Trouble Maker

"He hasn't been the same since you guys got together. He seems happier and kinder. He acts like a totally new person, like he has a new purpose to live. You're changing his life."

"No, he's changing mine."

*Zoey’s POV*

“Oh my gosh. Look at this place! It’s so cool.” I squealed, spinning in circles. The boat they booked is amazing! It’s so big and fancy looking.

“You’ve never been on a boat like this before?” Liam asking, plopping down on the circular couch.

“My dad took me and Louis fishing once in his boat, but it was a canoe. And that’s about it.” I sat down next to Liam.

“Oh I remember. That was the worst weekend ever! We ate at that weird Chinese restaurant and I got food poisoning.” Louis chuckled.

“You weren't the only one who suffered. There was one bathroom in our cabin and you spent the entire weekend in it.”

“Okay, can we not mention my embarrassing stories in front of my friends?” Louis begged.

“In her defense, you brought it up mate.” Niall laughed, sitting next to me.

“It’s getting kinda late. Ni, grab your guitar. Let’s make some s’mores.” I suggested.

“I’ll grab the chocolate. Liam, you get some marshmallows. Zayn, find graham crackers. And Harry, start the fire.” Louis said.

I sat crossed legged on the couch with Niall next to me and Liam to my right. Zayn sat on the other side of Liam. Harry sat to Niall’s left with Louis.

Liam stuffed a few marshmallows onto the sticks and passed them around. Niall started to play The One That Got Away by Katy Perry on his guitar.

“The summer during high school, when we first met, we’d make out in my Mustang to Radiohead. And on your 18th birthday, we got matching tattoos.” He sang, changing the words a bit.

“Used to steal your parents’ liquor and climb to the roof. We’d talk about our future, like we had a clue. Never planned that one day, I’d be losing you.” Liam continued.

“In another life, I would be your girl. We’d keep all our promises. It’d be us against the world. In another life, I would make you stay. So I don’t have to say, you were the one that got away. The one that got away.” I sang softly.

“You were June and I was your Johnny Cash. Never one without the other, we made a pact. Sometimes when I miss you, I put those records on.” Harry took the next verse.

“Someone said you had your tattoo removed. Saw you downtown, singing the Blues. It’s time to face the music, I’m not longer your muse.” Louis smiled at me.

“In another life, I would be your girl. We’d keep all our promises. Be us against the world. In another life, I would make you stay. So I don’t have to say, you were the one that got away. The one that got away. The one, the one that got away.” I sang the chorus.

“All this money can’t buy me a time machine. Can’t replace you with a million things. I should’ve told you what you meant to me. ‘Cause now I pay the price.” Zayn sang. His voice is mind blowing, the way he puts his whole heart into just one little verse.

“In another world, I would be your girl. We’d keep all our promises. Be us against the world.” I sang louder. Then the boys joined in, “In another life, I would make you stay. So I don’t have to say you were the one that got away. In another life, I would make you stay. So I don’t have to say you were the one that got away. The one, the one that got away.”

I bit into my s’more and wiped my lip. When I looked up, all five boys had their eyes on me. I blushed a bit. “What?”

“Since when do you have a voice like that?” Louis was incredibly shocked.

“I don’t know.”

“Wow. Lou always talked about how great you are, but..” Zayn started.

“Great is an understatement. She’s amazing.” Niall cut him off. He had a stunned look on his face, almost as if he was in a trance.

“Um, yeah. Nialler, are you alright?” Zayn asked, as Liam waved a hand in Niall’s face.

“Finish your s’mores. I wanna go downstairs and watch a movie.” He blinked a few times before smiling softly and looking down.

“There’s a downstairs?” I asked Liam, with wide eyes.

“Yup. There’s a bathroom thing, TV, and bunks for sleeping.” He chuckled.

“Lou, do you even share with your family? It’s like she’s never even seen something like this before.” Zayn said.

“He tries to, but my mum refuses to take it. It’s like she doesn’t want me to be happy at all!” I sighed.

“No, baby sister. Mum wants you to have a regular life, she’s not going to spoil you.” Louis smirked.

“But that doesn’t mean you can’t spoil me.” I fluttered my eyelashes and folded my hands, bringing them under my chin.

“Nice try. But I rented this new movie called “Identity Thief,” and it’s supposed to be really funny.” Louis said.

After changing into my pajamas, a simple black tank top that said ‘I’m the queen’ with a pair of blue boxer shorts, I sat down on my bunk. The boys had on flannel pajama pants and tee shirts, everybody but Niall. He had on black basketball shorts and no shirt.

“Hot damn.” I whispered a bit too loudly. I quickly covered my mouth once I realized what I said. Luckily, no body heard me, except Niall. He gripped the mattress of the top bunk next to me and pulled himself up. Then, he scratched the back of his neck, flexing his bicep, making sure I was watching. I have to admit, my jaw dropped a little. Niall folded his hands behind his head and smirked, admiring the effect he had on me.

“Okay, movie time! Move now if you need to. Get up during the movie and you die.” Liam stated, turning on the TV.

“…here?”

“I’m sorry, what?” I shook my and looked up. I may or may not of been thinking about Niall and his shirtless self.

“I said can I sit here? Can’t really see the TV from my bunk.” Niall looked into my eyes.

“Um, yeah sure.” I scooted over and lifted my blanket for Niall to scoot under. Harry sat with Louis on the bunk on top. Zayn and Liam took the bunks next to us. Niall put his arm around me so we both had enough room.

Somewhere towards the end of the movie, my head dropped to Niall’s shoulder and my eyes felt heavy. Niall looked down at me. “You’re alright. If you feel tired, just go to sleep. It’s been a long day for all of us.” He spoke quietly, stroking my cheek with his thumb.

I nodded slightly and nuzzled into his warm chest. His hand on the arm around me found my waist, gripping it softly. His grip held me close to him, as if Niall was afraid I would move away from him. I placed my hand on his hip that was opposite to me.

Pushing his lips onto the top of my head, I felt his kiss through my whole body. I was warm and comfortable. I felt safe. I felt loved, in the arms of my brother’s best friend.
