15. The Side Stories

Niall's P.O.V.

"This is nice," I said, stepping into Lydia's flat. The entry way was decorated with pictures of Lydia and another boy. Some of the pictures even had Harry when he was younger in them. The walls were a soft tint of blue, and light blue curtains hung from the windows. Nicki just walked through, and up the stairs.

"You get the couch!" She called down, "Night."

That was rather quick. I shrugged and found the remote to the telly. I was sure she wouldn't mind, as long as I kept it quiet. I turned it on, and kept the volume low. I switched through channels, trying to find something to distract me from what I saw tonight. She looked so . . . lifeless. It was a heart-wrenching sight. I couldn't even imagine what Harry and Nicki were going through. I turned off the telly. Nothing could distract me. I heard sniffling coming from up the stairs. I followed the noise up the stairs and to the 1st door on the left. I knocked on the door.

"Uh," She sniffed, "Can I help you?"

"Are you okay?" I asked sincerely.

"Yeah! I'm fine!" She sounded annoyed.

"Are you sure?" I asked again.

"I said I'm fine!" She snapped.

"Well, you don't have to be rude about it!" I shouted back at her.

"And you don't have to be a dick!" She opened the door. Her eyes were red and puffy, "Why don't you just go back and babysit someone else! Like Harry!" She started to cry, "Cause if someone was watching him, this wouldn't have happened. She wouldn't be dying!" She mumbled through her tears. I wrapped my arms around her, and much to my surprise, she didn't push me away.

"Come on," I said guiding her to the bed. I lied down with her while she cried into my chest.

   "I'm so scared," She whimpered.

"It'll be okay," I said smoothing out her hair, "Lydia can get through it. She's tough."

"No," She shook her head and sat up, "She's the shy, scared one. I'm the tough one." I pointed to the tear stained spot on my shirt and raised my eyebrows, "Ok, maybe I'm not the toughest." She giggled. It was actually quite cute. She lied back on my chest and we just spent the rest of the time talking. She told me about her life in America. And how she wished she could move out here. I told her about my family, and how my life with the boys were.

"So, you get stopped by a lot of fans?" She asked.

"Sometimes." I replied, "Aren't you one of them?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.

"I was, remember? And then I met you guys." She reminded me. I chuckled a bit at her comment.

   "Well, that's a shame, cause I'm a fan of you!" I said.

"Oh, what a shame!" She laughed. Then she stopped. We looked at each other thinking the same exact thing. The moment was so right. She leaned in, and I leaned in, and we joined together. After the kiss, she looked up at me, confused, yet relieved.

"I'm a huge fan." I winked at her. Just then my phone went off.

   She's awake. xH

Louis' P.O.V.

This was so horrible. I couldn't believe what happened to Lydia. She was so smart and funny. She didn't deserve to die right now. She has her whole life ahead of her. To make things worse, I hadn't heard from Eleanor for over 2 weeks. I played with the black box in my pocket. I had arranged for her to pick her up when I got back and take her to the English country side, but she had canceled right before we had heard about Lydia. That box was burning a hole in my pocket. A knock at my door interrupted my thoughts. Who could it be? No one had let me know they were coming so I could open the gate for them. As I walked over to the door, I knew the one person who knew the code. I opened the door, and sure enough, there she stood.

"Eleanor," I sighed. She didn't respond. I opened the door and let her in. She walked in and stood in the entry way. We stood there in silence before I asked, "Where have you been?" Again, no response, "Why haven't you been answering my calls? I've been worried sick!" Her eyes filled up with tears, just standing there, looking at me, "Please," I said more calmly, "Please tell me what's going on."

"Louis," She said quietly, "I know, after I tell you what I have to say, you aren't going to want to ever speak to me again. And that's ok..." She trailed off. She reached into her bag and pulled out a stick of some sort and gave it to me. I was confused at first, but then I looked down at the "stick". It was a pregnancy test. With two solid lines.

"Two lines, does that mean positive?" I asked. Tears spilled out of her eyes as she nodded. I ran over and wrapped her in my arms, "Love, why are you crying?"

"I can't ask you to be a dad," She said between tears, "You're at the top of your career. Louis, I'm so sorry."

"Sorry? This is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me!" I said. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes.

   "What?" She said confused.

"We're going to have a baby Louis or Eleanor running around here. It's going to be great! I'm going to be a dad." I smiled. I really couldn't be happier. I was so excited! Eleanor smiled and held onto me tighter.

"We're going to be parents," She whispered, looking up at me.

"Yeah, and we are going to be the best parents out there." I kissed her forehead. Suddenly, that hole in my pocket felt 10 times as big, "Listen, before I say what I need to say, I was supposed to do this before I knew about the baby." She looked confused, but then I got down on one knee. I held the ring up and began my speech, "Miss Eleanor Calder, I love you more than you can possibly imagine. I would do anything for you, day or night. I can't imagine another person greater than you. Will you marry me?" I asked. With tears in her eyes, she nodded her head up and down. I smiled, and put the ring on her. I picked her up and spun her around.

   "Married with Childern!" I chuckled.
