Birds of A Feather

It's been two years since the Titans saved the world from Raven's psychotic father; Trigon. Well, Raven had to leave and go back to Azarath for her mother. Her mother was married to new King of Azarath. And Raven, being her only child is the heir to the Azarath throne. She is now a Princess and her mother is unable to have anymore children (thanks to Trigon, of course). Raven is now 18, and she misses her friends deeply, hates the tedious politics of court, and can't stand the people of Azarath with all the looks of disdain she gets day in and day out. She has her heart set on leaving one day, but she loves her mother too much to leave her. So, what happens when an old friend and former flame shows up, missing her and wanting to take her home? Will she stay or will she go? What is there for her in a city that thinks of her as a monster, no matter her high standing in the society?

5. A Whole New World

"Rae! You can't leave yet!" I said as I followed her.

She turned around and smirked at me. "Oh, but I can. I'm the Princess of Azarath. I'm the one empowered here."

I blanched at that. So it was true! How she could be a princess is beyond me. "No, that's not possible."

"My mother remarried."

"Yeah. 'Ohh'. What a wonderful term. Thank you for being ever so compassionate, Rick. Goodbye."

And with that, I walked away from him, and was immediately surrounded by my only too loyal guards.

"RAVEN!" That familiar cry stopped me in my tracks. I sighed. I knew he wasn't going stop, so I turned to him. My idiotic guards filed in front of me to create a barrier between the two of us. I rolled my eyes and did something that no ONE would've expected of me! (Note the dark sarcasm there.)

I flew over them. "Yes?"

"I'm sorry."

I looked at him and burst out laughing. "Well, I suppose I'll forgive you…" I walked up to him, linking our hands and dragged him with me.

"Where are you taking me, love?"

"To my…eeeerrr…castle."

"Ohhh… okay."

"Raven!!" A voice shouted behind me.

I knew that stupid drawl. It was Dean. I growled.

That idiot man that made me want to rip his intestines out and wear them like a belt started to yell at Raven. I heard her growl and felt her stiffen.

"Might I help you?" I drawled back at him in anger.

"Was I speaking to a low life peasant such as yourself?" The insolent guard sneered.

Raven growled and said "Actually, guardsman, he is MINE. As in, my beloved. My boyfriend. My betrothed. You should learn your place. And you'll do well to remember it. Do I make myself exceedingly clear?"

The daft frog of a man ignored her and rounded on me. "You are not welcome here, stranger. Leave at once! You are trespassing on Imperial Land and are in contact with our princess. If you do not remove your hand from her's, I shall remove it from your arm."

"Well, you certainly are as daft as you look. Did you not just hear my Raven? She spoke unto you, telling you of our relationship. She is engaged to me. The ring is on her finger. And if you speak to me or my love like that ever again, I shall rip your intestines out of your pitiful body and wear them as a belt."

He looked taken aback and was about to speak again when Raven silenced him with her powers. "Hush, now Dean. You wouldn't want my temper to flare, would you?" Raven said sickeningly sweet.

Her temper wasn't already through the roof? She's got anger and death rolling off of her in waterfalls!! How could her temper NOT HAVE FLARED NOW?!?!

I smirked, knowing that they've not seen her full temper. And I have. But only once. And it was in the form of her father. Who, she wishes to be nothing like. She isn't, but her eyes, powers, and voice when angered are practically identical to that of e father. She knows this too, I believe she uses it to her advantage.

I turned and purposefully kissed Rick on his lips. Our second kiss ever. And it was just as magical as our first. I smiled as I pulled away and led him to the Great Throne Hall of Hell. (As I like to call it.)

"Mother! I called out to her. She turned away from David and smiled broadly at me.

"Bird, how are you?"

"I'm glorious!" I sang, using Starfire's favourite word.

She smiled at me, then took in the sight of Rick. "Ahhh. And who is your friend?"

"This is Robin, Mother. The boy I spoke to you about. My betrothed."

"Arella! You never told me Raven was spoken for!" David boomed, standing up rashly.

"I did, love. You did not believe me. You insisted that Dean was to be her one and only love. And when I argued with you about how she felt nothing for the insolent piece of muscle, you threatened to punish me."

David turned a shade of puce that would rival that of Uncle Vernon's from the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. I glowered at this man.

"Ohh right. That time."

My mother blushed and said, "Bird, he meant that there would be no snogging for the two of us. Though, he would crack before I."

"Ewwww! Mother!"

"Sorry, but you asked her, Rae-Rae." David smirked, laughing at my expression on my face.

I blanched at them and said, "I could've lived with a simple sentence of 'You probably wouldn't like to hear what your mother and I do' or the like!"

"Rae-Rae?" Rick asked, thoroughly confused.

"Oh, Rii--obin. This is David. My…"

"Father." David supplied for me.

"Really, Raven, why won't you accept me as your father?" David asked me exasperatedly.

"I already have a Father. He might be the Source of All Evil, but he is my Father. And I his daughter." I whispered.

"You were almost wiped from existence by him!"

"David! I know that! But that doesn't change the fact that I already have a father!!"

"Raven, you need to accept me into your life."

"You are my step-father. You are in my life. I am your step-daughter."

"You are my daughter. I despise that sub word. You are my daughter. My heir, my little girl."

"You've known me for two years!"

"I've known you your whole life. That monk that disappeared after he helped you harness your powers? The one that became your father? You remember him?"

I nodded, unable to speak. The monks were the only people supposed to know of this!

"I am he."

I turned, grabbed Robin and walked out of the Hall of Hell. I could no longer stay there. I had murdered Daniel Jackson. He was not alive. He couldn't be. There was no way for that to be possible!

And his name was DANIEL! NOT DAVID!
What has happened in my life? Why does everything just have to happen out of no where? Every time I turn around, something new is happening! The Prophecy, Daniel's death, my friends, Robin, Trigon, Mom getting married, Robin coming here, now David claiming to be Daniel.
