5. Losing Either Way...

Katie's P.O.V

"Katie! Get your lazy bum out of bed!" Niall shouted, ripping my duvet off of me.

I grumbled in response, wanting to finish my suddenly interrupted dream.

"Katie, if you don't get up you'll be late for school! You have exams all week, now GET UP!" He joked. I could hear him trying to contain his laughter. I still just laid there.

"Fine, and to think I was going to take you to get ice cream after school."

"I'm up!" I said, causing him to laugh. He then left me to get ready for the day.

I threw on some grey skinny jeans and a black shirt which consisted of the British flag and read 'The Beatles'. I then put on a pair of red converse.

After applying a bit of make-up, I rushed downstairs to say goodbye to my brother.

"See you later, Ni. I love you!" I said, giving him a hug and snatching an apple from the fruit bowl on the table.

"I love you too, and good luck!" He said, handing me my almost forgotten hoodie before sending me off.

It was slightly colder than yesterday morning, but I didn't mind. I giggled at the thought of Niall and I getting ice cream in this weather. I already couldn't wait for school to let out today.

"Hey, Katie!" Yelled a low voice. I could tell by the smirk in his tone that it was one of the boys. I continued to walk, pretending as if not to have heard anything. I was then quickly spun around, looking into angered green eyes. "Why didn't you stop when I called you?!" He roared.

"I-I didn't hear you." I said in a weak voice.

"Bullshit! I saw your body tense up as I called you. You easily cower at the mere sound of my voice." He stated, grinning like a mad man. The bell then rang, saving me as Harry released me from his hold.

"See you after school." He waved, walking off to his class.

My happiness seemed to fade as he spoke. Every day ended the same. They always seemed to find some new way to torture me. If I somehow did manage to skip out after school, it was worse for me the next day. Either way I lost.

I dragged myself into class the second before the tardy bell. I took my seat in the corner and began my exam once handed out. Having a passion for writing, I knew I would ace my English exam. I also knew Harry couldn't get away with copying my story, so this time he actually had to do it on his own.

Take that, Styles!

I easily finished before turning in my essay, the rest of the class slowly finishing after. With everyone finished and time to spare, our teacher granted us permission to talk amongst ourselves, only requesting we keep it to a reasonable level. I groaned as Harry turned towards me and began to speak.

"Yesterday was fun." He smirked, referring to what had taken place at Liam's house.

"Maybe for you." I spat.

"Whoa, I think someones got a bit of an attitude. We can work on that after school." He grinned.

I sighed, wishing I had just kept my mouth shut.

The bell rang soon enough, allowing me to make my way to algebra. I smiled to myself, knowing I didn't share this class with Harry. That smile then met the floor as I was tripped by those familiar white converse. I watched as he laughed, carrying on to his next class. Cursing under my breath I pulled myself off the floor, trying to brush it off.

By the time the final bell rang I couldn't see anything but square roots and fractions, and I swear, if I see the pi symbol one more time I'm going to freaking lose it! My images soon changed as I saw Louis waiting by my locker, already seeing myself beaten by four frightening figures. I sighed knowing he had seen me and knowing I had no chance to escape. I then slowly approached my locker, much to Louis' satisfaction.

"I see you decided not to skip out today." He smirked. "I guess yesterday did some good after all." He then nodded his head towards the back entrance of the school, signalling me to start walking.

I could feel his eyes burning holes into my back as he closely followed behind me, making sure I wouldn't try to bolt. He then escorted me to the football field.

"Have any trouble?" Harry questioned Louis while smirking at me.

"Surprisingly no." He grinned. Zayn then stepped in front of me.

"So," he began. "this is how it's going to work. You see that goal post down there?" He asked, pointing to the large metal post at the other end of the field. I nodded before he continued. "You're going to run down there and touch it. If you beat us down there, we'll let you go for today." He grinned, amusingly patting me on the shoulder.

I looked at him as if he were crazy. I knew they were star runners in track. How could I beat them all the way down there?

"Don't worry, love." He grinned. "We'll give you a head start."

I looked at him, uninterested and quite frightened at the same time.

"Go." He said, giving me a push.

I began running, not looking back at their undoubtedly amused faces. Mid field I realized there was a fence past the goal post. If I could make it there, I could easily clear it. Now almost to the post I glanced back, realizing they weren't chasing me. I slowed to a jog and stopped at the post. I then spun around to face the opposite end of the field.

The three males were now caught in a fit of laughter. Unsure of what was going on, I decided to skip it and make my way over the fence. I nearly screamed as I spun back around, coming into contact with another body.

"What's the rush?" Liam smirked.

I then realized their entire plan. Scaring me as to sprinting across the field, draining most of my energy. Liam, who was hidden behind the goal post, would then stop me, while the rest of the guys eventually made their way down the field. I looked over my shoulder to conclude my assumptions, the boys already over half way.

"I-I." I didn't know what to say, causing Liam to smirk. He then took hold of my wrists, slamming me against the goal post.

"You know," he said, his face now by my ear. "yesterday was fun, we should do it again soon."

I slammed my eyes closed, wanting to escape from his touch. He chuckled slightly at my actions before speaking to the boys.

"She's all yours." He said before exiting the field.

"You're not staying?" Louis questioned.

"Nah, I'm bored with her today. Besides, we've got all break with her." He smiled evilly before walking off.

What did he mean by that? Surely Niall wouldn't have them around the entire break. He always sets aside time for just us.

"What?" I questioned out loud before being shoved to the ground.

"No one told you to speak!" Yelled the harsh voice of Zayn.

I then took yet another crucial beating from them before they too 'grew bored' of me, leaving me on the field once they were done. I knew Niall would be curious as to where I was, knowing full well I wouldn't skip out on his offer of getting ice cream together. The thought of rushing home to Niall gave me strength to remove myself from the field. Stumbling here and there, I managed to walk through the door in one piece.

"Where have you been?" Niall interrogated. He then noticed my limping and immediately began to worry. "What happened? Are you ok? Who's bum am I kicking?!" His last comment caused me to grin, the thought of him beating up his best mates being comical in my opinion.

"We played soccer in p.e. today. I had a little accident is all." I lied, forcing myself to go up the stairs.

"Oh. Well, are you still up for getting ice cream?" Niall asked, his tone now changing to excitement.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world." I smiled.
