Summer Love

Sage Todd gets shipped off to her grandmothers house for the summer when Sage's dad, Max, gets arrested and put in jail. Sage is just ready for a relaxing summer, dad-free. But it's anything but relaxing when she's put to work at her Grandmother's ice cream shop with the most annoying human on the planet, Collin Carson. He's everything that she's not, care-free and happy.

But soon she's admitting her feelings, and letting her walls fall down. Everything feels perfect. But what happens when her dad breaks out of prison and begs her to run away with him? Family sticks together, right? Or will she stay with Collin, who's always been there for her? Is it just a summer fling? Or is it true love?

6. Chapter Six:

Elise took pleasure in showing me around her house before we met up with Collin and Zander in her living room. They were playing some video game intently, and they didn't even notice us standing there for five minutes.

"Excuse me!" Elise suddenly exclaimed. The boys jumped and Zander paused their game.

"Yes your highness?" Zander said sarcastically.

"People are going to be here soon! You have to get the flashlights ready." Elise said giggling.

"Ughh." Zander groaned before he got up reluctantly and left the room.

"I better go help him." Elise said sighing, throwing a not too subtle wink my way before skipping after Zander.

Collin got onto to his feet and grinned at me. "How do you like Elise?" He asked.

"She's... nice?" I said hesitantly.

"She's pretty straightforward, isn't she?" Collin asked chuckling.

I nodded wildly. "But I really do like her." I said truthfully.

He nodded, smiling. "Good."

It went into an awkward silence as I thought of something to say.

"So how many people are coming?" I asked. He shrugged.

"Only about fifteen more people." He replied.

"We got the flashlights for later!" Elise said excitedly, coming back into the room with Zander.

"Why do we need flashlights?" I said, eyeing the plastic bag full of them in her hands.

"For flashlight tag silly." She said in a 'duh' tone.

I nodded slowly and Elise smiled brightly.

"I think someone is here!" She squealed, running out of the room. Zander rolled his eyes and we all followed her outside, where she was eagerly greeting someone. Another person got out of the car and I froze.

He looked familiar, but then again he didn't

I squinted my eyes to get a better look at the boy but suddenly someone grabbed my hand and whirled me around to face the fire pit.

"Do you want to sit down?" Collin asked, gesturing to the plastic chairs. I nodded and he led me away.

"I'll find you a good s'more stick." He said brightly. As Collin walked around the yard hunting for a stick I felt a presence behind me.

"Hello Sage." A voice said menacingly. I stiffened and turned my head to find the boy that looked familar standing rather close to me.

"Who are you?"  I whispered.

"I'm Marco Harmon." Harmon. The last name registered in my briain. Of course. Son of Luke, who was my dad's friend. Luke came over often, and brought Marco with him once or twice.

"Why are you here? I already know that my dad is coming." I hissed.

"I'm here to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Don't get too comfortable here. Especially with Collin Carson." He sneered.

I winced as he said Collin's name. My dad had gone too far this time. He freaked out about my mom leaving him, and now he thought that I would pull the same stunt.

If I could, I would. But something tells me that now would not be a good time for running.

I knew my dad was a bad person. I knew that I probably shouldn't cross him. But something was screaming inside of me to disobey him.

And I had a feeling that it started with Collin.
