Playing The Bad Boy's Game

"So, who sits here?"I whispered, noticing the other empty seat beside me.
Blondie glanced to the clock. "Him," he said just as the time clicked 10. The door opened and I looked up.
My pencil dropped to the ground, eyes wide.
Oh. My. God.
It's him.
The first drug dealer that began my parents addiction.
The player that stole my best friends virginity.
The wicked monster that sent my cousin to rehab.
The hottest guy I've ever seen.
The reason why my life is hell.
And he's coming to be my English partner.

3. Chapter 3: You have got to be kidding me. ((3 and me rhyme! :D))

Chapter 3:  You have got to be kidding me.  ((3 and me rhyme! :D))

“GET OFF!” I yelled , wrenching away from his strong grip.  Pathetically, Klaire just watched in amusement, enjoying the whole show.  What kind of friend was she?

Coach Boysin finally blew the whistle, signalling for the girls and boys to line up by the starting line.  “Looks like you’re off the hook,” he winked as he slinked away.

“I wish,” I mumbled, rolling my eyes.

Klaire inched beside me with her eyebrow raised.  “What was that?!”

I smirked.  “Me getting harassed and you watching.”

“What does he want with you?” she asked ignoring my question.  We both line up in the third row, blending in with all the ponytails.

I opened my mouth to say something, and then stopped.  What does he want with me?  “Honestly, I don’t know.”

“I think I do,” she said playfully, shuffling her feet.

     “Pardon?”I asked, snapping my head.

     “I said, I think I know why.”

     “Tell me,” I demanded.

Klaire sighed.   “A few months ago, when Brian first got here, every girl fell for him.  Oddly, he didn’t find it entertaining since they all were the same.  He wanted a challenge, a good chase.  Then there was this one girl.  She was pretty, intelligent and athletic.  Brian fell in love with her, hard.  Just like the others guys, he wanted her terribly.”

“So it’s the basic love story isn’t it?” I asked, thinking I knew it all.

She shook her head.  “Yeah right.  The girl he had a crush on, she didn’t like him.  He didn’t know why, he did EVERYTHING.  Bought her a car, sent her a wagon full of roses, shot out fireworks that spelt out her name,” she ticked off her fingers.

“He was desperate,” I said surprised.  Brian certainly put his riches for good use.

“He even fought guys that got close.  After this, the girl was officially Brian’s.  Well, that’s what he thought anyways.  She still wasn’t interested.”

We both took a step forward, being the next ones to run.  “And then?” I asked waiting for her to continue.  It was starting to get good.

“Weeks later, she finally broke the news to him.  She was already taken.”

I giggled.  “You serious?  By who?”  The runners ahead were almost done.

     “By a girl.”

I burst out laughing, clutching my stomach.  He fell for a lesbian?  ((BTW I don’t mean to put any offense to anyone out there))  And he didn’t even know?  Brian’s cockiness was too overwhelming for him, I thought.  I really wanted to meet her.  Just to ask how he handled the news.  The moment must have been priceless.

“So where is she now?  The girl Brian fell for?” I questioned.  Suddenly, Klaire got all quite.  “What is it?”

     “She was me.”

    What the fu—

Tweet!  “GO!”

All the girls blasted ahead, leaving me in the dust.  Everything spun.  My feet wouldn’t move.  Klaire’s a lesbian?  Brian used to like HER?  I’ve have a friend for ten minutes and I’m already starting to lose one.  Literally.  She was running.  Away from me.  The starting line.  Shit.  I’m supposed to be running aren’t I?  I shook my head, shaking out the trance.

Just as I was about to start running they already crossed the starting line.  Klaire came first.

“DELOR!” yelled Coach Boysin.  I grumbled and huffed my way over to her.  At the corner of my eye I saw Brian smirk.

“Did you not hear the whistle?” she glared like I was a stupid ten year old.

    “I heard it, mam.”

“Did you really?  ‘Cause if you did, wouldn’t you have been running just a few seconds ago?”

I really wanted to strangle her.  Badly.

“I’m sorry.  I promise it won’t happen ag---”

“Don’t even give me that sorry crap of yours.  Give me twenty laps.”  I saw Klaire mouth ‘sorry’ as I looked behind her.  Brian and Blondie laughed, finding ithumorous as I started walking to the start line.  That gave me a big confidence boost.  No way was I going to let them enjoy this moment.

     “No,” I said.

“Excuse me?” asked Coach Boysin, eyes surprised.  I turned around, arms crossed.

“How about this.  If I beat all of the boy groups, then I don’t have to do any laps,” I challenged.

“And if you lose?” asked Coach Boysin, interested in my deal.  Guess she hasn’t had a challenge in a while.

“I’ll do the laps around the track.”

“AND you would have to pick all the gum off of the bleachers,” said the guy coach.  I suppose he was enjoying this deal too.

“Deal.”  I didn’t bother to shake on it, standing my ground.  Thank god there were only two boy groups.

Klaire hustled over, a worried look crossed her face.  “You know half of these boys are pro athletes, right?” she hissed.

I ignored her and lined up with the guys.  Blondie broke apart from Brian and lined up beside me.  I really needed to know this guy’s name.

“Kick her ass, Chris!” yelled Brian.  That was fast.

“You ready?” asked the guy’s coach.

The racers and I nodded, getting into position.  You see, there’s something these people don’t know about me.

     “On your mark.”

     I have an advantage.

     “Get set.”

They don’t know how fast I can run.

     “GO!”

I bolted, sprinting ahead.  Leaving them all in the dust, literally.  I had at least a ten meter distance between the boys and me as we reached half way.  I toned my speed a little bit as I was at least a quarter away from the finish line.  I had this in the bag.

“Yeah!” cheered Klaire as I jogged past the finish line.  I heard several heavy footsteps and gasping breathes a few seconds later.  I turned to my opponents that I just raced with a sympathetic smile.

“Good job,” I said to all of them, being a good sport.

“I let you win, you know?” Chris said playfully.  I rolled my eyes and turned to Klaire.  “That was fun,” I said grinning as I finally caught my breath.

“Fun?!  That was amazing!  You completely humiliated them!”

     I chuckled.  “I did, didn’t I?”

“And I’m sorry about messing you up before the race.  I didn’t mean to or anything...” she apologized.

     “It’s cool, don’t worry.”

I stole a glance at Coach Boysin who hid a small smile.  The guy’s coach on the other hand was shouting at half of the boy’s to do push ups at the side.

“Last runners, take your spots!” ordered Coach Boysin as she got her serious face back on.

“It’s not over yet,” I told Klaire as I walked away to the starting line.

“Good luck!” she exclaimed.  I found Brian coming next to me, his gorgeous 5’7 structure only inches away from me.  He might be shorter than some of the boys but honestly, by a long shot he was the hottest and strongest.  Boy, was I going to need that luck.

“On your marks!” the guys coach barked as he came back to the starting line.

“Just wondering, do you kiss as fast as you run?” murmured Brian.

“What kind of question is that?” I hissed, trying to concentrate.

     “GET SET!”

Brian shrugged.  “I was just thinking how much fun it would be to have a chic with that kind of ability.  Most girls can’t keep up with me.”

     I smirked.  “Running or kissing?”

“Both,” he said, slapping my ass.  I jumped, shocked at his quick flirtation.
