7. Chapter 7

Chase's P.O.V

The stake impaled itself in the bloodsuckers shoulder and I stepped back into the shadows. She cried out and yanked it out, realizing what it was. Her eyes scanned the field and landed on me, taking in my appearance, she obviously knew what I was.

She backed up and almost fell into the hole that was behind her, catching herself at the last moment, then skirted around it and ran. I broke into a run after her, dodging headstones and holes as I raced after her. She was not getting away from me!

When we'd exited the graveyard, she took a turn and when I reached that point, she was gone. I stood and turned scanning every possible place she could hide but she was gone. Gone.

That little- No. Just focus on finding her.

Carefully, I stepped towards an alley that lead down through the block and stepped forward, checking behind me every thirty seconds and checking around every corner.

"Leave me alone! You won't find me! Just stop searching." Her voice called out from it seemed like everywhere. I whipped around, expecting to see her try and make a break for it, but she was gone.

She would pay for killing my aunt. I knew it was her, the cameras showed her draining her, and then talking with that scumbag Herrera. I will find her, and I will kill her.

I backed out of the alley after I'd gone halfway through and scanned the neighbourhood. My eyes landed on an abandoned house with boarded up windows and I knew I'd hit the jackpot.

I climbed the steps and walked around till I found a window that had all the boards ripped off and pulled my flashlight out of my bag and another stake and jumped in. I scanned the room with the flashlight seeing a flash of golden eyes before they disappeared again. She was here.

The room came up empty, so I pulled up my collar and advanced, swinging the flashlight behind me, holding the stake out in front of me and entered the next room. Also empty. And again, and again the rooms came up empty. But something was watching me, I could feel the weight of her eyes on my back as I advanced, but by the time I'd swung my flashlight back, she was gone.

The only other who's been this hard to find has been that scum Herrera. She was gonna pay. No matter how long it took.
