Different from the Rest

Kady used to have a normal life. She loved to shop, listen to music, and play field hockey, she was on the reserve list for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. She was even lucky enough to meet One Direction at one of their concerts and she kept in touch with them. Liam and Kady developed feelings for each other and started casually dating. That was until Kady discovered she had a life-threatening sickness. She was in the hospital for months, but overcame the sickness. But, the illness left her with a learning disability and now all her dreams are shattered and she has to rebuild her life. She must go from black to white but must learn there are shades of grey in the middle which are needed for healing.

5. Aftermath

Liam's POV:

Damn, Kady's so hard to please. I'm apologizing and she's just like 'no I don't care about you because you don't care about me.' Sure I never talked to her that much when she was in the hospital, but it's hard to be friends with someone who is different. People judge you in those cases and Kady doesn't understand that. Here I am talking to her when no one else will and she's acting like she's the center of the universe. I dial Niall's number and on the third ring he picks up,"Niall, can you pick me up, I'm in the alley by Starbucks."
"Sure man but what are you doing in an alley?"
"Just pick me up." I press end on my iPhone 5. Just now I notice snow is falling, and I'm pretty sure it didn't just start. Niall pulls off to the side of the road with his brand new ride. I get in and he starts the ignition.
"Really, what's going on?" Niall asks when we're stopped at a traffic light. I ponder wether or not to tell him, he's one of my best mates and he was friends with Kady too.
"You know Kady, the girl I dated for a few months before she went to the hospital? Well, I just ran into her at Starbucks and she's still not doing well at all. She has trouble walking and still has that awful stutter. She still won't talk to me and she's convinced we ditched her while she was in the hospital. I tried to talk to her in the alley but she wouldn't listen and she stormed out," I say. Niall nods thinking this through,"Well, we kinda did ditch her at the hospital. We were on tour so it isn't completely our faults. She liked you the best and if she doesn't talk to you, she won't talk to me."
"I know, I know," I say. We sit in silence as Thrift Shop on Z100 plays. We drive into the parking lot of the hotel and we know it was a mistake. There are loads of fans and the paparazzi are outside in the snow and ten degree American temperatures. Usually I'll go outside and meet the fans, but I'm not in the mood today.
"Shit," Niall mutters under his breath. He turns off the ignition and somehow the girls do not see our car driving into the hotel parking lot. I put my hoodie on and I run face-down. Niall follows me closely behind doing the same hoodie thing. The fans and the paparazzi spot us and Niall is pressing the up arrow on the elevator  inside desperately. Once the elevator door opened, security had to push the paps away so Niall and I could get in. Niall pressed the fourth floor and we were taken away from the chaos.
"Sometimes I wish I wasn't famous," he said to me. I nodded my head in agreement. Once we got to the floor, I went up to the first door on the left and knocked eight times. The room was Zayn's and we do that knock so we know it's each other. Louis came to the door with a big smile spread across his face. It faded once he saw Niall and I looking glum,"Come in lads."
Zayn, Harry, Eleanor,  and Perrie were inside on the bed watching Louis' favorite movie, Forrest Gump on the TV. There was popcorn all over the floor and bed. With the popcorn there was also gummy bears, rolos, and smarties.
"Run Forrest, run!" could be heard from the loud TV. Louis grabs the TV remote and presses pause. Niall, Louis, and I sit on the bed with the others.
"What's going on?" Eleanor asks, she is one of the sweetest people ever.
"Sorry for interrupting, I feel like an asshole for complaining. You all remember Kady, right? Long story short, she thinks we all ditched her while she was in the hospital and I saw her at Starbucks. We went into an alley and I tried to sort things out, but she stormed off. I do care about her but she's being so self-centered," I say. Everything is quiet for a minute, even Louis, everyone is thinking to themselves. Perrie is the one to break the ice,"We didn't ignore her, we just didn't keep in touch with her. That's how girls are, they take everything to heart, her birthday's in three weeks, we could throw her a surprise party? Me and the girls could perform, as well as you boys."
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement except Louis,"Um…my birthday's in three weeks also, is it my party too?"
Everyone erupted into laughter, it's a classic Louis joke. He's all about himself. I grabbed the remote and turned back on Forrest Gump. The next line kinda described Kady, 'life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.'
