Rose has been quiet all her life. She has a mysterious past that has something to do with everyone to hate her. But what happens when five new boys move into town and starts to take an interest in her?

13. The On-coming Storm

I woke up the next morning wrapped in Niall's arms, skin to skin. For the first time in years, someone truly made me feel beautiful.

It won't last long. But it's nice for now.

I still can't figure out what came over me; I was so mad at him before.

It's just... every time a guy likes me back I throw myself at him before he can move on, then after a while I break it off before he can hurt me. I guess that really is the reason that everyone hates me, because I did that to the wrong guy.

Never mind that, what am I going to do about Niall? I really like him, but he's probably going to dump me. I guess we're not actually going out, but this means something. Doesn't it?

"Good morning beautiful," Niall mumbled, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"I'm not beautiful," I replied, stretching my arms out.

"Yes you are," Niall yawned as he began to get out of bed.

I decided not to fight him on it, even though I knew he was lying.

"Whatever, let's just get ready for school," I said.

We got changed, and not to my surprise Niall kept stealing glances at me. When we finally finished getting dressed, and walked downstairs to find the rest of the boys waiting for us.

"Where's the cereal?" I asked, rubbing my eye.

"In the cupboard on the right side of the fridge," Harry replied.

I went into the kitchen, leaving Niall with the rest of the boys. The door was left slightly ajar, and I could hear mumbling coming from them. I decided I was in the mood to snoop, so I stood just close enough to make out their words.

"... and Rose?" Harry asked.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Niall replied.

"Please, I could hear you guys from down the hall," Liam said, sounding a bit pissed off.

"Fine, things may have... happened... but I don't know where she plans on taking this," Niall said with a tinge of sadness.

"Don't worry mate, it'll work out eventually," Zayn said.

I poured myself a bowl of cereal, and went back to the table. It seemed like they were trying to make it awkward as we sat there. Nobody talked, the boys just ate their food quietly for once in their lives.

We drove to school, and even though I offered to sit on Niall since there weren't enough seats in the car, he declined and volunteered Harry for my seat.

I don't get why he's trying to push me away. I know he things aren't going anywhere, but I don't get how last night was a signal for 'nothing is going to happen.'

I brushed these thoughts aside as I made my way through the hallway to my locker.

I was turning the dial to the lock, when suddenly the hallway went silent. Here it comes.

I pretended like I didn't know that everyone was staring at me as I opened the locker. Much to my surprise, instead of being told off by someone behind me, a flood of small plastic bags erupted out of the small space.

"I thought you would need those so I made sure to get as many as possible, but I guess that will only last you a month, won't it?" someone behind me asked. Instead of my usual enemy, this one was my worst.

I turned around to face him, although I didn't really get to look him in the eyes because I knew that if I did it wouldn't turn out well.

"Nice seeing you again Rose, aren't you glad to see me?" Parker, my ex-boyfriend asked me.

I nodded in response, keeping my head down so that he wouldn't see the tears filling my eyes. Why did he have to humiliate me this badly in front of everyone? As if they didn't think I was a slut already? I guess they're right though.

"Yeah, I'm back from my year long stay in New York. I trust that Stacy has been filling in for me while I've been away?" he asks.

I nod again, recalling all of the recent times I've spent with her and her posse after school.

"Good. I'll see you after school today. You know where to go"

"She's not going anywhere." someone behind him states.

"Who are you? One of her many lovers?" Parker asks, turning around.

"No. I'm one of her many friends," he says, and I realize that it's Liam who is sticking up for me.

"What are you talking about? This slut doesn't have friends."

"Yes she does. And we'll be there with her today after school to teach you a lesson."

"I'd love to see that. See you after school."

"Good, because there won't be much you will be able to see afterwards."

Parker turned and walked away, and everyone went back to their conversations.

Liam walks up to me, and I hug him tightly.

"Thank you," I whisper.

He helped me gather up the condoms that had been packed so tightly into my locker, and dump them in the trash.

We then walked to our first class together, and I began to prepare myself for the on-coming storm.
