2. The beginning of the the end

By the time we arrived at the house it was already dinner time, so my mom and I washed up and went to one of the local restaurants.  Huntington beach was nothing compared to Miami, it was so quite and down to earth, everyone knew each other and they all got along.  It made me feel a little uneasy inside to know that it would now be this much harder to become friends with people who were so close they considered themselves family.  I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't hear the waitress come over to ask for our orders.

"What can I get you?"

The waitress asked with an attitude.

"Uhh, I'll have a coke and hamburger with fries."

I answered all flustered, you can tell that waitress wasn't much older than I was if anything we were the same age. My mom and I sat there in silence until our dishes came out.

"Isn't it so beautiful here?"

My mom asked, with a mouth full of her chicken Caesar wrap.

I said taking a sip of my soda, praying that this day will end already.

"I feel like we will be right at home here, everyone seems so genuine, it'll be great.!"

"It'll be super."

I said sarcastically, as I rolled my eyes. My mom hates it when I roll my eyes so I was just glad she didn't notice because I didn't need her yelling at me in front of  the whole restaurant before I was able to show my face at school let alone a crowded area. Diner went by quietly and slowly when my mom finally realized I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.  The sun had already set by the time we were finished eating, and the night life on the pier was beginning to pick up.  There was a street performer doing tricks in the middle of the pier while the little kids stood around in awe.  There were couples holding hands walking up and down the pier talking and a group of teenagers sitting in front of the ice cream parlor laughing and eating there ice creams.

"Let's go get some ice cream."

My mom said all enthusiastically. I wanted ice cream, but I felt uncomfortable walking past all the kids, but I agreed and followed behind her into the ice cream parlor.  We were walking out of the parlor when someone rammed into me.

"Oh my god!!"

I shouted as my ice cream spilled all over me.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there, oh my god I'm really sorry."

He cried out, as he face started to turn red.  As soon as I looked up and saw him I started to feel bad for freaking out.  He was this really cute boy, with shaggy dirty blonde hair and the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen.  You could tell by the way he reacted to the situation that he was a little awkward for a boy, especially one as good looking as him self.  But I was drawn in and started to hate myself for freaking out on him.

"It's okay, really its no big deal I said."

With a grin on my face trying to make myself look approachable.  Once I said that you saw him relax a little and it made me feel so much better.

"Are you sure? I feel really bad, want me to buy you another ice cream?'

He asked all innocently, I was barely able to hold myself together.  I didn't know what was getting into me, this has never happened to me before. I mean I had crushes and dated some kids in my school, but never have any of them had this effect over me.

"It's okay, I wasn't really in the mood for ice cream anyways."

I lied, the truth is I wanted him to buy me ice cream so we could just sit and eat it together and talk, but I wasn't that kind of person and didn't have the confidence to do that.  I walked away before he could say anything else, because I wasn't sure how much longer I could hold myself together.  When we finally got back to our house I went upstairs to were my new bedroom was located.  My mom looked hard and long to find a house with a window seat and a view of the water to match the one in my old house, I was really grateful she did, because I knew I wasn't going to be getting any sleep tonight. My new room was a lot bigger than my old room was, even with all the boxes in it and a queen bed it wasn't full.  I got changed into my pj's and sat on the window seat and looked out the window.  The view was very different here then it was in Miami, when I looked outside in Miami there were only a few stars and it was really bright out, here its dark and the sky is full of stars its actually really pretty.  I guess I must have fallen asleep on the bench because I woke up to a terrible neck and back ache.  I didn't want to sit in this house or unpack my boxes, because I don't think I'm ready to accept the truth that my life is going to be changing.  So I throw my hair up in a messy bun, throw on my pink sequin Victoria's Secret bathing with jean shorts and a crop top over it and run downstairs.

"Where are you going?"

My mom yells as I go to open the garage door.

"I'm going to the beach!"

I yell back, once in the garage I grab my surf board and head for the beach.  The house my mom bought is right on the beach so its only a short 5 minute walk, which is a lot better than Miami, when I wanted to go surfing there I would have to take a bus or walk, and it wasn't close. I find a good spot on the beach where the waves are big and I put my board down to take off my clothes.  As I start to approach the water I see this person that looks familiar, than I realize its the boy from the ice cream parlor.  I freeze unable to move as I see his head turn to look right at me, and than he waves and starts to walk over.
