10. Back To The Bed

Me and Cris got a taxi from the airport to the hospital. I ran to my hospital room (Which was Charlie's when he was here) and I took a deep breath before I walked in. Charlie was sat there on the bed looking incredibly ill. He was connected to the life machine which made me feel sick. He smiled at me as he saw me walk in.

"Hello" He said, his voice was weak. he held his hand out for me to take which I did.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner Charlie?" I said trying not to cry.

"Because you wouldn't have gone to India, I wanted you to go adventuring. I didn't want to be the person to stop you"

"Your dying aren't you" It was more a statement than a question.

"Never lie to a dying man" He said smiling slightly

"I thought it was never lie to a wounded me"

"That too" He said and I laughed.

"Don't die, Charlie. You promised me you wouldn't"

"I know but I am and I don't think I can stop it this time" I began to tear up and I think he did too but I couldn't see. I sat down by his bed and held his hand.

"Stay with me, until it's over?" I nodded my head.

And I did stay with him, it was slow and painful for both of us but I know he's with Kevin.

I don't normally believe that people you know live on after death but its a nice thought that they are still here. Even if I cant see them its comforting to think that they're always there.
