The Head-Game Called Life

The sound of cars, horns and the hub of life in the big city played in her ear drums in a fashion that enchanted her. By chance the girl leaned forward ever so slight, ensuring that she didn’t shake the un-stable escape too badly. For most a view of the city such as this was a treat- something people would die to have.
Die.
There was that word again.
Stuck in her head.
Haunting her.

Her heart raced as she sat with her legs dangling from the fire escape. With a sigh the girl’s forehead made contact with the cool metal handle, her mind racing a mile a minute as the gentle fall nigh air caressed her cheeks and blew her short wild blonde locks around into her face.

Die.

There was that word again.

Stuck in her head.

Haunting her.

The girl folded her arms tightly around her as she pulled her legs up one by one, in the process her designer ballet flat almost slipped off her foot. But just barely.

Nobody likes you, a voice in her head said.

Yeah, all you are is a freak. You don’t belong here. A different voice said.

“No,” the girl said as she shook her head. No matter how hard she tried to put the ill words out of her mind, they returned. She began to sweat as her breathing increased. “No,” she keep telling herself as her body subconsciously began to shake.

The girl blinked, as she did so the faces of her torments flooded her mind. She gaped and closed her eyes and re-opened once more. She still seen their faces.

Why don’t you just go kill yourself? Why don’t you go kill yourself?

Those last words rang in her ears.

The next thing the girl knew she was standing on the edge of an open fire escape. The wind beating against her. For a moment she looked back, mentally compelling her actions. But something insider her just snapped.

Callie Willows jumped.
