James cares for his country. But he worries about Isobel and that stirred something inside of him which could stir something bigger in the country.

(It is set in the olden days incase that isn't clear in my writing haha, not quite sure what year, but somewhere waaaaay far back like in the 1400s :D)

22. 22.

"Mother, sit please." I say. We gathered everyone else five minutes ago but she is still pacing nervously.

"What's this about?" she shoots a nervous look at James who is sitting at our kitchen table with the rest of us. I don't blame her for being nervous it must be a weird sight to see the king of England in our shabby kitchen.

"It's good news ma'am. I promise." James says.

She sits down, sighing and looking at us both. "Is our Isobel in some sort of trouble with you? Did she do something wrong?"

"Mother!" I protest. "How could you think such a thing?"

"No, no, not at all." James laughs. "It turns out that your daughter and I are in love and I proposed to her this very morning. It was triggered because we will be having a baby. Isobel is pregnant!"

There is a moment of silence and I hide behind my hands. I can't even stand this tension anymore, I don't know how they will react. All of a sudden, there is a cheer of delight from my mother. I dare to look and everybody looks happy. Ezra has this excited shocked look on his face as he comes over to hug me and twirl me around. Matilda is grinning her head off; she has always loved babies. Casper is celebrating with Matilda and my mother... she's in tears of happiness, clapping and smiling. The only person who doesn't look too over joyed is Elijah but he doesn't really like James too much after he upset me. He has always held the protective big brother role that Ezra liked to stray away from.

"I told you it would be okay." James whispers in my ear. He speaks up the next time he talks. "And that of course means, Isobel will be queen."

I hadn't thought about that part. Me? The queen of England? No way. It doesn't seem real at all.

"And that means she will be living in the palace with me and there is room for all of Isobel's family too." he smiles at them kindly as they are even more excited about this news.

I am just celebrating with all of them when I notice Elijah and Casper aren't here anymore. I frown and go outside, catching up with them as they are at the gate.

"Hey." I call, running over to them. I almost slip and Elijah catches me.

"Don't fall." he says bitterly despite his caring motion. "Don't want to hurt the royal baby."

I frown. "Is something wrong? Why are you leaving? I know your parents are back but you know they don't mind if you stay over."

"It's not that." he says irritated. "I just don't feel it was our place there. We have to go." he says absolutely and walks away with Casper.

I sigh, turning and walking back to the house when I feel a tug on my dress. I turn and Casper is there.

"Sorry about him." he says, smiling apologetically. "I'm really happy for you. Can I meet the baby when it's born?"

I ruffle his hair. "Of course you can, silly. If it kicks you will be the first one I call to feel it."

He grins. "I'd better go before Elijah notices I'm gone."

I smile. "That's a good idea. Tell him to meet me at the place at ten am tomorrow, even if he ignores you. Okay buddy?"

He nods and runs off, shouting an "I love you!". Maybe I will be a good mother.
