permanent way, by the hands of a past destroyer of love. I know he's in jail now, but I still worry for Niall.
"Thanks, Li," I say, leaning forward to kiss his cheek. He smiles and opens his arms. I go right into them, snuggling up in them. I feel his steady heartbeat through his sweatshirt and it calms me down. He's the dad of our little group. "Daddy Direction" as directioners like to call him, and they couldn't be more accurate. He's compassionate and wise and so loving. I can't wait to meet the lucky sucker who will get to have him as a dad.
"We should go to bed now, Juniper. It's passed midnight, and we know Louis will be getting us up around six. El came in and said he has five alarms set with Christmas music," Liam says, chuckling and standing us up, his arm still around my shoulder.
I laugh. "I do too."
"I figured you would," He says. He opens the door for me and shuts it once he's inside. He walks me to my bedroom door.
"Try and get some sleep. Night Junie, love ya," He says, kissing my forehead. He turns to leave, but adds, "Oh, and Merry Christmas."
I smile widely. It's CHRISTMAS. "Merry Christmas, LiLi. Goodnight," I say, and we both go into our separate rooms.
I snuggle up against Niall again, setting my tea cup on the night stand. I wrap his arm around my waist and close my eyes, letting dreams of sugarplums dance in my head.
