After 18 Years

Darcy Tanner ran away from home on her 18th birthday, in search of her father. A little over 18 years before, her mother- Ariel- found out that she was pregnant with Harry Styles' child. She fled to America, scared to end the career that he enjoyed so much. Now, when Darcy forces Harry and Ariel to reunite will they fall back into love? Will revisiting their youth be painful or the thing that makes them happiest? Will everything be the same again, even after 18 years apart?

19. The One Direction Family

I yawned and stood up. I was still wearing the outfit from last night. I put on sweatpants and a t-shirt, and shuffled downstairs to get breakfast ready. It was 7 in the morning, and everyone was coming at 9. I made chocolate chip, and blueberry muffins, and put them in the oven for a half an hour. While they cooked I made a coffee cake and stuck that in the 2nd oven. I then began making pancakes and waffles. I made a stack of each of those and covered them in tin foil. Harry came into the kitchen in his pajamas a half an hour before everyone was to arrive.

“How long have you been up?” He asked.

“Hour and a half.” I answered, pulling out the eggs, turkey bacon, and sausage.

“Can I help?” He offered.

“Sure, can you start with the sausage and bacon while I make eggs?” I suggested. He nodded and got right to work. “I'm really nervous.” I muttered as I stirred the scrambled eggs.

“Why?” He asked.

“Because I'm meeting all of the boy's families. They probably hate me because of what I did...” I mumbled.

“Don't be ridiculous! They've only heard good stories about you.” He insisted.

“They saw how it affected you. Even I hate me for that, why wouldn't they?” I murmured.

“Stop Ariel! You're being absolutely absurd. No one hates you and you sure as hell shouldn't hate yourself.” He said, startling me with his anger.

“Sorry, sorry. I just can't help but think that I made an awful decision.” I shook my head.

“That's life though, isn't it? And instead of dwelling on the past you should concentrate on how happy we are now.” He concluded, calmer now. He was right...

“Thank you.” I whispered as I put the scrambled eggs in a bowl, then covered that with tin foil. I pecked him on his cheek on my way to the fridge. He's always known what to say to make me feel better. Harry finished the bacon and sausage while I set out bowls of various fruit. I arranged all the food in a nice way, then laid out the right number of plates and silverware. Lastly, I set the different juices, and the tea out on the counter, along with cups.

“I'm going to get dressed.” I said quickly, speeding out of the kitchen and up the stairs. I dressed in a nice black pair of shorts, and a sort of dressy purple tank top. I brushed my teeth, then went downstairs, where Niall and his family had already arrived, and were talking to Harry. Shoot! I hope I didn't keep them waiting too long...

“Hey! Ariel! Meet my wife, Aleisha, and my daughters, Sophie, and Michelle.” Niall grinned, motioning to each person as he said their name. His wife had dirty blonde hair, green eyes, and she was quite short, good for Niall. She looked away from Harry and I to smile lovingly at her husband and daughters. She had a nice feeling to her, like one of those people who you just like instantly. Both of Niall's daughters had bright blue eyes, and dark brown hair, just like their dad had under the dye. The eldest was maybe 11, and the younger one was 9.

“Hi. I'm Ariel.” I smiled. I gripped Harry's hand hard. I hoped I wasn't hurting him... I shook Aleisha's hand.

“Hi, it's nice to finally meet you.” Aleisha smiled. She didn't seem like she hated me... “Girls, this is your aunt Ariel.” She said. Both the girls smiled, they ran up and hugged me. I was taken by surprise for a second, but I wrapped my free arm around them. I knew for a fact that Niall was also a hugger, I wondered if Aleisha was too. They soon let go and grabbed onto their dad's arms. I then heard Darcy walk up behind me.

“Hey Darc! This is Aleisha, Sophie and Michelle.” Niall introduced them again. “Girls, this is Darcy, your cousin.” He smiled. Both girls gasped.

“Daddy does she know how to braid?” Sophie asked.

“I'm sure she does.” He chuckled.

“Hi Darcy! Would you braid our hair, please?” Sophie asked again, in awe.

“Of course I would.” Darcy smiled. Both girls looked at each other and squealed in excitement.

“I made breakfast, so you guys can go and start eating while we wait for everyone.” I said. Niall, Aleisha, Sophie, and Michelle went into the kitchen.

“Darcy, you stay out here to meet everybody.” I muttered. Darcy, Harry and I sat down on the couch to wait for guests to arrive. Louis and Zayn arrived next, at about the same time.

“Hey! Ariel! Oh my gosh we missed you!” Eleanor ran and pulled me up into a tight hug. I was relieved that I actually knew El and Perrie. I met them in 2013. As soon as Eleanor let me go Perrie was holding me even tighter.

“Hi guys. Uh, Perrie... I can't really breath...” I said. She laughed as she let go of me.

“These are my kids, Jacob, Sarah, Camille, and Matt.” Eleanor said their names in order from oldest to youngest. Jacob was around 12, and he looked almost exactly like his dad. Sarah was a year younger, and she had short, light brown hair, and green eyes. Camille had black hair and blue eyes, and she was 9. Matt was blonde, despite his parents both having brown hair, and he had green eyes. He looked to be around 6.

“And this is Robert, and Charlotte.” Perrie smiled. Robert had light blue eyes but dark hair, and he was probably around 13. Charlotte had wildly curly red hair and dark brown eyes, she looked like she was 8.

