"Allie, is something wrong?" Charlotte asked Allie. The girls were at cheerleading practice. They had a performance to do in front of the entire school at the assembly before the big game. "Yeah, you've been distracted lately. You were only gone for two hours." Olivia said.

Allie had just driven back to the school for cheer practice, but she never thought with Ethan on her mind, she'd be this distracted. "Maybe I need to take a jog around the school." she said. The cheerleaders were on the football field, testing the grounds for the big game.

Their coach had suggested for them to practice there. Allie left the football field and began to jog around the school. Her mind needed to be clear for the game Friday night and she couldn't have any distractions.

While she took her jog, she could not stop thinking about Ethan. There was something about him that she found an attraction to and it wasn't just looks. He was just so- Her thoughts were interrupted when she accidentally bumped into someone. "Watch where--Ethan?" she asked, looking up at the tall guy before her.

"Oh hey, I was in your way, wasn't I? Sorry." he said, stepping to the side a bit. "No, it's fine." she said. Of course you were in my way. She thought angrily, but showed no emotion on her face. "Are you sure?" he asked. She looked at him wondering if he had read her mind or something.

"Yeah, it's okay." she smiled. "Why are you here at the school?"

"I was just talking with the football coach. He personally asked me to be on the team and I told him that I would think about it. Do you think I should join the team?" he asked. She looked at Ethan, admiring his build. He was perfect for any sport really.

"Why should my opinion matter? I bet all the other cheerleaders want you on the football team." she said, looking away. She felt his hand reach out to touch her cheek, forcing her to look up at him. "Those girls on the cheer team aren't as beautiful as you are; and that's why your opinion matters." he said.

She blushed a little bit while he caressed her cheek. Her heart was beating against her chest. It was beating so loud that she thought he heard. She saw him smile, then pull his hand away. "It still doesn't matter what I think, but whatever makes you happy." she told him.

"I'll let you get back to your jog, unless you'd like to ditch practice and hang with me instead." he suggested. She was tempted to go with him, but what would her friends say? He took her silence as a response instead. "Maybe next time. Goodbye Allie."

He reached to take her hand, then kissed her knuckles. He smiled, gently dropping her hand before walking away. Allie was left to stand there, watching as he walked away. Why did he have such a strong hold on her? What about him was intoxicating?

Was it his eyes? His smile? Was it the way he treated her? That had to be it. No guy had ever treated Allie like that before and Ethan was the one guy she wanted more than any guy in the entire senior class. Why was it that all of a sudden she felt this way?

Allie finished her jog back to the football field and joined the rest of the girls in the routine. After practice ended, Allie and her friends walked back to the locker rooms. "What took you so long?" Olivia asked as the girls were changing into their normal clothing.

"I just stopped to take a breath or two." Allie said, putting her practice clothes into her backpack. "Or you stopped to talk to a guy." Charlotte smirked. Allie closed her locker and walked out of the locker room as her friends followed behind her. "No way." she said.

"You are so in denial. Who was it? Garrett, Jake, or was it Ethan?" Olivia asked. Garrett, the captain of the football team, had wanted Allie since she joined the cheerleading team Freshman year. He knew that she was way out of his league, but he knew that it wouldn't hurt to try.

Jake, Allie's ex-boyfriend, was still in love with Allie since they broke up Junior year. The two of them had been dating since the seventh grade. While she was ready to move on, he wasn't.

"It was-"

"Hey Allie." Garrett walked up to the girls. "Hi Garrett. I don't have time to talk to you." Allie said, continuing to walk in the direction of her car. "Why not? You had time to talk to the new kid." he said, following her.

They stopped at her car when Allie saw her friends exchange looks at the mention of 'the new kid.' She was tired of Garrett pestering her after cheerleading practice. "The new kid isn't best friends with my ex." she said.

"So what if I'm friends with Jake. It doesn't matter. I-"

"Bye Garrett." Allie got into her car and buckled herself in as her friends joined her in the car. "Garret is such a pain in my ass." she told her friends while driving down the street. "When will he stop trying?" Olivia asked.

"One: if I agree to be his girlfriend, which will never happen. Two: if he finds a new girl to bother." Allie answered.

