Long Lost Twin

My name is Lizzie, my Mum recently died from cancer so I was forced to live with my aunt. That also meant moving schools and making new friends. I did have a Dad but I never knew him. Mum did, they split when I was born. He took my twin and Mum took me.

34. Chapter 33: Shopping

“Where to?” I asked. We were all stood in a circle in the mall.

“Um . . .” Eleanor began. “How about us girls go off and you boys go off?”

“Sounds great. Let’s meet up here in two hours.” Liam replied and we all split up.

“I need to get something for Liam.” I announced when we were far away.

“Why?” Eleanor asked.

“It’s his birthday in two days.” I replied.

“Oh, right. Of course.” Eleanor sighed. “Then it’s your birthday in two days, right?”

“Yup,” I replied.

“Twenty-one, right?” Paula asked.

“Wow.” Eleanor and Paula gasped.

We stood outside of Hollister and we looked at each other and nodded and then we walked in.

Harry’s POV –

“Louis?” I whispered and pulled Louis away. The others were looking around the shop for something for Lizzie. Then later on we were gonna stick Lizzie and Liam together so the girls could buy Lizzie something and the boys can buy Liam something.

“What do you want now?” Louis snapped.

“What’s up? Since Lizzie came you’ve been different. You haven’t spoken to her either.” I questioned. I needed to know so I could sort things out. Hopefully before Lizzie’s birthday. Louis will probably be the only person who hasn’t bought her anything.

“It’s complicated. Just drop it.” Louis growled and stormed off. Wow. This is going to be tricky. I followed Louis and caught him again.

“Lizzie told me what happened the last time you saw each other, is it because of that?” I asked him. He looked at me and glared.

“Yes. I don’t want it to happen again, I also don’t want Lizzie thinking she has a chance with me.” Louis snapped.

“What happened to her being the love of your life?” I asked. He rolled his eyes.

“I moved on. Get over it.”

“At least treat her like she meant something to you. You’re supposed to be friends. I do remember you ignoring her texts. Think about how she feels? She lost you as her boyfriend and now she’s lost you as a friend. It’s not fair.” I watched Louis roll his eyes.

“Fine. I’ll talk to her.” He gave in.

“Thanks.” I said and gave him a hug. At least he will still speak to her. She didn’t do anything wrong.

Lizzie’s POV

“What’s going on between you and Lou?” Eleanor asked. I shrugged and looked through the rack of clothes. I couldn’t find anything Liam would like. I sighed and continued onto the next rack of clothes. There had to be something he would like!

“I have no idea. He stopped talking to me the last time you saw me. Liam was the only one who visited after that.” I told her.

“Louis didn’t want to come so we couldn’t leave him so Liam thought it was only fair that he went to see you on his own.” Eleanor sighed. “What did happen while we were all out?”

“We talked. That’s all.” I murmured. I couldn’t tell her the truth, could I? It would hurt her. Louis would then blame me if Eleanor broke up with him. He has kept it to himself for over a year.

“You sure?” Eleanor pressed. I could see she was trying to find out the answers. “’Cause Louis kept apologising to me and said he felt guilty but he never told me what he did. Was he mean to you?”

“No.” I paused. I sighed before continuing. “He kissed me.” I heard Eleanor gasp.

“He kissed you?!” Paula gasped. I nodded and looked down.

“I’m sorry.” I mumbled. I then found a t-shirt Liam would like and made sure it was in his size. I put it along with the clothes I was going to buy for myself.

“It’s not your fault. I just wish you told me when it happened. Then I could confront him about it. I could do it now, but he would dislike you even more.” Eleanor sighed.

“He dislikes me?” I asked. I felt like I had been stabbed.

“I don’t know. It seems like it. He’s been weird since you climbed into the limo yesterday.” Eleanor muttered. “I have tried talking to him about it but he won’t tell me.”

“Do you think he blames me?” I asked. Eleanor shrugged.

“Guess so, or he would still treat you like his friend. I haven’t seen him text you since he last saw you, which is weird.” Eleanor shook her head and ran her hand through her hair.

“I think you should just forget about him, Liz. He isn’t worth it if he’s treating you like this.” Paula suggested.

I went to pay for my clothes after I tried them on. Paula and Eleanor then paid for theirs and we left the shop.

