36. Being His.

Katie's P.O.V

"Niall, Harry's here!" I yelled before opening the front door.

"Bye, I love you!" He shouted from upstairs.

"Love you too!"

I walked out to Harry's car before getting into the passenger's seat.

"What?" I asked as Harry stared at me with a pleased look.

"You wore the shirt." He smirked.

"Didn't you say something along the lines of 'wear it on Monday'?" I pointed out.

He just grinned before driving off towards the school. Once there, we met up with Louis and Zayn as usual. My thoughts were elsewhere as the boys began chatting amongst themselves. People began to look at me before whispering something to whoever they were with. Some would even point before looking to their friend in shock. I didn't know what was wrong with me. Did my hair look bad? Was my makeup smeared? I even looked down to make sure I had all my clothing. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

I stood closer to Harry, uncomfortable with all the distant attention I was getting. The boys noticed my uncomfortable expression as they began to interrogate me.

"What's wrong?" Harry asked, looking down at me.

"Everything alright?" Louis questioned, giving me an odd look.

"Why is everyone staring at me?" I blurt out, unable to control my curiosity in front of the guys.

Harry narrowed his eyebrows at me before looking around. Each pair of eyes that met his quickly looked away, continuing on with whatever they were doing.

"Why don't we head over to class?" He said, draping his arm around me and leading me into the building. Louis and Zayn stayed put, continuing on with a conversation.

"Katie! So nice to have you back!" My teacher said, smiling at me as I walked through the door.

"It's good to be back." I replied, not really knowing what else to say. I took my seat in the back corner as Harry took the one next to me.

"Is there something wrong with me today?" I asked, getting back on the subject of why people were actually noticing me.

"I don't believe so." Harry replied. "Except for the fact that you look pretty good in my shirt." He smirked.

I rolled my eyes at his comment.

"I'm serious, Harry."

"Maybe you're just paranoid."

"Why would I be paranoid?!"

"I don't know! I was just making a suggestion." He defended.

"I know." I sighed out. "I'm sorry, maybe you're right." I then faced the front of the room as the first bell sounded.

A group of girls walked in together, whispering with each other and giggling. One of them even pointed at me. I looked over at Harry who had apparently noticed. He then looked at me and shrugged his shoulders.

All during class the girls continued to whisper, occasionally glancing back at me before snickering. I kept my head down and tried to ignore them while doodling on a piece of paper. The bell finally rang and I began to pack up my stuff.

"Nice shirt." One of them said before walking over to her friends. They looked from me to Harry before exiting the classroom in gossiping whispers.

"Of course." I mumbled. "People only notice me because I'm wearing your shirt." I stated.

"What's wrong with that?" He shrugged, walking with me through the hall.

"Don't you get it? You're the good looking guy everyone wants and I'm the girl nobody notices. Everyone's going to look at me as a joke knowing I'm with you. I'm just the nobody."

"Katie, that's not true." Harry said, draping his arm over me before I pulled away.

"Yes it is." I quickly sped down the hall and rushed into the girls bathroom.

I should have known better than to think I could have a fairy tale ending. Now that I'm back at school I'm going to be judged. I somewhat wish I hadn't complained about being invisible every now and then because I'm really not loving the spotlight.

I quickly made my way to my class, still making it in time before the bell rang. I then sat down and mouthed a 'sorry' over to Harry. He responded by handing me a folded piece of paper. I quickly unfolded it and began to read, feeling a smile re-appear on my face.

Don't let'em bring ya down, babe.

I'll protect you.

P.S. Still lookin' good in my shirt ;)

After reading the note and having a perfect lunch with Harry, I faced the rest of my classes with confidence and my favorite knight in shining armor. Everything went fine until the final bell rang.

"Ready to go?" Harry asked, walking me out of the classroom.

"I need to go get something from my art class, wait for me at the car?"

"Alright, but don't be long." He grinned, giving me a quick kiss before walking towards an exit.

I quickly approached my locker and began putting away my textbooks.

"Hey there." A voice sounded.

I turned around to see the three girls from class that had been making fun of me.

"Um, hi." I said, shutting my locker and throwing my bag over my shoulder. I began to make my way towards the art room before they cut me off.

"So are you and Harry, like, a thing now?" One of them asked.

"Does it matter?" I asked, trying to get around them.

"Actually, it kind of does." The one who seemed to be the leader of the three said.

"Then yes. Can I go now?" I asked, still trying to get around the annoying clique.

"No." She spoke, still getting in my way. "Look. I've had my eye on Harry for a while now. I want to go to the dance with him on Friday and I'm not about to let some nobody like you ruin that for me!"

"Well sorry to burst your bubble, but he already asked me. He even helped me pick out my dress this weekend." I stated. As confident as I was trying to sound, I was shaking like a leaf on the inside.

"Look, you'd better back off from Harry or I swear I'll-"

"You'll what?" A voice asked.

I spun around to see Harry glaring at the girls. He protectively draped his arm over me before walking me down the hall.

"And just so you know, I'm taken." He said back to the girls. They scurried down the halls while throwing little tantrums.

"Thanks." I breathed out.

"I told you I'd protect you." He smiled.

I approached the art room before walking over to my station. I silently thanked the Lord I had covered it up as Harry followed me.

"This is it." I replied, picking it up.

"What is it?" Harry questioned, beginning to move the cloth away.

"Don't look!" I squealed. "It's a surprise."

"Fair enough." He chuckled.

We then made our way back to my house. I put my project in the closet as Harry flopped himself on my bed.

"Comfortable?" I giggled.

"Not quite." He smirked.

"Why, what's wrong?" I asked, thinking something were actually wrong with him or my bed. I made my way over to the bed and stood over him.

"Come here." He grinned.

"I am here." I laughed.

He rolled his eyes before taking hold of my arms. He easily pulled me over him as he had caught me off guard.

"Harry?" I questioned.

"Now I'm comfortable." He smirked.

"You're such a boy." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Some reason I don't feel insulted by that." He laughed. He then leaned up, his lips brushing against mine. "I'm glad you're mine." He said, kissing me gently.

"Me too." I smiled.

Me too.
