“Babe what are you doing???!!” Louis said, looking at me carrying a box. “Put the box down, carrying is not for you, not in your condition.”

He came towards me and took it from my grasp. “But Lou, I hate watching you all lugging stuff around. I want to help.” I faked a pout.

“I know but babe, you’re seven months pregnant, I do not want you getting stressed out. It’s not good for you or little Leonie.” I sighed knowing he was right, I kissed him softly, and took a seat on one of the dining chairs they’d left, purposely for me.

We’d found a nice six bedroom place, three stories and loads of room. I would have settled for a four or five bed place but Louis was ‘planning for our future’ so went for the bigger house. I thought it was way too expensive, but money was apparently no object.  Louis wanted us to have a perfect family home and he believed that the house we’d gotten was just that. One thing I’d learned in the many years I’d known this man was never to argue with the decisions he makes.

“These are the last few boxes babe, the guys are gonna go in the van and then we’re gonna drive down after them.” Louis mentioned as he walked past with something in his hand. I nodded, smiling. Part of me felt upset, me and Louis had lived here for years, seen our children take their first steps, say their first words. This house held so many memories, leaving it almost felt like the end of an era.

I felt myself walking around the empty rooms, all the time seeing visions of things that had happened. I heard Louis’ footsteps and turned to go meet him. “There you are babe, you alright?”

“Yeah, just thinking back on all the memories we’ve made.”

He wrapped his arms around me from behind as we stood in what used to be our bedroom. “I know, this was where our journey as one started. Where me made our twins, watched them walk, laugh, cry. Where we’ve fought, made-up, made love and snuggled watching the TV.” He laughing saying the last part, turning me to face him. “I love you so much Nat, here’s to a fresh start.” He leaned down, kissing me lightly on the lips.

“Here’s to that.” I replied smiling. “How about we go to our new home?” I took his hand and led him down the stairs and out the front door, leaving everything that house stood for behind.
