3. First day in hell

Feeling someone stroke my cheek, I shifted in the bed, feeling my eyes slowly open. Nathan was looking down at me with the smile, he only uses when he is around us. The smile that shows that he is not as bad, as he wants people to think.

“Morning sis. Keith have made breakfast, are you coming down?” He asked, even though he already knew the answer. I nodded my head and sat up in bed, my legs hanging off the edge. Nathan got off the bed, and said that he would meet me downstairs.

I jumped off my bed and pulled out one of my brother’s old hoodies, and pulled it over my small body. It was so big it went down to my knees, but I didn’t care. Pulling my hair into a loose bun, I went downstairs, where I could hear my brothers talking.

Cooper was sitting at the dining table while talking to Nathan. Keith was sitting on the other side, laughing at their conversation. I pulled out the chair next to Keith and yawned. He smiled and pushed a plate with waffles in front of me. I smiled and started eating while listening to the conversation between Cooper and Nathan.

After I was done eating, I walked back up to my room, and pulled out a pair of jeans and my favorite blue hoodie with the text Geek on it. I didn’t have much clothes with me, since I couldn’t have all my clothes in the bag I had packed, along with everything else I needed to bring here. A knock on the door, made my head snap towards it. Nathan stepped in with a cheeky grin on his face. He only had that grin on his face when he had an idea.

“Spit it out Nathan, I can’t wait to hear it.” I laughed. He looked behind him, as if he was making sure no one could hear us, and then he told me his idea. I nodded my head, telling him that I was in before we left my room, to get to school.

The school was only a fifteen minutes away from where we lived, so we decided to walk the first day. Mostly because Keith had to get rid of the stolen car, and buy a new one.

We walked onto the parking lot in front of the school, and I could tell that I would hate this school already. Cliques were everywhere, and it was easy to tell who was who. The nerds were standing close together in a corner, trying not to gain too much attention. While the popular people stood in the center of everything, trying to gain as much attention as possible.

Then there we the normal ones, they stood kind of everywhere.  The basketball team was throwing a basketball around, while the football team was chatting up some cheerleaders. I could already tell that I would be an outsider, on my own. Not that it bothered me, it only meant that I didn’t have to do much of an explanation to why I moved here. However, something was missing. The bad boys.

As soon as the thought had crossed my mind, a black range rover drove into the parking lot. The engine stopped and out stepped a tall, brown haired boy, who had his eyes covered by a pair of black Ray Bans. All girls started staring, and I could see how much he enjoyed being checked out.

His eyes landed on me, and a smirk crept onto his face. One step and you’ll regret it. Was the only thing I was allowed to think, before Nathan pulled me into the school and over to the principal’s office.

After we had gotten our papers, schedule and locker number, Nathan and Cooper left me to find their lockers, since theirs were far away from mine. I walked around on the hallways, not really caring if I found my locker or not, when I saw the same dude I had seen earlier.

He was walking around with two other boys. I turned my head away from them when I found my locker. I opened the locker, and threw in the bag Nathan had given me before he left. It was all I was going to need for his little plan later.

I turned my head around, just in time to see Mr. Smartass walk into a girl who looked down, trying not to draw attention to herself. She lost control of her books that was now all over the floor.

“What are you doing, nerd?!” Mr. Smartass yelled in the poor girl’s face. She flinched when she heard the anger in his voice. Before she could say something, he had her pinned up against a locker, holding her by her oversized hoodie. She looked terrified.

I looked around to see if anyone was going to do anything. No one as much as moved, while he was yelling at her, telling her how useless she were, how ugly she was, and how everyone would love if she just killed herself. Shaking my head in disgust, I decided that I had to get in trouble eventually, so why not now. Asking the girl that was closest to me, what the name of the boy was, I sighed and threw my phone into my pocket after texting Nathan.

“Yo, Bieber!” I yelled, taking a step forward. He didn’t even turn his head before answering.

“Go away, or I’ll kick your ass.” Laughing, I took another step forward.

“I’d love to see you try, Justin.” Using his first name, I finally got him to turn his head. His hazel brown eyes met my blue once. A smirk found its way onto his face when he saw who it was.

“A newbie is challenging me? Come on, go back to whatever you were doing, so I won’t have to kick your ass.” He laughed. The crowed that had formed around us, stayed quiet as we talked.

“Like I said; I’d love to see you try.” I dragged out every word, so I was sure his little brain caught every word I was saying. He let go of the girl he was holding, so she fell to the ground with a loud bump. Justin took a step towards me, looking me in the eye.

“Who do you think you are? Coming here to my school, acting like you own everything?” He hissed at me.

