8. Good things come to those who wait

After about three weeks of that, I hacked into the phone and changed the ringtone. I got a quiet 'buzz' while Olivia, Heather and Susan were stuck with 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!' It was 22nd September, the day before I was reception monitor. I didn't want to rush between HQ and classes all day so I 'borrowed' a voice changer from Professor and changed it to the Headteacher's voice. Then I snuck over to the microphone and made an 'Official Announcement.'

"Any student that gets in trouble or forgets something tomorrow will get a 52 Week Detention. That is all"

The next day, I wasn't needed for reception, but I wasn't going to classes either. I chilled in the LRC all day (Learning Resources Centre) Whenever my phone buzzed, I used the VIP entrance in Miss Hordith's office, a deputy head who was never in school. That time though, Professor had no training session. It was an AWARD CEREMONY! We had completed training!

By now Heather had perfected her produce-fire-from-her-hand-and-fire-it attack, and named it HeatBlast. Did she think this was some kind of GAME? Olivia mastered summoning vines from the ground and wrapping them round the enemy, Susan learned to turn invisible and I got the coolest attack of them all... I summon an icy rock and fired it at the opponent. It would hit them, causing damage, then shatter and expand, freezing them in a block.

We also got a better ringtone - if you could call it that. A smartphone-type thing, that buzzed and showed a symbol matching our power to alert us we were needed. Call-outs were less frequent in lessons now. Everything was going our way. Of course, Sam was still on our backs, investigating our every move like Sherlock Homes of the 21st century. When confronted, he'd decline it. But it was hard not to notice his new 'Detective Club' with over 2 Members!!!!!
