39. Thunder 38

I feel more giddy with each minute I get closer to where my love is. Why did I act so terrible to her again? I wince as I think about my recent behavior towards my girlfriend. In only a few minutes I’m going to make up to her and start treating her like any boyfriend should treat his beloved. A grin spreads wide across my face. I’m already looking forward to this summer, knowing we’ll have much more time to spend with our children and each other. No school, no jobs, no one to bug and no dangers. Victoria will need to be ash before we leave for my surprise destination.

I turn into the driveway at Charlie’s and my smile brightens when I see her black fiat standing there. Bella’s home to, seeing the red Chevy can’t be missed.
I park the Volvo, cut the engine and get out as fast as humanly possible before jogging to the front porch.
I knock at the door waiting for Melody to open, but instead the door opens and Bella is standing behind it. Her expression falls when she sees me.

‘Oh, Hi Edward.’
I frown. Okay so I’ve hurt her as she’s hurt me, but is she still feeling bad about that? Even now she has Jacob Black to fawn over?
‘Hi Bella. Can I come in?’ I ask politely remembering that Melody and Bella have talked and try to act like sisters. It would be stupid for me to ruin that.
Bella nods, opening the door wider and turning around, ’Sure.’
I close the door behind me once I’m inside and follow Bella out of the hallway. It actually confuses me that Melody is downstairs yet. Normally she is.
Bella goes back into the kitchen where she appears to be preparing dinner. So Charlie must arrive home soon.

‘Do you want to talk to me or something?’ Bella asks, frowning and with an accusing tone in her voice. I frown back at her. Talking with her?
‘No…not specifically,’ is my vague answer. Off course I could chat with her, but I am here on a mission.
‘Then why are you here?’ is her next sentence as she’s stirring vegetables in a pan.
‘Isn’t that obvious? I’m here for your sister, who seems oblivious to me being here. Normally she’s already here.’

Bella’s eyes flicker with something before she averts them. She huffs a laugh, ’Well, I don’t know about any of this so don’t shoot me, or bite me for that matter,’ I roll my eyes at that , ‘But she’s not here.’
My eyes snap to her, seeing that she’s serious, ’What do you mean not here? Alice said so, as did your siblings. Where else would she be?’
I am starting to panic slightly. And Alice should fear her newest pair of shoes by lying to me. she was never mistaken in a vision and she was clearly hiding those from me back at the house.
Bella shrugs, ’I thought she went to the hospital and that Alice picked her up to bring her to your house. That’s what she told me.’

Okay so that makes sense – it was true until Alice said she dropped her off at the Swan Residence.
‘That’s true, but Alice said she was at the Residence. When I went there, Alice informed me Melody should be home. So where the hell is she now? did she just leave or something?’
I start ranting and trying to think where she might be. It’s dangerous to be out and about. Alone. Especially when there’s a certain redheaded bitch with sharp teeth after you. Damn stubborn girl she is!
I hear something vibrate and then see Bella pull out her cell phone. She frowns while reading it, until her face gets the expression of shock.

‘Oh God! Shit! I need to get to La Push!’
‘Whoa whoa! Wait a minute! What’s going on?’
Bella stops mid step and looks at me.
‘She’s at La Push Edward. I assume Jake and Melody talked about Alice’s vision or maybe just hung out at the beach. I just got a text that Seth, one of the pack, is severely hurt so I need to go there,’ she informs me, eyes serious and stern, before turning off the stove and starting to walk to the hallway again. I follow her, angry now. I forbade Melody to go to La Push for her own fucking safety and now she’s there, helping out a wolf for fuck’s sake! My attempts on getting everything worked out today with her have crumpled to the ground. She chose to use my trust in her and letting me think she’d never go there. And yet she is.

and then the fact that Bella knows about that vision. Only Alice and I do and Alice surely hasn’t told anyone. Not even Jasper until we spoke about it with the whole coven.

‘Bella how do you know about that vision!?’ I hiss angrily. She is immediately defensive.
‘What the fuck Edward? Melody told me, obviously!’ she says, disbelief colouring her tone. Melody told her? Told her how? She doesn’t even know that either! Unless Alice secretly did tell her? She was not supposed to know about it! I can’t protect her stubborn ass if she knows!
I’m pacing in the hallway with my hands in my hair. Damn it! Damn Alice! Damn Victoria! Damn everything that’s ruining my plans for today!

‘Oh my god...’
My head snaps up to face Bella who’s standing at the door with her coat on. Her facial expression is one of shock, disbelief once again and craze. She huffs a short laugh and shakes her head slowly from side to side, ’Unbelievable.’
‘What.’ I snap harshly, my hands balled into fists.

‘Do you seriously don’t know anything about her?’ her tone is accusing once again.
‘what are you supposed to say with that?’ I’m getting more frustrated with the second. Off course I know Melody! I know everything –
My mind shut up, my body stops shaking with fury and I can only wait for Bella’s next words.

‘She reads minds Edward. She saw the vision the minute Alice saw it.’
And that just hits me like a wrecking ball. It’s not true, it’s not true! My mind yells at me. Melody won’t lie to you about that!

‘I can’t believe she never told you…’
