2. Chapter 2.

I smile and get up, and search my closet for some Converse. I find some black and white high tops, put them on, and jog down stairs.

“I’m going for a walk!” I yell.

“Okay! Have fun!” my mom yells back.

I walk out the door, into the nice weather. It’s sunny out, and warm. I decide to go into town to get a smoothie. I take out my wallet.

Okay, I have ten dollars… ow! I snap my head up.

“I am so sorry!” I quickly apologize.

“It’s alright. Hey, I’ve never seen you before. Are you new?” A brunette with dark red tips asks.

“Yeah. I’m Aubrey.”

“I’m Miranda. I’m sixteen.”

“Same.”

“Cool.” Miranda smiles. “So, where do you live?”

“I live next to a boy named Harry… He’s also sixteen and is-”

“You live next to Harry Styles?!” Miranda looks at me, shocked.

“Uh, yeah. I didn’t know he was already so famous.” I smile, shyly.

“Oh yeah, but only in this town. You’re so lucky. If he makes it through, you can be best friends with a celebrity!”

“Yeah, but we haven’t really talked yet,” I admit.

“What are you waiting for? You have to talk to him!”

“Okay, I’ll talk to him after I get my smoothie.”

“Can I join you?” Miranda asks.

“Of course.” I smile, and we start to walk into town. Miranda talks almost the whole time. She tells me about herself, like how she has two older brothers and one younger sister. She says she’s talked to Harry a few times, but they never became good friends. She says Harry is in a local band called White Eskimo, and they won Battle of the Bands recently.

We walk into a little cafe and order. After we get our smoothies, we walk around town, just talking. Miranda tells me all of the latest news that’s going around town. She really likes to talk. That’s fine with me; I’m more of a listener.

Soon, Miranda has to go. “Here’s my number. Text me whenever you want.” Miranda hands me a piece of paper she just scribbled on.

“Thanks.”

“Well, I’ll see you around. Bye!”

“Okay, bye!” I turn to go home. I like her style. I think back to what Miranda was wearing. Brown shorts, a dark red T-shirt, and a short, camouflaged jean jacket with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. It goes perfect with her hair. She also has brown eyes, like me. Besides the hair style and brown eyes, we don’t look alike.

I’m suddenly pulled out of my thoughts by a voice.

“Hey, Aubrey!” I look over and see Harry and two other boys. They must be his friends.

“Hey,” I respond, as he jogs towards me.

“Where are you coming from?” Wow, he has a low voice.

“Hey, Harry! Is that your girlfriend?” one of the boys teases, and starts laughing. The other boy joins him. Harry just ignores them.

I hold up what’s left of my smoothie to answer Harry’s question.

“Did you go alone?” he asks.

“No, I made a friend along the way,” I answer.

“Oooh! An American! You better keep her!” the other boy says, before laughing again.

“Shut up, Sam!” Harry yells, turning to the boy. Then he turns back to me. “I’ll get a smoothie with you anytime.” He smiles.

I smile back. “Okay, thanks. I’ll see you later.” Harry nods before I turn to go.
