Broken Hearts

Harry and Belle have been best friends since the day they were born. They were inseparable; never one without the other. When Harry chose to audition for The X-Factor, he promised to keep in touch. 4 years later and not one phone call or visit from him. It's like he never existed. What happens when he comes back home for the holidays? Through broken friendships, broken relationships, and broken pasts, all broken promises can be rekindled. Can't it?

"I have something to tell you," I walk over to his bed, sitting down beside him. He doesn't make eye contact and continues to stare at the ground.

"What is it?" I heard him sigh and he finally looks up at me. Something about his expression is telling me it's not good.

"I auditioned for X-Factor." I smile and nod, waiting for him to go on.

"And?" He just shrugs.

"I made it." I jumped off the bed and spun around to face him.

"That's amazing, Harry!" He just shakes his head and looks back down.

"I'm leaving." My smile drops, and I feel like the room is spinning. "Are you okay?" He stands up and quickly grabs my arm, bringing me towards the bed. I sit down, trying to sort everything out in my head.

My best friend is leaving me. The one person who I tell absolutely everything to. The one person who is always by my side when I'm feeling down. The only friend I actually have...is leaving. I felt a tear slip down my cheek. Arms wrapped around me and I laid my head on his chest.

"Please don't cry. I'll be back in a few weeks," I pull away, wiping the remaining tears from my face, Harry's arms still around me. "It's only for a few weeks." He repeats and I nod, taking a deep breath.

"Promise me you wont forget about me and you'll stay in contact?" He moves a strand of hair from my face and tucks it behind my ear.

"I promise. I'll call you everyday as soon as I'm available." He kissed my cheek and pulled in into another hug.

"When do you leave?" He pulls out his phone to check the time.

"In a few minutes, actually. Sorry, I should have told you sooner," my heart drops and I nod. It's only for a few weeks.. I keep repeating in my head.

I help him carry his luggage downstairs and out  to his car. He opens the trunk and I set it in and step back.

"I'm going to miss you." He looks over at me and walks over.

"I'll be back before you know it." He pulls me into a hug and I take in his scent one last time. He gently kisses my forehead and turns around to get in his car before slowly driving away.

And that was the last time I seen my best friend.