“This is my daughter, Darcy.” I introduced again, Darcy smiled at everyone.

“Oh! She's so beautiful!” Eleanor exclaimed and ran up to give Darcy a huge hug. Harry and I laughed at her surprised expression.

“Breakfast is made in the kitchen. Take whatever you would like.” I chuckled when El let go of Darcy. All the kids went running to the kitchen, Zayn and Lou followed them. El and Perrie came over to me once more.

“We really did miss you, and we're ecstatic that you're back.” Perrie said, looking me right in the eyes.

“I missed you too.” I nodded, now on the verge of happy tears. I hugged each of them once more, then they followed their children and husbands into the kitchen. Liam arrived last, with his wife, and one daughter.

“Hi. Ariel, this is my wife, Sameerah, and my daughter, Ariel.” Liam smiled sheepishly.

“Wait, what?” I asked, taken aback. “You named your daughter after me?” I choked.

“Yeah.” He grinned. Harry gave my hand one quick squeeze and smiled at me.

“Wow... That's so... Wow. I thought that you'd all be mad at me for leaving...” I trailed off, the feeling of tears getting stronger. Liam's wife had wavy brown hair, and brown eyes; almost the same shade as mine. His daughter, Ariel, was around 10, and had dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

“We were never angry with you, we just missed you like crazy.” He said sternly. I gave Liam a tight hug, as tears began to fall down my face. When I let go of him I backed up by Harry again and wiped the unwelcome wetness away. Harry caught one that I missed.

“This is Darcy, our daughter.” I sniffled. “Breakfast in ready in the kitchen you can all eat what you want.” I added. Liam and his family went to dish up in the kitchen, and Darcy followed when I nodded to her. Harry and I were alone. I rested most of my weight on him, really tired for it only being 9 in the morning. I let the last few tears escape and drip onto Harry's shoulder.

“Why are you crying?” He asked.

“I was so scared that they all would hate me. Then Liam goes and names his daughter after me... It's just a lot to take in.” I muttered. Harry stroked my head, running his fingers through my hair.

“They all love you. I told you they did.” He smiled.

“I'm so glad.” I sighed in relief. “Are you hungry?” I asked.

“The smell of your breakfast could make anyone hungry.” He smirked. I rolled my eyes.

“Let's go get something to eat, I'm sure everyone else has dished up by now.” I said. We went into the kitchen, as everyone else left to go sit in the living room and eat. All the kids, and their dad's went into the living room. Aleisha, Perrie, Eleanor, and Sameerah sat in the kitchen around the table. Harry dished up a plate, kissed me quickly, then joined the boys and the kids in the living room. I sat down in between El and Perrie.

“Hey Ariel.” El smiled.

“Hey.” I smiled back.

“Darcy seems like a wonderful young lady. She looks so much like Harry...” Aleisha mused. I chuckled.

“She really does. She acts more like me though. But I definitely have seen some of her father's dorky-ness in her.” I laughed. Everybody laughed with me. Making the room seem more bright, warmer.

“I noticed Harry is wearing a ring, and you two aren't even married.” Perrie said.

“So where's yours?” Sameerah finished.

“I've never seen him without that ring though.” El said.

“Yeah, he never took it off...” I mumbled, kind of uncomfortable.

“But you must have kept yours too because you didn't leave it in London.” Perrie continued.

“I did, I kept it in my wallet for all 18 years...” I explained.

“Is it still in there?" Aleisha asked.

"No I gave it back to him." I answered.

"Are you and Darcy moving in here?" Sameerah questioned.

“No, no... we love it here, but I have a life in America... I only have two more weeks off of work...” I sighed, staring down at my empty left hand.

“So you two can't get married?” El asked, sounding completely heartbroken.

“No! No, no... Don't be silly Eleanor.” I said before she could get any more sad.

"But you said you have a life in America..." She trailed off.

"That doesn't mean I can't marry him..." I muttered.

“Really?” An all too familiar voice said from behind me. I pushed my plate away and laid my head and arms on the table. Embarrassment surrounded me in a thick fog. A pair of hands began to massage my shoulders.

“You were not supposed to hear that.” I mumbled. Harry chuckled behind me.

“I figured I wasn't, but I'm glad I did.” He mused, I could hear the grin in his voice. He let go of my shoulders, and stood beside me; tapping my arm like he wanted me to lift my head. I looked up at him. He was smirking.

“That is the same look you had on your face the first time you talked to me.” I smiled. He chuckled, then leaned down and kissed the corner of my mouth.

“Great breakfast.” He complimented as he stood up straight again and walked over to put his empty plate in the sink.

“And I didn't even have to have someone talk me through it on the phone.” I teased. Harry laughed as he walked out the kitchen door, back into the living room to watch the kids.

“He's quite a romantic. He hasn't had anyone to share that with in a while.” Perrie giggled.

“I guess that's true....” I sighed happily.

“Have you two went out at all since you came here?” Sameerah asked.

“Yeah, he took me to the place we first met, last night. Other than that, we both got dressed up and had a date here, a few days after I arrived.” I said.

“Just two?” Aleisha questioned, sounding shocked.

“Yeah, with his, uh, injury, and everything... I wanted him to rest and heal before we did much.” I explained, blush rising in my cheeks.

“That makes sense.” El agreed. We smiled at each other. One by one each of the kids and the boys brought their empty plates in. So far everything was swell, better than I'd hoped. But after a little while the kids began getting antsy....
