The Boy Next Door

Aubrey Coles just moved to Holmes Chapel, England from NYC. Aubrey meets the boy next door, Harry Styles, who is going to audition for the X Factor. They become best friends, but who wants to be more than friends? Harry makes it through the auditions, and has to go to boot camp. His mom invites Aubrey along, and she accepts. But why does a phone call make Aubrey suddenly leave?

3. Chapter 3.

*2 weeks later*

I look up from my drawing, and see Harry packing last minute items for the big trip. Right, today’s the day he’s leaving for the X-Factor. I know he’ll come home either later tonight or tomorrow, whether he makes it or not. I don’t think he’s allowed to tell me or anyone if he made it. Personally, I've never seen the show.

Harry leaves his room, and I rush downstairs. I pull open the front door and wait until Harry comes out. The sun is still rising, and it’s beautiful. Harry’s mom- er, mum- comes out first, then Harry. I run over to him.

“Harry!” I yell, getting his attention.

“Hey, Aubrey,” he says.

“This is for you. Good luck today,” I say, handing him a bracelet. It’s made out of green string woven together, and says CHASE YOUR DREAMS in white string. “I saw it in town and thought of you.”

“Wow, thanks.” We both smile. Harry puts it on his wrist, and climbs in the car. He waves to me, and I wave to him, and the car drives down the street.

*late that night*

It’s really late, and I’m sitting at my desk, with just a lamp on, finishing my drawing. I look up when I see a light go on in Harry’s room. He’s back! I wonder how he did?

Harry has his back turned to me as he changes into a black T-shirt. He doesn't know I’m watching. I look back down at my drawing to admire it. It’s a cartoon girl wearing a bear hat.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see a light flashing. It’s Harry trying to get my attention with with a flashlight. He holds up his notebook.

Shouldn't you be asleep?

Not tired. If Harry made it, he’s not showing it. If he didn't make it, he’s not showing it. He could be an actor. Did you make it?

Can’t tell you.

It was worth a shot. He smiles.

I’ll probably see you tomorrow. Night.

Night. Harry turns his light off. Yeah, I guess I should go to bed, too.
