Hi, I'm Your Daughter

"Fourteen years ago, you and someone else had a baby. I am that baby." Rose has always been a foster kid. Because of heart issues when she was born, she was never adopted. That is, until she finds her birth parents. She just never expected them to be Louis Tomlinson and Eleanor Calder.

4. "You're being...adopted."

I walked into the foster home and ignored Mrs. Ketterly's yells from the kitchen as I ran up the stairs into the room I shared with Katie.

"So?" she asked, an eyebrow raised. I just wanted to wipe that smug smile off of her face. Throwing my bag onto my bed, I tried to hold the tears somewhere deep inside of me, so I wouldn't cry.

"You were right," I said, rolling my eyes. She smiled as she opened up her book.

"I figured," she said. I sat down on my bed, opposite of the room, and laid my head down. I let the tears silently come down the side of my face as I faced the wall. Why did I think anything differently?

Louis looked at Eleanor with such disbelief.

"We just found her, and you're just going to let her go again?" he asked, his face scrunched up in anger.

"You're blaming me for this? You're the one who said you didn't know what to do with her!" Eleanor snapped back. Louis rolled his eyes and ran after Rose, leaving the door open. Eleanor put her head in her hands as she leaned against the wall. Charlie stood there, still in shock.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you," she said after a while, lifting her head up to look at her fiance.

"No, no... It's fine," he said. Then he was silent for a long while, "El, you're going to regret not fighting for her. Not going after her..." Eleanor looked up and met Charlie's eyes.

"You don't...mind?" Charlie laughed at her shocked expression.

"Why would I mind? I love you, Eleanor. I would do anything for you," he said, looking into her hazel eyes and holding her hand into his. She smiled at him, but the smile faded as she heard footsteps enter back into the house.

"That girl..." panted Louis, "...runs so...fast." Eleanor stood up quickly, almost hitting Charlie in the chin with her head.

"You didn't catch up to her?" she asked, her voice almost reaching a pitch that humans wouldn't normally be able to hear. Louis put a finger to his ear, and glared at her, before looking sadly at the ground.

"No...No I didn't..." Eleanor remembered the piece of paper that she was holding.

"This is my case worker's number. If you decide you want to do anything..."

She remembered what Rose had told her as she handed the piece of paper. She smiled to herself as she met eyes with Louis.

"We're not going to lose her," she said, smiling. Louis just looked at her confused...

"Marcy, can you please pass the mashed potatoes?" I asked as I sat at the dinner table. The five year old instead threw a handful of mashed potatoes at my face. The dinner table was crowded and noisy as usual.

"Hey Rose, nice face," joked Jason from the end of the table. I wiped potato from my eyes.

"Ha. Ha. Ha," I laughed sarcastically, before glaring at him. It was a week after I had met my parents. Even though it hurt, I had pretty much gotten over the rejection. I still hadn't told Katie who they were. It wasn't really necessary.

"HEY JASON! I bet Mrs. Ketterly would LOVE to see that detention slip you got today!" Katie yelled down the table. Jason's face turned bright red as Mrs. Ketterly glanced over at him in a frown.

"Just ignore him, Ro, he's just jealous you actually got to meet your parents," said Katie, handing me a napkin.

"You told him???" I asked in disbelief as I wiped potatoes from the rest of my face.

"Yeah... I mean, it kind of slipped..."

"I'm sorry, Ro! I really am! He was just being--" There was a knock at the door. Mrs. Ketterly got up and walked over to the door. Katie and I stared at the person behind the door. It was my case worker.

"Rose!" called Mrs. Ketterly. Some of the other boys mocked called my name as well as I walked up to the door.

"Hello Rose, I have some great news for you," Fern told me, a smile on her face. I looked at her warily, letting her continue.

"Your birth parents came and found me. You're being...adopted!" said Fern with a smile. I felt my jaw drop.

"But...they're not together... They can't adopt...the system wouldn't..." I struggled to find the words.

"Well, this isn't a normal case. The birth parents never come and file for adoption. For joint custody," said Fern. But by the giggling and blushing, I could tell it was only not a "normal" case was because she had probably been a big Directioner when she was younger, and Louis charmed her. That and being an assumed fangirl that she was, she probably wanted Eleanor and Louis, her ultimate power couple, to be put back together. Maybe she thought getting me back would do it. So she pushed the case to the top and of course they approved it. So, now I was getting adopted by my birth parents. The same birth parents that didn't want me.

"I'm being adopted?" I asked meekly. Fern just nodded happily.
