3. The Key of Water

*Jack's POV*

I've never really had much of a connection with that Heather Heat girl. She has the weirdest name - but then again I can't talk. Jack Frost? My parents must have had some sort of obsession with winter. My sister is called Snow White Frost...

But getting back to the point, I noticed Heather go to her locker, not the toilet. When she sat back down, I swear I saw her pocket glow bright red! After Art, I put my Art book in my locker, but there was a strange key. It glowed like Heather's but Icy Blue.

I took the key, and saw a note. It read

Jack Frost. You will need the key of Ice.

Prepare for a shock.

I thought it was some kind of joke, so I threw the key away. But after Science, it was back in my locker. I took it went to lunch. My friends were sat on a full table, so I sat on the one near the door - the only free one. Then Heather sat down too. Strange. Olivia Earthly and Susan S. Sat down too. Nobody knows Susan S's last name. Not even the teachers....

I think it's weird that no one knows her last name, does she even use it at all?

"What's that?" Olivia asks, pulling me away from my thoughts.

I look down to where she is was pointing. I glance down at my coat pocket to see the key shining brightly through the fabric.

"It's nothing just my phone" I state nervously, digging my hand into my pocket to try and hide the light gleaming out of it. But then I notice Olivia's pocket glowing Green. "What's in YOUR pocket?" I ask her. "It's a key I found in my locker" She replied. She presented it on the table, followed by Heather showing her key. I flashed mine and Susan placed a key on the table too!

OK, I'm starting to find this kind of creepy...

They were all glowing even brighter then before. I quickly snatched them off the table and stuffed them into my bag when I saw my friend Sam walking towards us.

"Hey Jack. What you doing sitting here with... them?" He asks, eyeing up Heather a look of pure disgust.

"Nice to see you too Sam" Heather sneers, glaring at him. "You know what I've got to go to ask Mr Nnam about the project. Jack can you give me my science notes back at the end of school?" She asks, obviously meaning her key.

"Sure, don't worry I'll look after them" I say, giving her a reassuring smile.

She nods at me, her expression blank. "Have good day guys" She says to me, Olivia and Susan.

"What no good day to me?" Sam asks in mock offence.

"Go fall off a cliff Sam" She hisses at him before turning around and storming off her ruby red hair flying behind her and her black wedge heels clicking on the floor.

I hear Sam mutter a very colorful word under his breathe as he sat down next to me. "Why did you ask her for notes? Seriously why... her?" He asks me, the venom he was using in his word sticking out like knives.

"She's smart and your not in my science lesson" I state, calmly trying to hide my irritation towards what he was saying. "What do you have against her anyway?" I ask, curiosity take over my annoyance.

"Let's just say, as soon as you think you can trust her she turns on you and bites your head of like a freakin' dragon" He states, his voice raising a little. "If I were you I'd keep clear of her. Ok?"

I nod my head looking down at Heather's key in my hand. I run my finger over the dragon like design in it. Maybe he's right about her biting his head like a dragon. But I think he meant that in a metaphorical term.

"Alright I better go talk to coach. See you later, mate" Sam says, patting me on my back but I barely hear him. I'm too busy with my jumbled up thoughts.

Susan quickly stands up and grabs Sam's arm tugging him so he faced her. "You might want to watch out. You never know how true the things you say could be" She states before dropping her grip on him and storming off the way Heather went, Olivia following close behind.

"Girls can be so strange" Sam mutters as he walks back over to our usual table.

Well he's right about something, 'cause I have no idea what just happened.
