1. WHEN THE RAIN DOESN'T COME

A gentle breeze on this summer day

creeps through the window finding skin

It caresses as the skin crawls

a shiver from unseen hands

Heat too much to bare

bodies asleep in sweat

Fans turn to no usefulness

You will feel this through the night

Dreams of rain and thunder

falling down the window begging

come outside and bask in the coolness we offer

Naked in the rain without a care

The red skin that sits on beaches

worshipping you

you burn them for their idolatry

eyes shielded to your wrath

I sit and wonder when the rain comes

If I have to worship, it is for water

The life giving sustenance

A God in my eyes