"What if you make Ethan your boyfriend?" Charlotte asked. Allie stopped the car once they arrived at Olivia's house. "Make Ethan my boyfriend? Ethan just asked me whether or not he should be on the football team. If he makes the team, Garrett will beat him to a pulp if Ethan becomes my boyfriend." Allie replied.

"It seems like the other way around. Ethan looks like he could hurt Garrett with one punch." Charlotte said.

Allie rolled her eyes and sighed. "I don't want to think about having a boyfriend. I need to focus on getting the routine down for next Friday." she said.

"I only suggested that he should be your boyfriend. It's optional if you want him to be. If you don't want to be with Garrett, be with Ethan." Allie knew Charlotte was right. Both girls said good bye to Olivia when she got out of the car.

Allie began driving to Charlotte's house. "Let me think about it, okay?" she asked Charlotte.

"Alright. I'll see you at school tomorrow." Charlotte said as Allie parked in front of her house. Charlotte got out of the car and walked inside her house. Allie finally arrived at her house, parking her car in the driveway.

She thought about what Charlotte mentioned about Ethan. It was possible to make Ethan her boyfriend, but was more afraid of him joining the football team and getting beaten by half the guys, including Garrett.

. . .

Next Friday, Allie and her friends were in the locker rooms getting ready for the big game at 7pm. The other cheerleaders were talking about homecoming. "Why didn't you ask Ethan to go with you to homecoming?" Olivia asked, putting on her skirt.

Allie shrugged as she began to tie shoes. "I didn't feel the need to ask him. I'm sure he's already been asked by the other girls. He's bound to say yes to one of them." she said.

"Are you sure about that?" Charlotte asked.

Allie walked over to the mirror and began to fix her hair, tying the bow around her ponytail. "Lotte, we all know how Garrett feels about Ethan." she said.

"Since when are you worried about Garrett?" Olivia asked. Allie looked at her friends, slightly shaking her head, and walked out of the locker room. She followed the other cheerleaders to the edge of the football field where some of the girls were already outside stretching.

She sat down on the grass and began to stretch. "I spy with my little eye.... Ethan." Charlotte said. Allie looked in the direction where Lotte was looking and saw Ethan lean against the railing. She stood up, walking over to where he was standing. "You look beautiful." Ethan smiled.

"So you decided not to join the football team?" she asked him with a smile.

He shrugged, "It's not my forte."

She raised an eyebrow, looking at him as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Your forte?" He nodded and just smiled. "Are you going to the dance?" she asked.

"Yeah, if you're going." he smirked.

"I won't be that hard to miss." she smiled, then walked back to her friends.

The football game began and the cheerleaders began to pump up the crowd to root for the home team. When half-time began, the cheerleaders did their routine and next was the dance team. The game ended and the other team had lost.

"Hey gorgeous." Garrett wrapped an arm around Allie's shoulders. Allie pushed his arm away, stepping back. She and her friends were gathered outside the locker rooms. "Garrett, stop." she said.

"What's wrong? Don't you want me?" he asked.

"I have never wanted you. Just because we won the home game, doesn't mean I want to be with you. I'm interested in someone else." she said. She walked into the women's locker rooms and changed out of her uniform.

When she walked out, Jake had walked up to her. "Hey." he greeted her. He had already changed out of his football uniform and into clothes that were more comfortable. "Hey Jake." she said.

"Are you going to the dance with anyone?" he asked.

"No. I have to go." she told him before walking to her car. As soon as she reached her car, she saw Ethan leaning against it. "Great job tonight." he said.

She shrugged, "It's not a big deal really."

"I see why Garrett's so smitten. You, of all the other girls, are the most beautiful." he said, making her blush. She was thankful for it being dark outside. "You are just saying that." she said.

"Would you believe me if I did this?" he asked, leaning in and kissed her lips. Allie hadn't expected to be kissed by Ethan. She didn't push him away, but melted into the kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck and felt his arms wrap around her waist, pulling her close to him.

She pulled away from him, looking into his eyes. She could not stop blushing. She gently bit her lip and then smiled. "Have a good night Allie." he smiled, once again reaching down and kissed her knuckles. He walked away, leaving her to stand there dazed.

She got in her car, then brought her hand to her lips. She smiled to herself, still feeling the passion of the kiss on her lips. She slightly shook her head a little, started the car, and drove down the street.
