Summer Love

Sage Todd gets shipped off to her grandmothers house for the summer when Sage's dad, Max, gets arrested and put in jail. Sage is just ready for a relaxing summer, dad-free. But it's anything but relaxing when she's put to work at her Grandmother's ice cream shop with the most annoying human on the planet, Collin Carson. He's everything that she's not, care-free and happy.

But soon she's admitting her feelings, and letting her walls fall down. Everything feels perfect. But what happens when her dad breaks out of prison and begs her to run away with him? Family sticks together, right? Or will she stay with Collin, who's always been there for her? Is it just a summer fling? Or is it true love?

5. Chapter Five:

"I brought you a new rag!" Sallys shrill voice broke into both of our trances and Collin took a few steps back. I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm my erratic heartbeat that I'm sure could be heard from a mile away.

I couldn't stand to look at Collin, so I took interest in a perfectly trimmed hedge on the lawn. I almost gasped when I felt Collin's warm hand grasp my chin lightly and turn my head towards him. He went to work dabbing on my nose again and after a few minutes he stood back.

"All cleaned up!" He said grinning. I smiled shyly back at him.

"Now go get ready, we're going to a party. I can't have everyone basing you off of what Kira says." Collin continued, nudging me towards the door. I rolled my eyes, but nodded and went inside and upstairs to my room.

I walked straight to my closet, where I pulled off my dirty t-shirt and shorts and replaced it with a fuzzy green hoodie and capris. I took my hair out of its bun and let my raven black hair fall over my shoulders.

I then walked back out of my room and skipped down the stairs to Collin, placing my hands into my pockets as I went.

"Let's go." I said as I walked out the door. Collin turned around to face me and a certain look overcame him. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"Something wrong?" I asked. He quickly shook his head and tugged on my hand to lead me to the truck. I just shrugged and got in. As we pulled out of the driveway I asked, "Where are we going?"

"Elise George's house. She has weekly bonfires on Saturdays." Collin replied. I nodded.

When Collin drove into a a driveway filled with only four cars I relaxed. I wasn't a people person, and I hated crowds.

I slowly got out of the truck and followed Collin trough a fence gate and into a back yard where there was a fire pit and some chairs set up around it.

"Collin!" I heard a high pitched squeal coming from inside the house.

"Hey Elise!" He called back, his face morphing into that perfect grin. A pretty girl stepped out with light blonde hair. She was pretty short, shorter than me at least.

"Who's this?" She asked, skipping over to us.

"This is Sage, the one I've been telling you about." Collin said motioning towards me.

"Oh! That Sage!" She said in a knowing voice.

"Is Zander here yet?" He asked eagerly, peering into the house.

"Yeah he's somewhere in there." Elise replied waving her had towards the house. Collin happily ran inside, leaving me with Elise.

"So Sage," she began wiggling her eyebrows. "you and Collin."

My eyes widened and I shook my head quickly. "No! I've only known him for a few days!" I exclaimed. She grinned.

"And?" She said skipping into the house. I rolled my eyes and followed her.

I know it's shorttttt. But my brain is absolutely fried from school. I'll try to update again soon when my schedule calms down and I'm able to sit down and actually type.
