14. Lea's New Secrets and Fruit Bats

What Lea found was some carefully hidden secrets that some people just couldn't stop thinking about.

Harry was angry at both his friends because they were fighting, again. Ron knew Hermione was right, but was too proud it admit it and Hermione was sad because of their disagreement.

Finnagin had a crush on Pavarti, who had a crush on him. Severus was the best teacher for the Slytherins and all but the Gryffindors thought he was indifferent to them. One first year had snuck in his own broom, and it was about to be discovered by  Flitwick.

Severus let Lea explore, in hampered, in his mind. She didn't dig deep, but did find out that he would spring a surprise quiz that Monday.

She knew most of his secrets, most learned by accident, and didn't want to intrude, so she left two minutes later. Lea was careful not to find the quiz answers, sure he would change them in a heartbeat.

After just wondering through students minds for about twenty minutes, she was about stop when she had an idea.

Wanting to know what the boy thought about, Lea leaped into Draco's mind, this time on purpose.

She was soon looking through his eyes and hearing with his ears. Draco was walking by the lake with Pansy, a third year Slytherin girl, Crabbe, Goyal, and a kid named Blaise, Draco's best friend.

Pansy was talking in her annoyingly, shrill, and much too sweet voice. Draco was ignoring her, she was talking about shoes and the difference between lilac an light purple. (As far as Draco, Blaise, and Lea were concerned, there wasn't any difference.)

To Lea's surprise, she soon found Draco telling his friend to shut up! Blaise readily agreed and Pansy lapsed into a stunned and hurt silence. She decided not to talk to them until Monday and walked off.

Lea snickered. Draco rolled his eyes. That girl can be so annoying. But on to more pressing matters. Such as, why Lucius wasn't being told what happened.

Draco doubted it was because Severus told Dumbledore about his beatings, and he had been sure that Lea would complain about it. Could it have been possible that Lea had found out an said something to the teachers?

Draco quickly ruled out that possibility, he wouldn't have done that so why would she?

Lea spent sometime in his head, and was amused for about half an hour. Then, after Draco decided that Severus must have persuaded Dumbledore not to send an owl, Lea left, finally bored.

Lea spent the remainder of the day reading one of her favorite muggle books, Vampirates: Tide of Terror by: Justin Somper. (This is an actual book for those who were wondering.)

As the name suggested, it was about vampire pirates. One of them tried to kill a human, that was strictly banned from the ship, and he was outcast.

It was about 7:00 p.m. when Lea was aloud to leave the Hospital Wing. She went down to dinner, ate quickly and left to go sleep.

She slept and drifted into darkness. She woke up to see a fifth year girl above her, wand raised. Lea quickly pushed her away an put her to sleep.

Lea decided to stay up until dawn, which was about an hour away.

To occupy her new found time, Lea decided to go for a fly and talk with a colony of bats (I'm not sure what it's actually called) living in one of the abandoned towers. Lea clambered out of the dormitory and into an abandoned corridor.

She looked around real quick and her body began to shrink. Hair started to grow on her face and torso, her fingers spread with a tin layer of skin connecting them, and the hair on the top of her head grew backwards and turned black, as did the rest of her.

Soon all Lea could see was vague outline of things. She gave a high pitched squeak. It bounced back to her as she flew up to the top of the ceiling. After two more squeaks, she had built a mental picture of the corridor.

Following the other fruit bats' squeaks, Lea found the other bats.

They were great gossipers, and knew everything about everyone. They also never kept a secret, even their own.

"What's new," Lea asked a near by male bat. He was big for a fruit bat, but relatively small.

"It's near the full moon, werewolves will be coming out soon. There is a new dog in the home stead, he leaves us in peace though," he squeaked.

The dog earned Lea's attention. "How big is it?"

"Near the size of a full grown wolf. It is no bother to us, but it is strange. A male human smells like the dog. He does not have his own sent. On minute the dog is there, the next the tall male human is. I suggest leaving him alone, he doesn't like us, though he will not harm us," the bat said, finishing and turning as he heard about a rumor that some of the house elves were going to look for new employees.

The dog sparked a sudden memory in Lea. She was in the woods, and a dirty man was there. Then he left.

Lea squeaked a bat curse, consisting of things like, 'I hope you eat rotten dung' and 'May your ears fall of during the cold months (winter)."

She needed to investigate this dog/man. If it was indeed Sirius Black, she needed to tell Dumbledore. But, he hadn't killed her when he had the chance, so what was his motive to come here? Then she remembered the rat from his memories.

Lea quickly located the dog/man. He was hiding with the owls, eating rats, and by his smell, had been doing so for some time. She quickly turned into a navy blue cat, and watched him.

He wasn't bothering anyone, but she decided to have Raven follow him.

Lea went back to the dormitory and left soon after to breakfast. Tonight was the night she would sneak out.
