January Saves the World

January, that’s my name. Stupid, I know, but that is my name. Mum says it suits me- but then again, she would say that, she’s the one who named me. I suppose if I was one of the cool girls like Tanya or Rosabelle Daniels, then I’d already have a cool nickname to substitute. But I don’t bother with those kind of things – partly because I’m completely despised by the likes of Rosabelle, and partly because I have no interest in changing my name; it wouldn’t change me – it wouldn’t make me insanely popular, and it wouldn’t make me anymore noticeable than I already am. Not that I mind, or care, about that sort of thing. Everyone knows that high school is just the playing field for actual factual life. And by the time that day arises, when I’m finally guaranteed freedom from this dreadful place - I’m sure I’ll have managed at least 60%, of what I plan to do. I plan to save the world.

OK, so I know this may sound a little farfetched. But it’s not like I’m just some little hippy telling everyone to plant trees, and look after the environment, or anything. Well, I do care about the environment – but I know that there’s no point trying to get people to listen to me. People have no interest in what a 15 year old girl has to say, about their seemingly perfect world. You see, people have certain perceptions about teenagers, similar to the perceptions they have about the world. The world is their home; they can do whatever the hell they want with it. They can keep pushing and pushing and use up all of the worlds resources. But, there’s no reason to worry – they can carry on polluting the world; it’s not like something called global warming exits.

Anyway, Even if I was fully fledged adult, they still wouldn’t take me seriously. And that’s because no one can be bothered to care. People are too busy with there own problems and affairs. They may be aware of what’s going on around them, but as far as their concerned, that doesn’t give them reason to act upon what’s going on, right in front of them.
