32. OMG

"You ready to do it all again in," he paused as he checked his watch, "Fifty minutes?"

Grace's POV

Liam and I went back to my dressing room. Katie, Nikki, and Steph were down the hall on a break, so we had some time to ourselves. I collapsed onto the couch; my legs were exhausted from standing for so long, but my mind was still going a mile a minute.

"Everyone was so excited and happy! Did you see that, Liam? And they sang along to the covers and they didn't really know the words to my songs but like a few did and the rest cheered and I think they liked them and it is so much fun being up there and seeing all the smiles on their faces and just having people listen meant so much and I don't even know what to say anymore. That was just so awesome."

As I stopped to breathe, I looked at Liam. The corners of his lips were curling into a smile, and there was a twinkle in his eyes.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing. You're just so cute."

I could feel my cheeks turn redder than a tomato.

"Really, you are." He reached out and stroked my hair. Holy freaking cannoli. "For now, you might want to save some energy. I know you're really pumped."

Pumped was an understatement. I was borderline crazy. Add in the hair stroking and I was like #done.

"Okay, I'll try... Not," I grinned. Liam grinned back, and for a second we just sat there, looking at each other.

Li was the first to break the silence.

"We don't have too much time to be alone," he said, lifting his eyebrow to seem seductive. "How about some quick lunch?"

"Okay," I replied, slightly disappointed I couldn't spend more time with him.

"But later..." His grin widened.

Now it was my turn to cock my eyebrow. "This is a new Liam I'm seeing. But heck yes. Later," I winked.

What the mushrooms had gotten into me? 'Later'?! I had never been so over-flirtatious like that before. Weird.

Maybe it was just something about Liam.

We walked down the hallway to find my "glamour crew" hanging out in the green room, which was complete with a fridge, table, and couch.

"Hey! There she is!" Stephanie greeted me as we walked in. She and the two others were sitting around the table, plastic takeout cartons in front of them. "And Liam, hi too, of course," she added, chuckling.

"Hey guys!" I replied, as Liam did the same.

"Leah left these for you," Katie said, indicating two chicken wraps on the counter, labeled Grace and Liam.

"Yum, I'm ravenous."

Liam handed me a sandwich and led me over to the sofa.

Our lunch break was quick; before I knew it we were back in the dressing room, doing final prep for show number two.

"Grace!" Leah exclaimed as she came bustling into the room. "You did great earlier. Now go back out there and kill it again!" She patted me on the shoulder and hurried out to take care of business.

"Okay," I laughed as the door slammed shut behind her. I stood up as my hair, makeup and dress were given a once-over by Stephanie and Nikki, who then wished me luck.

I turned to Liam. "Ready?" He asked.

I grinned and nodded. "You bet."

The second show was just as good as the first, if not better. Everyone seemed really happy and into the music. The questions asked during the Q&A included What was my favorite song? Too many to choose from, but Ed Sheeran was my favorite artist. I, of course, loved 1D too. How long have I been playing guitar? I taught myself how to play at 16. What was my favorite flavor of ice cream? Cookie dough or Peanut Butter Pandemonium from Stewart's.

The meet and greet was awesome, too. There were so many smiling faces and hugs exchanged. It felt so good to get to meet so many people. The really incredible thing was the fact that I had so many fans; two weeks ago, I was completely unknown. It was surreal to me.

When I finally said goodbye to the last group of giggling teen girls, Liam reappeared. Was it possible for him to look even more attractive than he had two hours earlier? I definitely thought so.

"We're all finished! I'll upload all these photos ASAP!" Katie exclaimed, a smile on her face.

"Thank you so much!"

"No problem at all. I hope to work with you again soon!"

"Aw, thank you, me too!" I gave her a quick hug before she went off to pack up her equipment.

I ran over to Liam and threw my arms around his extremely toned torso. He squeezed me back.

"I am so flipping wired right now," I spoke into his ear as he held me close.

"Good. Because we're going to go have some fun."

"Really?" I pulled away from Li to look him in the eyes.

"Yes. As long as you're up for it."

"Of course!" How could this day get any better?

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see." There was an unmistakable twinkle in his eyes. He was up to something.

"Oh, I see. A surprise. Just let me grab my guitar and bag and we can go."

We ran back to the dressing room to say goodbye to Steph and Nikki before collecting my things and heading out towards the main entrance. A security guard met is at the door. "Mr. Payne, Ms. Masciale, there are still some fans outside the door. I will escort you to your car."

"How many fans are we talking?" I asked him.

"About thirty, thirty-five," he replied.

"We'll be okay on our own, I think." I looked to Liam. He seemed hesitant at first, but I think he was alright with it. How dangerous could a few fans be? I just didn't feel like being a princess. I was a girl with a guitar.

"Are you sure? It's really not a problem, Ms. Masciale." I could tell I was making this guy really nervous for the well-being of his job.

