5. Flyers Raining Down On Us

A week had passed since I met Fynn and I was crushing hard. I clammed up whenever he was near and mumbled when I could speak. I had a small feeling he liked me too, but was way to afraid to find out.

I had also gone on two more flights.

Both times I had felt the presence. The first I had felt it on Kilmore hill again and was less exciting. The second time had been different. I had been going on one of my serious thrill rides, flying through the forests and was about to head into the awesome cave that I had discovered. It was a tunnel, really, and had bats. It was the highlight of any trip when I sped through, as fast as I could, waking the bats and flying alongside them. It was thrilling.

I was just about to head into the tunnel when I heard someone do the exact same thing. I saw a figure come out the other end, a small dot in the distance.

They had wings.

My heart stopped and I very nearly fell out of the sky. Someone else existed that was like me. And I had to find them.

After thinking it through, I concluded that it had to be a teenager or a kid- no adult would go whooping through a cave and scare bats. I then started planning. Planning something big.

It didn't matter how much I liked Fynn at this moment. I had just run off to the girls' bathroom in the class before lunch, to get ready for what I was about to do.

I covered myself, head to toe in clothes, I let not a single piece of me be seen. I covered my hair with a bandanna and put a balaclava over my head. I was ready.

I ran to the balcony and flung myself over the edge. Kids screamed around me at what they thought was a suicide attempt. I picked myself up and unfurled my wings when I got to the first floor and began to throw flyers I had made down into the school. I was flying above everyone, phones were out, cameras were out and some people got down and prayed.

I KNOW YOU EXIST. SOMEONE LIKE ME. YOU FLEW THROUGH THE BAT TUNNEL- YOU KNOW THE ONE- LAST NIGHT. MEET ME THERE TONIGHT. I CANT BE ALONE.

I had printed them last night as the idea had formed and just hoped that someone showed up.

Someone had to show up.
