11. The Truth Will Set You Free

"Louis" I warned as his lips temptingly moved close to mine. Kissing him was magical but it wasn't the right moment. Oblivious to my warning, he continued to move closer until there was only an inch available between us. Our breaths danced together in the small gap, sending chills down my spine.

We stood motionless, eye to eye, stares fighting for dominance. I couldn't manage to look away, it was as if his stare was swallowing me in a trance, in which I had no management over my whole body, and he controlled every ounce of movement.

"Louis, please" I begged quietly, not knowing whether or not I wanted him to stop. My innocence was my shield, but also my weapon.

He let go suddenly, sending my body to the floor. I whimpered at the sudden impact of the floor on my butt.

"Damn you Louis!" I murmured as I picked myself up. But his attention was not on me. It was on the jumble of my family portrait on the ground. His gaze was intent, as if he was trying to comprehend something.

"What happened to them?" Louis asked, his attention now on me. I shifted awkwardly. I didn't exactly feel comfortable digging up my past, but I had a feeling I wouldn't leave this position without talking.

"They're gone" I simply stated looking down at the faces of my family. My mom and dad. My little sister Abbie. The twins Joey and Julia. My older brother Garrett. Then there was my older sister Renee who was also like my bestfriend.

"How?" Louis questioned. His eyes desperately craved answers.

I gulped. Should I? No? Yes? Why?

"Fire" I blurted out. Hot tears started to form in my eyes, threatening to fall.

I waited for the pity or sympathy. It never came. Puzzled, I looked at Louis waiting for something. But he just continued to look at the picture frame, his emotions desperately trying to break through.

"It was five years ago," I started "I was in my room when I smelled the smoke. It was coming from downstairs. I rushed to my parents room and they sent me out the window with the phone so I could call 911. I climbed down the gutter and called. I waited desperately for my family"

I stopped and wiped away my tears.

"Services arrived and they tried everything. But my family never came out. The house collapsed and the bodies were never retrieved. Just a pile if ashes." I wailed at the last sentence burying my head into my hands.

Two arms wrapped around my body and I nuzzled my head into his neck, clutching his back. I want to run and hide. Hide forever. No one would care. Just Aunt Kate. She would get over it. Eventually.

"Bay." Louis cooed in my ear as he played with strands of my ebony hair. He kissed my head multiple times before forcing me to face him.

"Bay, I'm truly sorry. About everything. Harry. The men. My outburst. Your family. But believe it or not, all of this is just a bump in the road. Tomorrow's a new day." He cheerfully stated. I gave him a weak smile.

"Will you stay?" I asked wiping away tears from my pink cheeks.

"Of course."

Louis brought me to the couch and he wrapped me in a green blanket. Softly, he sang to me as I sniffles in his arms. Eventually I found myself drifting into a deep sleep.