“Wow, calm down Justy, no need to snap at me.” I said with the most annoying voice I could find. He grabbed me by my hoodie, and slammed me up against a locker, a few feet away from the girl, who was now crying. I caught her eye, and sent her a smile that said; don’t worry, he won’t hurt me.

“Justin, I give you thirty seconds to let me go, or else it will be worst for yourself and your little friends here.” I threw my head in the direction of his two friends. Justin just laughed. They all do.

“Okay, your fault.” I brought my leg up to my stomach and out, kicking him hard in the stomach. I landed on one foot, but his friends were fast. Gripping one of my arms, I used my other to hit him in the chest with a hard fist. The other one of Justin’s friends, the blond one, tried to grab me but I turned a half round, and grabbed him by the shoulders, smashing his body into the lockers. He was out.

Justin was finally back on his feet, and looked at his friends with a shocked expression. But boys like Justin never give up. He ran towards me, and I waited for the perfect moment before making another half turn, grabbing Justin by the shoulders, before his head hit the lockers. I’m so nice. I turned Justin around, and kneed him in the stomach, one, two, three times before I pulled him to his feet and looked him in the eyes.

“If I ever see you touch that girl again, I’ll make sure you won’t be able to walk afterwards! Got it?” I hissed at him. When he didn’t answer, I slammed his body hard back on the lockers, making him cry out in pain.

“Got it?” I asked once more, this time he nodded his head. “Good.” I then slammed him back on the lockers, and turned my attention to the crying girl on the floor. Her long blond hair, had been pulled back into a messy bun, and the hoodie she was wearing was at least three sizes too big.

“Come here sweetie; let’s get you cleaned up, okay?” I helped her to her feet, and grabbed my bag before we walked to the bathroom. The whole way, she kept crying. When we were finally settled in the girls’ bathroom, I sighed and looked at her.

“Look, sweetie. You are way too beautiful to be crying. I suggest you stop right now, okay?” I sent her a small smile, which she returned. Her blue eyes were shining with gratitude.

“Thank you. For standing up for me out there, I mean. No one ever has before. I’m Ashley by the way.” She whispered. I waved it off with a movement of my hand.

“No problem, Ash. He is a jerk anyway he deserved it. Plus, he gave me a nasty look on the parking lot earlier, nobody does that without getting beaten up.” I joked. She laughed at it, half-hearted.

“So, would you mind telling me why that Justin kid is bulling you?” I asked after a few minutes of silence. Looking at me, she sighed, and started telling me how Justin used to push her up against the lockers and make her feel like shit for no reason at all.

“Hey, if you ever need someone to defend you again, I’ll be there. Plus, I think I know someone who might want to help you too.” I said as a smirk grew on my face.

“Who?” Her voice was now filled with curiosity. I laughed and pulled her to her feet. She quickly pulled her hair back in a bun, but I pulled out the hairband and threw it out in the trashcan.

“Your hair is pretty, you should let some of those fake bitches see what a real blond look like.” I winked and pulled her out of the bathroom, and towards the football field.

People on the hallways looked at me with big eyes, but I ignored them. We walked out the front entrance and past one of Justin’s friends. It was the blond haired one I had slammed into the lockers; his gaze fell to the ground, when he saw me.

We reached the football field, where I saw Nathan running around in his gear, making every girl around to drool over him. Nathan was trying out for the football team, and by the look on the coach’s face, Nathan were already signed up as quarterback. What can I say my brother is good. Ashley and I waited for training to end, and for Nathan to return from the dressing room. When he saw me, his smile only grew bigger.

“Hey sis! You are now looking at the new quarterback! Oh yeah!” He cheered at himself. I laughed and hugged him.

“Like I didn’t know that! The coach was totally starstruck when he was looking at you!” I laughed. Nathan looked at Ashley with a smile on his face. Here comes the flirting.

“Hi, I’m Nathan, and you are?” He asked with the sweetest voice. Ashley was just about to answer, but I cut her off.

“A friend. Her name is Ashley” I said and winked at him. His attitude changed completely after those words had left my lips.

“Hey Ashley, if you ever need anything, or if someone is after you just like earlier, you can always come to me. A friend of my sister is a friend of me.” He said and smiled a friendly smile. She thanked him, and when the bell rang, Nathan took Ashley to her class, because I had to go in the opposite direction.

I saw Justin and his friends, but none of them said or did anything, but glare at me. I saw Justin clench his fist, so I turned my whole body to him.

“Come at me, bro.” I said. When he didn’t move, I laughed. “Thought so.” I smirked at them, and walked into the school and to my first lesson. Can’t wait for lunch time, I’m starving.