“I’ll try and talk to him again later. Plus he has explaining to do.” Eleanor promised. I nodded and gave her a small smile. She pulled me into a hug. “Don’t worry. You did nothing wrong.”

After the two hours passed, we met up with the boys then went to get some lunch as Niall wouldn’t stop complaining. After lunch, Harry pulled me to the side.

“I spoke to Louis.” Harry began. “He’s acting the way he is because he doesn’t want to lead you on or accidentally kiss you again. He also said he’s moved on.” Again, I felt like someone had stabbed me.

“That it?” I asked and Harry nodded.

“I asked him if he would try and be friends with you again and act nicer towards you. Please tell me if he does that or not.” I nodded.

“I think it would help the situation if you looked like you had moved on too. So maybe we could pretend to date?” Harry suggested. I looked at him. I was confused.

“Do you think that would work?” I asked and he nodded. “Sure; sounds like a great plan.”

We walked back to the group; Harry’s hand was entwined with mine.

“Okay. Lizzie and Liam, do you want to go look around in shops while the rest of us go off?” Niall asked. I nodded and I saw out of the corner of my eye that Liam nodded as well.

Before Liam and I left the group, Harry kissed me on the lips quickly.

“Bye.” He said before walking off with the others.

“You and Harry?” Liam asked. I nodded.

“He won’t hurt me again.” I assured him.

“Okay.” Liam laughed. “Just be careful, okay?”

“Okay. Anyway, it’s only to show Louis that I have moved on.”

“Have you moved on?” Liam questioned me. I shook my head.

“Sadly, no,” I admitted and looked down. I knew my cheeks had to be a deep shade of red.

“You don’t need to be embarrassed about it.” Liam told me and wrapped his arm around me and gave me a gentle squeeze.

Liam and I went into various different shops but we didn’t buy anything. I didn’t because I didn’t want to spend all of my money in one day. Then after an hour of wandering around, Liam got a text saying we could re-join the group.

We decided to go back to the hotel so the boys could get ready for their concert tonight. We had to leave at half past three so they could rehearse.

Paula, Eleanor and I sat at the back of the limo on our own to get some space away from the boys so we could gossip without them interrupting.

“Are you excited for the concert?” Paula asked me. I shrugged.

“I guess.” I replied.

“So, you and Harry,” Eleanor began.

“He asked me out again. I guess he deserves another chance.” I sighed.

“You two are so cute together!” Paula gushed and I immediately felt myself blush.

“Thanks.” I mumbled.

“We should all go on a date together! Me, you, Paula, Liam, Lou and Harry!” Eleanor suggested. Paula and I nodded in agreement.

“Sounds fun!” Paula replied, her whole face lit up with happiness.

“Definitely,” I answered.

“It will have to be before we leave to go to New York. I’m really gonna miss LA.” Eleanor told us.

“Hopefully we come back sometime.” I murmured.

“Hopefully you get hired to work with the boys!” Paula added. I looked at her.

“Hopefully, then I will always be with Liam.” I replied.

We arrived at the hotel and as soon as we all got out of the limo, screaming fans attacked the boys for autographs and pictures. Paula, Eleanor and I managed to escape and make it to the hotel room without any injuries.

“God, some fans are crazy.” Eleanor moaned. “I hate it whenever I’m with Lou on a date and he gets attacked by fans. It’s plain annoying. I feel like I can never have time alone with him.” I felt lucky when Louis and I went on dates and we never got attacked. The occasional fan came up to us but that was it. Not crowds of fans.

The boys finally managed to get away from the crowd of screaming fans and made it back up to the hotel room safely. They went into their room to get ready while us girls sat in the main room. We didn’t have to get ready because we were staying backstage so no one would see us.

Eleanor’s phone started ringing while we watched the TV. She turned down the volume quickly on the TV and answered her phone.

“Hello, El speaking.” She answered. “Leave tomorrow? You’ve got to be kidding me!” Eleanor’s voice started getting louder. “Okay, okay. I’ll be on the plane tomorrow. Thanks, bye.” She hung up and bit her lip as she locked her phone and slid it back into her pocket.

“What’s up?” Paula asked her. Eleanor’s forehead creased as she frowned.

“I gotta leave tomorrow. Work called me in. I’m going to be away for three weeks.”  Eleanor announced.
