10. Chapter Ten

When I wake up the next morning, I only have one feeling. Relief. I finally did it...I finally got Zoe and myself out of that place they call a small town. That place was nothing but lies. I roll over and swing my feet off of the bed and force myself off up off of it. For being a really run down motel, it had REALLY comfortable beds. I kept asking myself what we would be doing today when I remembered that Zoe still has to go to school.

I walk over to Zoe's bed and shook her shoulder a little. "Zoe, it's time to get up, we have to go get you signed up for school."

"I don't want to go."

"I know you don't but I am not going to keep you away from your studies. Get up." She groans and sits up. "What do you want to wear today?"

"I don't know, you pick."

I smile at her tiredness and start rummaging through her bags. I find her an outfit and we leave.

When we finally find our way to the school with some help from a nice elderly couple on the side of the street, we walk up to the front doors.

"Ready?" I ask reaching for one of the doors.

I smile. "Let's go then."

"You start tomorrow. Don't be late, we start at 7:30." She smiles.

"Thank you." I tell the principal of the school and shake her hand.

He walks over to the check out counter.

"Hey." He greets with a smile.

"Hi." I smile back.

"You dropped this the other day." He hands me the bracelet my father got for me Seven years ago.

"Oh, my god. Thank you for bringing it back." I take it from him and put it in my pocket.

He chuckles. "You're welcome." He stands there for a moment and smiles.  "I was wondering want to get coffee sometime."

I smile on the inside but I know I can't get hooked on a guy. I can't fall for anyone, if just ruins my plans....But I guess one date wouldn't hurt anybody. I smile, this time on the outside.

"Yeah...uh, sure. When?"

"I was thinking tomorrow around noon."

"I have to work then, but we could go after."

"Great, when do you get off?"

My smile goes away. "8:30."

"How about I take you out for dinner than."

I smile. I am about to answer him when I get a look at the person behind him and my smile soon fades.
