One and then Two

An eight year old girl got wings. Now she's fifteen, flying at night for the thrill of it and convinced there's another like her doing the same. On her quest to find them, she must be careful not to reveal what she is.

3. School and the New Guy

Monday morning rolled around, wreaking havoc and destruction as usual. Outside my house was the bus stop and so I waited for the big yellow bus to take me away from all that was good and right. School was just like they show in the movies, judgy girls, judgy boys, teachers that definitely don't want to be there and then a bunch of kids that blend. I'm a blender. I have a couple of close friends that I sit with at lunch, avoid conflict and honestly, no one really notices me.

My locker was in the corner of the school hallway, just where I like it, and waiting in front of it was my best friend, Selena.

"No my gosh, Alex, you won't believe this. You know theres a new guy that's joining today? Well he just walked by and I can safely say that, while we have absolutely no shot at dating him or even being noticed, he is seriously incredibly absolutely gorgeous," she gushed.

I held up a hand to stop her speaking and plopped my books into my locker before replying.

"How cute? On a scale of one to two hundred and fifty three?" I asked her in mock seriousness.

As a reply I got hands thrown up in frustration and a mutter as she walked away that may have been about being not appreciated. I shook my head with a smile and walked to my first class.