"We'll be fine...Rob," I snuck a quick peek at his credentials. "But thank you. If there is a problem I will take full responsibility. But I'm sure everything will be alright." I gave him a smile to put him at ease.

"Okay..." He seemed to calm down a bit. "Have a good evening, Ms. Masciale, Mr. Payne."

"Thank you, Rob," Liam told him as he opened the doors for us. I'm not sure which hit me first, the glare of the setting sun I hadn't seen for hours, or the squeals and cheers that erupted seconds after we were outside.

Sure enough, there were about thirty fans still gathered outside who freaked out when they saw us.

"Hey guys!" We waved. They waved and jumped up and down in reply.

"How about we stop? They all want pictures with you," I asked Liam.

He shrugged. "As long as you're up for it."

"Of course."

Liam stopped to take a selfie with a blonde girl who was obviously super excited. She looked over to me. "Grace! Can you be in the picture too?"

"Me? Um, sure." I walked over and stood next to the girl on the opposite side of Liam.

"Eeek! Thank you so much!" She said after she snapped the photo.

Before I knew it all the fans wanted pictures and autographs. I made it a point to get to every person; these guys had been waiting all day and I wasn't going to walk away now. One by one they pushed to the front of the pack. It was really crazy to think they were all there for me. And Liam, of course.

Once I was pretty sure I had met everybody, Liam took my hand and led me to the car.

"Bye Grace! Bye Liam!" The fans called out.

"Bye guys!" I smiled and waved in reply. "Love you all!"

Seconds later we reached the SUV, slamming the doors behind us.

"Wow." Liam looked at me, turning the key in the ignition.

"What?"

"You must be wiped out."

"Me? Why?"

"You just performed two shows, met over 500 people, and then took pictures with another forty."

"Well when you put it like that..." It was an awful lot for one day. But I was having the time of my life! "But Liam, this is literally a dream come true for me!"

He smiled. "I'm so glad I can come along for the ride."

"Are you kidding me?! None of this would be possible without you."

"Well, thank you, but I would like to think that all I've done is use my connections to open doors for your talent."

I gave him my eyebrow look. "Your opinion is a complete understatement. But I'll go along with it just to make you happy."

"Alright," he laughed, putting the car into Drive and carefully pulling away from the curb. I really wanted to know about our destination, but I knew Liam wouldn't give it away.

I snuck a glance over at him. He was focused on the road, his hands gripping the steering wheel firmly. He was so hot...

Oh my heavens. I needed to stop this silent drooling.

"We're almost there, just a couple more blocks."

A minute later, we pulled onto a side street and Liam parked the SUV. "Umm, okay," I said. I still wasn't sure where we were going; the only things on the block were a laundromat, a couple of bars, and a Jamaican restaurant.

"Here's the tricky part. I've got to cover your eyes for the surprise." Li said, taking a bandana out of the glove compartment.

"Okay..." It wasn't that I didn't trust Liam, I just felt slightly uncomfortable being blindfolded on the streets of New York after dark. Or blindfolded in general.

"Grace, it's ok. Really." Liam chuckled. "This probably seems really weird."

"Yeah, it kinda does. But alright," I replied, laughing a little bit.

Liam helped me out of the car and tied the bandana over my eyes, then spun me around a couple times so I didn't know which direction we were headed in. He then instructed me to walk, his hands on my shoulders.

It wasn't more than a minute before Li gently turned me to the right, then helped me up a stair, through what I assumed was a doorway. It was noisy inside; I figured it was likely a restaurant or bar. We continued walking a little bit before Liam pulled me to a stop.

"One, two, three!" Someone exclaimed.

I heard a guitar begin strumming. What was this?! Wait. I knew that tune...

Arms spun me around, and Liam took off my blindfold as he began singing.

"You're insecure, don't know what for, you're turning heads when you walk through the door..."

My mouth dropped to the ground.

"Don't need makeup, to cover up, being the way that you are is enough..."

"Everyone else in the room can see it," I spun around and there was Harry. "Everyone else but you."

"Baby you light up my world like nobody else,

The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed

But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell

You don't know, oh oh, you don't know you're beautiful,

Oh, oh oh, that's what makes you beautiful."

There, in front of me, were the five boys I had fallen in love with as a teenager, and they were singing to ME. We were standing in a restaurant, with a bunch of people around watching.

"So c-c'mon, you got it wrong..."

I was so embarrassed and so surprised that I literally broke down in tears of laughter. The boys continued the song while I tried my best to recompose myself; It didn't really work. I continued laughing and crying and probably looking ridiculous.

"That's what makes you beautiful!"

They finished the song to applause and Niall got to me first, wrapping his arms around my torso, and I cried into his shoulder. Within seconds, I felt more arms around me, and looked up to see all five boys holding me tight. This was such an amazing surprise.

After I had calmed down and greeted everyone, Liam pulled me aside.

"Grace, there's someone here I'd like you to meet."
