After 18 Years

Darcy Tanner ran away from home on her 18th birthday, in search of her father. A little over 18 years before, her mother- Ariel- found out that she was pregnant with Harry Styles' child. She fled to America, scared to end the career that he enjoyed so much. Now, when Darcy forces Harry and Ariel to reunite will they fall back into love? Will revisiting their youth be painful or the thing that makes them happiest? Will everything be the same again, even after 18 years apart?

It felt like there was no way I was still in the same basement that I'd been in last night... The ceiling and walls were made of blankets, there was a hallway, with attached rooms. I got up silently to look around. In the first room, where Harry and I had fallen asleep, there were two couches and a TV. When I walked into the fort hallway, there looked to be 3 other rooms.

The second one had a mini fridge, a microwave, and a dresser that had food in it. The next room had the whole floor covered in sleeping bags. And the last room had an air hockey table, a pinball machine, and an old Mrs. Pac-man machine. Every separate room was lit up with what looked like old, colored, stage lights. Strange but genius...

Someone came up behind me, and wrapped their arms around my waist. Harry's curls tickled my cheek.

“This is amazing Harry...” I stated in awe.

“I had a little help from the internet.” He chuckled modestly.

“I'm sorry I fell asleep and didn't help.” I muttered. I still suppose he did more than fine without me.

“Don't worry about it. It was easier to do than it looks like.” He said.

“Than it must have been pretty hard.” My eyebrows raised as I continued taking in every detail. Harry laughed.

“I hope the kids like it.” He sighed.

“You'll be their new favorite uncle.” I laughed surely.

“I was always their favorite uncle.” He replied. I snickered.

“What time is it?” I asked.

“Almost 9” He answered.

“Do you think people will be up?” I questioned.

“Judging on the footsteps I hear, yes.” He said. He took my hand, and we went upstairs to see who was awake. Everyone was up, walking around in their pajamas, while Harry and I walked around in the same clothes we had on yesterday.

“Good morning!” Harry announced.

“Whoa, that's not the direction I expected you two to come from...” Niall laughed.

“We set something up for the kids down there last night, and fell asleep afterwards.” Harry smirked.

“Fair enough...” Louis smirked back.

“So what did you set up?” Sameerah asked.

“Come see.” Harry grinned, turning around and dragging me with him. Everybody followed us back down stairs. The looks of amazement on each face was equivalent to what mine had been.

“You two did this?” Eleanor questioned.

Before I could say 'mostly Harry' Harry answered, “Yep!” Then grinned at me. All the kids made themselves at home straight away, even the 13 year old, Robert, who I would have thought would think he was too old for a fort. Ariel Jr came up to each Harry and I and gave us a big hug, thanking us for making them this. They all looked to be filled with pure joy. Even Darcy explored it, then decided to stay down there. The adults all went upstairs.

“You know that there's no getting those kids out of there right?” Zayn laughed.

Harry shrugged, “As long as they have fun.”

I got up on my tip toes to peck him on the lips. Harry insisted that I stay in the living room while he, Louis, Eleanor and Liam made breakfast for us. The kids had discovered the food downstairs. I was about to walk in to the kitchen to check up on them when I heard my name. I waved Perrie over, listening at the door.

“What do you mean bore her?” Harry snorted.

“Come on Harry! She came back! You have to be as good as ever! You have the moves, deep down inside you somewhere!” Louis exclaimed. Huh?

“What are you talking about?” Harry asked.

“Flirting, you know, making her blush... You used to tell me how much you loved the sight of her cheeks turning red!” Louis persisted. Harry was the only guy in the world that ever had the power to make me blush. I'm glad he enjoyed it...

“I remember hearing that. You've got to remember some of it.” Liam added, on Lou's side.

“Its blurry... Anyway, I don't think she's bored with me.” Harry said slowly, unsure now.

“The most you guys do is a peck on the lips! When you two were younger you were always flirting and, touching...” Louis pointed out. Perrie and I were holding back laughter. I think I'd been a bigger flirt that Harry...

“I don't need to flirt with her anymore, we're already together.” Harry said.

“You're kidding right?” Louis questioned, I could almost hear his eyes roll. “Hey El, help me out.”

“I think Louis has a point. You two weren't boring like this with each other 18 years ago just because you were 'already together'” She muttered. Then she said a few things I couldn't understand. I shot Perrie a questioning look, she shrugged. She hadn't heard the last part either.

“You seriously think so?” Harry asked.

“What do you think, curly?” Louis replied sarcastically, sounding like he'd proved his point.

“Yeah, I guess you're right. I'll try something...” Harry agreed.

“I hope I'm there to see that.” Perrie whispered, then she went back to sit on the couch. I heard her begin to tell Niall, Zayn, Sameerah and Aleisha what we heard in a hushed tone. I waited a couple seconds, then walked into the kitchen like I originally planned to.

“How are you guys doing?” I asked, grinning.

“Swell.” Eleanor smiled. I noticed Lou look at Harry then nod toward me, and Harry mouth 'not now' back to him.

“Food's done.” Harry smiled at me, oblivious to the fact I saw his and Lou's exchange. I called in Zayn, Perrie, Sameerah, Niall, and Aleisha. Everyone but Harry and I dished up, and went back out to the living area. Harry walked shyly up to me.

“Can I try something quick?” He asked hesitantly.

“Sure.” I answered, already forgetting about the conversation I overheard. I stood close to the wall. He walked closer and closer, forcing my back against the wall, then put each of his hands on either side of my head. He had a playful smirk on his face, but his eyes were unsure. He wasn't as much of a ladies man as he used to be. I couldn't stop the wide grin that spread across my face.

“Why are you smiling like that?” He asked, laughing lightly.

“Just took me by surprise.” I half-lied. He chuckled, happy with my reaction. The next thing I knew his lips landed on mine. I forgot all my surroundings. I forgot where we were, I forgot what year it was, I forgot that there were other people in the house. We broke apart when the kitchen door opened and Louis popped in.

“Well well well...” He smirked. After a second his smirk disappeared and he frowned at us. He walked over to stand next to Harry. He placed his hand on Harry's back and pushed him closer to me, so that I was sandwiched between the wall and him.

“Gee thanks Lou.” Harry said sarcastically.

“You really should be grateful Styles.” Louis grinned as he left the room, probably to go tell everyone what he'd just witnessed. I chuckled into Harry's chest.

“I guess Louis wasn't clear enough in his instructions earlier.” I smirked. Then panicked as I realized that I'd just said that outloud.

“What are you talking about?” Harry asked.

“Uh... About in here, when Louis was lecturing you on making moves on me.” I mumbled.

“You heard that? Well, then this was predictable...” He said quietly, suddenly thinking hard, his brow furrowed.

“I had no idea what you were going to do. I promise.” I smiled.

“That makes me feel a little better.” He chuckled. He kissed me once more, then let me go so that I could get my breakfast.

“Hey Harry.” I said.

“Yes Love?” He asked, getting himself a plate.

“I like your new move just as good as your old ones.” I winked. Then walked out of the kitchen, leaving Harry speechless behind me...
