Searching (Niall Horan Fanfiction)

"One look, one night, one simple silent glance and that was all it took. I had to find her. And somehow, some way, I would find her, even if that meant searching the entire world to see her eyes again." ~Niall Horan

18. Chapter 18

Marissa's POV:

I heard someone screaming and knew Eric had pulled the lever. I suddenly had a flash back to an old disney movie, Emporers New Groove where the evil lady told her minion: "Pull the lever, Krunk!" and he would pull the wrong lever. I pushed the thought from my head and watched the matress, hoping it was places correctly. We wanted Niall in one piece, not a thousand broken ones. I saw him come into view and he hit the matress with a loud "oomf!"

He glanced around in a panic until his eyes found me. "Wh-what happened?!"

I leaned over and held out a hand, which he took gratefully. "Come on, we don't have much time," I said once he was standing.

He blinked, "Much time for what? What's going on?" He asked again.

I sighed. "Listen, Niall, I don't have time to explain. You need to trust me and come with me."

"Why should I trust you?" He said crossing his arms.

"Because my best friend is waiting for you with that god forsaken hat!" I said placing my hands on my hips.

His arms dropped to his side and he looked shocked. "She's here?" I nodded and he walked closer. "Why is she still trying? If I was her...well, I would have given up on me." He said sadly.

I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Because she knows it's not your fault. Will you trust me?" He stared into my eyes for another second before nodding. I heard a loud crash and we both spun to look at the security rushing toward us. "Run!" I yelled.

We both took off, running around the bottom of the stage, the loud music above blasting in our ear drums. As the drums beat, I felt the whole thud go through my body. I could see the exit. I shoved Niall in front of me as he jumped over a pile of wood. I wasn't so lucky.

I gave a yell as I tripped, feeling a pain shoot up my leg. I pulled myself up carefully, and froze when hands locked around my waist. I looked up to Niall who was lifting me up. I looked over his shoulder. They were too close.

"Niall, go! If you don't, it'll be too late!" I said as he tried to tow me along. "I will be fine. Go to your dressing room." He stared into my eyes and I could see the small battle in them. He didn't want to leave me behind. I could see why she liked him as much as she did. He had a big heart to go with his big appetite. He finally nodded and helped me find something to grab onto before he took off. "Don't let me down!" I shouted. He looked over his shoulder with a smile as he disappeared out of my sight.

I held onto the poles that held up the stage and started to hobble my way out. But one glance over my shoulder and I knew I wasn't making it. I was so close. The faster I tried to go, the more my ankle screamed in protest. I let go of the pole I was latched onto and took a deep breathe. I forced myself to run, yelling out in pain before I felt hands grab me. "No! Let go!" I shouted struggling. The men didn't say anything but yanked me along out from under the stage. "Stop!" I shouted again. I heard the music stop and prayed it would work, that someone would hear me. I wanted to call out for Lola or Annabell. Eric or even Niall. Instead, I found myself calling for one person.

"LIAM!"
