After 18 Years

Darcy Tanner ran away from home on her 18th birthday, in search of her father. A little over 18 years before, her mother- Ariel- found out that she was pregnant with Harry Styles' child. She fled to America, scared to end the career that he enjoyed so much. Now, when Darcy forces Harry and Ariel to reunite will they fall back into love? Will revisiting their youth be painful or the thing that makes them happiest? Will everything be the same again, even after 18 years apart?

We played board games until lunch time. None of the kids ever came upstairs. I wasn't surprised by that. Harry, Liam, and Niall made lunch for everyone. It was sweet of them. They didn't allow anyone else to help. After lunch we just talked, telling old stories, and reliving memories.

At around 5 one by one couples got up and went downstairs to find their children. It took them a while, but eventually everybody was upstairs. Harry, Louis, Liam, Niall, and Zayn got luggage from rooms and put them in the correct car while Sameerah, Aleisha, Eleanor, Perrie, the kids, and I said goodbye, for now. I'd see them all again. Maybe we could all get together on holidays...  One huge happy family.

“I'll call you. We'll all take Darcy shopping sometime soon.” Eleanor whispered in my ear as we hugged.

“She'd love that.” I smiled up at her when she stood straight. I'd love that. Just like old times.  I hugged each of the kids, then each of the moms, and finally the four dads.

“We'll see you soon.” Louis smiled, his family was the last to leave. I sighed in relief as the front door closed for the last time tonight. Harry chuckled, sitting on the edge of the couch next to me.

“Tired?” He asked, placing his hand on my leg.

“Not at all.” I accented every word.

“That was fun Mum.” Darcy smiled in the middle of the living room.

“I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. It really was a lot more fun than I'd imagined.” I smiled.

“I think Robert has a crush on me.” She smirked.

“Really?” I grinned wider, propping my head on my hand and turning to face her.

“Yeah, he stutters a lot whenever I ask him a question, and he blushes.” She replied.

“That's sweet.” I laughed.

“It's really cute.” She agreed. “So dad, when's Eric going to arrive?” She asked, looking at Harry.

“Tomorrow morning.” He answered.

“Yay! You're going to love him.” She gushed.

“I believe you.” He grinned, but it didn't quite touch his eyes. It will be funny to see what he says to Eric. I can imagine he's going to try to intimidate him, but I can't imagine how. I guess, that maybe all the tattoos could give someone who didn't know him the wrong impression, but I knew that Harry was just a big softy.

We ordered Chinese for dinner, something all of us loved. We sat at the dining room table like a normal, happy family.

“Can I walk to the dining room?” I asked Harry as he came back from setting the food out on the table. He thought for a moment.

“It really isn't a hassle for me to carry you.” He murmured.

“I know, but I want to at least try to walk.” I said. It was only a bit of glass in my foot, he was blowing it way out of proportion.

“Fine, but if it hurts, at all, I'm carrying you everywhere for the next week.” He laughed, but in a way he was serious.

“Okay, message received.” I nodded. I touched my injured foot to the cold floor, grinning to myself because I felt little pain. I stood up, putting my weight on my feet for the first time since this morning. I stumbled, almost falling, but catching myself. My foot felt like there was still a glass dagger in the bottom of it. When I put weight on it, it shoved farther up into my leg. I steadied myself, not wanting Harry to think I was in pain.

“Are you okay?” He asked, grabbing my arms to keep me upright.

“Yeah, yeah. I guess that's just what happens when you don't walk for almost a day.” I forced a laugh. He looked completely unconvinced.

“Ariel if it hurts I seriously enjoy carrying you.” He insisted.

“I'm fine, really.” I lied. He didn't believe me. He held onto my elbow as I limped to the dining room, relief filling my body when I sat down.

"I'd very much appreciate if you let me carry you up the stairs tonight." He raised his eyebrows a bit at me. I decided to give up, he'd let me walk tomorrow if I cooperated today.

“Fine. You win Styles, I won't protest anymore.” I said.  He laughed.

“Good, I'm a sore loser.” He smirked. I rolled my eyes, sticking a piece of sushi in my mouth. Darcy, Harry and I talked around the table for a long time, even after we finished our food. I mostly enjoyed watching Harry and Darcy talk. They were so alike, it was amazing actually. Darcy soon got tired and went to bed, or so she said. She was probably up on her electronics.

“Are you as tired as I am?” Harry asked, soon after Darcy went to bed.

“I was about to ask the same question.” I yawned. He grinned, standing up, and picking me up in his arms before I could even try to stand on my own. This time he threw me over his shoulder, fireman style.

“Well this is much more comfortable.” I mumbled sarcastically as he started up the stairs. He laughed, loud and free sounding. Before I noticed what was going on, he dropped me onto a bed, in a dark room. He walked over to turn the light on. I sat cross legged on the huge bed, realizing, that this wasn't my room. I looked around confused.

“I have to make sure you're okay tonight.” He said slowly. It slowly came to me, that I was in his room. The room was green themed, deep greens to light turquoises everywhere. Lots of artwork hung on the wall, along with dozens of picture frames. A fresh memory hit me when I noticed the canvas on the wall that had my hand print on it. I remembered that date... His dresser was decorated with awards and old cds. He wanted me to sleep in here. He was using me stepping on a piece of glass as an excuse... It was kind of sad that he had to resort to that, and it was my fault.

“Um” I muttered, not quite sure what to say.

“That's okay... I shouldn't have even brought it up... But uh, let me show you something quick.” He muttered, and I was back in his arms in a flash. He speed walked to his bathroom, setting me down on the counter. I stared, awestruck at the floor. Under a clear flooring material was the paper from the same date that the canvas was from. We'd covered our feet in paint and ran around on the paper-covered floor.

"This is amazing Harry. I- I don't know what to say..." I shook my head.

"You don't have to say anything, I just thought you might like it." He shrugged, he then picked me up for the last time, and brought me to my room. Before I could tell him that he was wrong, that I'd love to stay with him, he was gone. My light was turned out and the door was shut...  I sighed. I'd have to talk to him in the morning. I didn't want to get up to change into my pajamas so I stripped down to my bra and underwear, sleeping in only that. It took me a long time to fall asleep, my mind was running a million miles per hour.
